  1. The shop has great parking and is easily accessible , it deserves to open five or six days a week , but not as a shop selling St Mirren stuff , there must be a profitable business that all St Mirren supporters could use , if they knew that the profits went straight in St Mirren / Smisa,s coffers , The Saints shops as it is now could easily run from a portacabin , and one of these could probably be obtained for very little

  2. With young players its about getting the balance right , giving them the chance when their good enough , supporting them when they make mistakes , coaching them to get better , teaching them good habits , and allowing them to leave the club when the right offer comes along  , do all these things right , and other promising youngsters will continue to sign for the Saints

  3. If we could move Jason on and bring in a left back , a holding midfielder and someone experienced in playing just behind the striker then I think it could work out as a good piece of business , Jason is coming back onto form , and whilst he is being linked with a move to Ross County just now , I think his agent may have leaked that info to see if any other clubs are interested . Keep an eye out for Mansfield town coming in with a bid , now managed by Steve Evans who showed interest in Jason when he was with Mansfield.

I'm still perplexed by this continued word salad of business terms that is served up by St Ricky.

If I am reading it correctly he's saying he's willing to give the club £2500 today in return for what amounts to 15 years of executive club level membership which currently sells for £1200 per annum.

So he's prepared to put up £2.5K in return for receiving £18K of benefits.

Then after those 15 years he'd like his £2.5K back.

You can throw all the business jargon you like at that scheme but I think anyone with a degree of common sense can see that it's absolutely f**king barking.

It might be worth giving consideration as to what an individual could expect for an interest free loan of £2,500 for a period of five years .

I would suggest %10 off season ticket price , free match parking , a weeks free holiday parking and BOGOF voucher for hospitality each season

  5. Spoiler

I,m happy if SMISA can accumulate sufficient shares to prevent any individual from having overall control of the club , I,m not obsessed with overall fan ownership . I like the idea of fan representation on the Board of Directors , and of SMISA doing all it can to increase the size of its membership , which in turn will increase the influence SMISA will have on how the club is run. I also like the idea of SMISA running fun raising events that bring the fans and players past and present together . So far I,m quite happy with SMISA  , but I think its important that they try and increase their membership , and actively target fans have not agreed to pay their £12 a month , as I believe SMISA is all about Supporters having a voice.

The clue is in the fact that it's a lease. St Mirren do not own the land.

I watch " Homes Under The Hammer " and quite often a property which is situated on land that is leased has a value , I,m hazarding a guess that value is based on the length of the lease , the size of the plot , and the quality of the residential area in which the plot is located , hence my question

  7. One part of me thinks we should accept relegation , and work on developing a team capable of winning back to back promotions , and recruit accordingly , this might involve signing five or six part time players , trying to attract four or five  full time players capable of playing in the spl , and continue giving the young players a chance .

Jack Ross wasn,t my first choice as manager , but now that he,s in we should give him a chance , I do think he inherited an unbalanced squad , short in confidence and with very little option but to give youngsters a chance , with that in mind , I think its best he uses this season to identify what he needs , and allow him an end of season to get the right guys in , going after a few part time  players might allow our budget to stretch a bit further

  8. Spoiler

We are on the back of four years of very poor signings , of the fifty or so signing five have have been average and forty five have been pure garbage ( estimates , but not far off ) , I can,t ver remember Saints consistently making so many poor signings . We have some decent young players coming through , and will be rid of a few duffers at the end of the season , and I think JR will do well if he is allowed to develop his own squad . Relegation might be what is required for us to improve , and build together a young and exiting side ( there are a few good signs ) , I would also give consideration to signing part time players , and have the full timers in two evenings a week to train with them . Not holding out much for this transfer window .

  9. Remember living in Hong Kong during the seventies and heading down to Starferry on Mondays to get the UK sunday papers to get the Saints score , also remember staying up til the middle of the night listening to BBC world service but falling asleep before the results came round , Living in Ingerlandshire and coming up once or twice a year for a game  and then eventually moving to Scotland and getting to watch the Saints every week

I doubt we will be signing anyone on PCA's in January, for the simple reason we won't know what league we will be playing in next season.

As was the case last year, contracts for the new season will start being discussed when we know what division we will be in.

I,m thinking that might not be the case if we target three or four players currently playing in League One , players who would do a good job for us if we were trying to get out of League One should we get relegated , but who would also have the potential to play in the Championship .

  11. I was disappointed that apart from Agnew Ian Murray didn,t really sign any players from unfashionable clubs , who had a decent amount of experience and the potential to play to higher standard , okay in Agnews case  it didn,t work , but I believe there are several players playing for unfashionable clubs , that are capable of playing at a higher level , hopefully Jack Ross will have seen a couple during his time at Alloa , who we can get on PCA,S come January . A squad made up of six experienced players ( SPL standard players , who could still cut it at that level ) , six experienced players who have performed consistently well in the lower leagues , and have the potential to play in the SPL , and eight players who have come through our Academy would be nice balanced squad . Lets hope JR can get right 8 or 9 signings this close season

The ban has not been lifted.

We have a number of what they call policeless games.Low category games which require no police presence.

This saves the club a fortune in policing costs and part of the remit is our own stewarding polices these games

As a club we have to ensure that anyone reported by the police causing an offence is banned from the ground.

That is what happened with Josh only he has never been cautioned or charged and it sits in limbo.

Meantime the club are wary that these policeless games could be put in jeapordy if we are not seen to adhere to strict conditions.

After every home game we sit down with the police and go over any events arising from that game so in my book we have had at least 4 occasions when Josh,s case could have been discussed. My view is that this has not been the case and the club have failed Josh big time.

They have a meeting this week where i feel pressure must be put on the police to either charge him or clear him.

Why should a 'yellow card' be issued???? The guy celebrated a late goal against the scum, did nothing wrong.

No he didn't go over the wall.

I personally don,t have an issue with fans overenthusiastically celebrating a goal , but I do have a concern if their behaviour inpacts on the cost of policing home games , and consequently impacts on the playing budget , so I think a " yellow card " type warning might be a sensible compromise in this incidence

  13. In these instances where fans are  just being over enthusiastic , not aggressive , but just happy and letting their  emotions overrule their brain a yellow card should be issued along with a letter explaining the potential consequences of that type of behaviour , a second yellow card maybe resulting in a short ban . I think here has been a massive over reaction to the behaviour after the cup final , and as often happens in these instances , a genuine fan is made an example of , lots of ways this could have been dealt with sensibly , and this wasn,t one of them

  14. These kind of players are available , maybe coming to the end of their careers , but with a season or two left in them , or playing well for a team in the lower leagues , but capable of stepping up if they are given the chance , its a managers job to identify these players , do his homework on the type of character they are , and get them signed , we have had four years back to back poor signings , no ones fault but the managers who sