  1. I agree... but the things Murray has said in public shows a maturity way beyond his years. I reckon he has z ruthless side we have yet to see.

I agree too. All we can judge our new manager on so far is his interviews, which he has impressed in. He interviews far better than Danny, Gary and Craig. He sounded articulate, confident, realistic, respectful and honest, but he also looks like he's got a wee bit of bite in him, he certainly did as a player. Actions speak louder than words though, and only time will tell how well he does. Fingers crossed.
  2. Watched Murray being interviewed on SKY, sounded positive about getting us challenging for promotion next season... AND.... he can actually string two words together....it's been a while wink.png

He should sound positive and be challenging in the Championship, as he's landed an attractive job at one of the biggest clubs in the league.

  3. The writing was on the wall for us, even before the County and Well disasters. I was upbeat after the game at Killie, where we deserved a win. Then came St Johnstone in Perth, a really vital and winnable game. Thommo had defo spat the dummy, even if injured and the team were atrocious with no fight, barring Dayton, who got subbed???Something was horribly wrong that day, and it looked like Teale had completely lost the dressing room. We all know what happened next.

If Teale gets the job, I would be very worried about divisions or politics between him and some players. He seems to have the young guns onside, but something stinks. The BoD must be aware of what's going on and obviously know the finances involved, so hopefully they make the right call. I wouldn't have a clue who to appoint out of that uninspiring list, unless the Davies rumours are genuine of course.

  4. Good performance by us yesterday and very sweet after that display of cheating and thuggery from Murderwell. Shocker by McManus, hope Gow is ok and Erwin took a blatant dive for their pen. Arrogant McDonald deserved to go too.

Wee Mallen's goal was a peach of a hit and he's looking like some prospect. Think our defence is playing with more composure and confidence too, with Cheesy gone, but obviously we wish him all the best.

Too little too late, but satisfying for our last home game and green shoots evident for next season. Not that I agree with it, but I think if we win with a good display against the Accies, Teale will be in with a shout of the gig.

  5. I'm now resigned to the seemingly never-ending scenario whereby St Mirren see talent waltz off for two packets of Bazooka Joe and a sherbert dib-dab, while the likes of Accies sell them for millions, with more dosh coming their way when the players get their ten million quid move to a mid-table EPL outfit. The days of us enjoying the talents of an Ian Ferguson for years for 60k, before cashing in, are long gone. I enjoyed talent like Steve Clarke or McAvennie for a good while - before they got their big move. Again, those days are gone. The disappointing thing (IMHO) we are now facing, is that we are a 'diddy selling club' not to Celtic, or indeed the Rangers of the past.... but now we are a diddy selling club to the likes of Aberdeen. For my sins, I still believe on any given Saturday, St Mirren should be competing with the likes of Aberdeen or Dundee United, home or away, and we shouldn't be seeing our best players fcuk off to them mid-season, leaving us up shite creek without an outboard motor.

Celtic don't need to spend big on the Henrik Larssons of the world any more, they can quite comfortably win the SPFL Premiership by raping the arse out of Scotland's 'second tier' clubs, leaving those second tier clubs to rape the arse out of us.

No doubt in turn, we will revert to raping the arse out of Cowdenbeath or suchlike again. Our place in the natural order of things is slipping, and slipping....

On a cheerier note, it's no' a bad day outside and the daffodils are out. Might go for a wee walk....

It is frustrating, but Utd and Aberdeen are much bigger clubs than us. Even back in the early to mid 80s, when we had an amazing team, Aberdeen still came in and took McDougall, Stark, Weir and Bell from us.

We should be able to give them a game on the park to some extent, but their fan base will always be bigger than ours.

Talking to mates who support other teams, they all rate McGinn highly. 20 year old Scotland u21 captain with a rack of league appearances, so although he's lost his way this season(like the whole team), I think he'll be away. I will be sad to see him go and gutted if he goes for heehaw.

  6. If this prank had happened just before the split in our last two seasons, when McGinn was on fire and hugely important to our team ticking, it would have been a very different story. People on here would've been going tonto.

All ifs and buts, I know, but the fact we're already down and McGinn has been a shadow of himself this year means people are seeing it differently. Just joking around, but the legend that is Thommo must be relieved that we are are not at a crucial part of the season.

For what it's worth though, my wife would love to be speared by Thommo.

  7. Preseason against Cowdenbeath, he looked fantastic, but so did Marwood. I was genuinely excited about the pair of them. How much more wrong could I have been? Wylde's attitude and lack of defending has been horrendous this season. Totally agree that most players would love to have his pace and power, but his head has been up his arse on the pitch this season.

There is a slight argument that he is a 'confidence' player and would thrive in a more successful team and perform well under a better manager, but one good game against a honking Killie seems to have transformed many opinions of him on here. Would love to be wrong and see him rip teams apart for us in the Championship, but I have my doubts.

  8. I thought Dilo looked a great prospect. Never responded to contract offer at the end of the season. Shame. Now a third choice keeper back in France.

Campbell Money was amazing. Thought Billy Thomson was a great keeper, but he liked saves for the camera and prone to more howlers than Dibble. Money was consistent, brave and basically much better, when he finally got the nod when Thomson departed.

  9. My worry is that we could be paying off two managers as we go into next season in the Championship. Have we paid Craig off yet or is he still robbing from the club? Gary has hopefully made a good packet from his playing days and will do us a favour and resign. We need a completely fresh start, especially starting life in a new division, but budgeting wisely, considering our slashed income is vital too.

It's a long shot, but has he definitely finished as a player or could he get fit over the summer and do a job down a level? Surely an impact sub would be more useful than just paying him off.

Paying off contracts, that the BoD have given out like sweeties to no-hopers, is one of the reasons that this season has been such a disaster.

After last night, I think we should sack Gary, but hopefully he will do the decent thing and resign, as we probably can't afford to sack him.(The way he spoke post match looks like he wants to stay or at least get paid off).

Unfortunately the days of footballers/coaches/managers working for their team, fans and badge are long gone. It's a business full of self interest and inflated egos.

Yes I have felt a bit of sympathy for Gary, due to the 'team' he took over, but he chose to take the job on, which comes with, like any other job, a level of responsibility. His defeatist body language at halftime was terrible to watch. He is not manger material.

God knows what the BoD will do over the next few months, to dig us out of the hole they dug for themselves this season. I'm sure they are aware that there are thousands of disillusioned Saints fans suffering down there with them.

  10. Absolute disgrace doesn't cover it. My wee lad is in tears. He cares 10 times more than any player on that pitch.

On a plus, we have avoided a last day of the season heartbreak or having the Orcs put us down in a playoff. At least we know we are going down because we deserve it.

  11. If we had only played like that in even two or three other games against poorer opposition we wouldn't be staring relegation straight in the face. A bit of bad luck and terrible refereeing decisions haven't helped either. Last night at least gives us a glimmer of hope if we can play like that again.

Totally agree. Definitely positives to take from last night, but the same players that were honking and showing a complete lack of fight and belief against St Johnstone, seemed to raise their game in front of the cameras last night. Too little too late I'm afraid, buy I'd love to be proved wrong. If anything, the players should've been playing with more belief against St Johnstone, as it was a winnable game.

Thought Tess was superb, especially in the first half, resulting in Forrest(just before he scored) being moved to the other wing, as Tess had him in his pocket. Yet again, I thought Goodwin was our best player. His yellow card was warranted, but it's good to see someone giving Brown a taste of his own medicine; the difference being Brown wouldn't have been carded.

  12. Absolutely horrible today. The body language from our supposed leader Thommohawk was very telling. I know he's not fit, but he didn't look up for it at all today. I know Goodwin could've defended better today, but he's one of the very few, that seems up for the fight. We are rotten to the core, from BoD, to management team, to players and we're now at rock bottom.

We should've started with Arquin(for Thomo)and Sadlier(for Gow) today and yet again Teale took off Dayton??

It's all immaterial anyway. Looking at my son sitting at the game today, I realised that he's only ever known us as a top flight team and he's going to have to get used to hugely reduced media coverage, an important connection with Saints, outside attending games, as we live so far away from Paisley.

When we go down, I think we will be there for a long time and might even struggle as we cut our cloth accordingly.

Obviously appointing Craig was a cost-cutting disgrace and the biggest factor in our current situation, but today was a big watershed moment. I can't see any way we can survive now, when with a bit more ambition, imagination and foresight from our BoD, it could all have been so different.

  13. Just in after a 200 mile round trip... bawz!!!

Killie were no better than us today and a draw would've been a fairer result. I agree with puzzlement at Dayton being hooked. He has quality, a good work ethic and can create. Kelly found himself in fantastic positions today and failed miserably. McGinn reads the game well and broke up their play on loads of occasions, but really lacks vision going forward and any scoring threat. The amount of times he won the ball and turned back where he should've been steaming forward. The God that is Thommo shouldn't play more than a half(it pains me to say). Sadlier looks a really exciting player and caused Killie problems when he came on. He's due a start. Gow is a really good footballer and will hopefully get even better with games. Think most teams in the league would take Goodwin in their team(on his current run of form).

We played some nice stuff in spells today, but we are so feckin slow going forward.

Pure frustration tonight. We have some quality in the squad but not enough time to build on it.

Oh eye, ....and Magennis is a tool.
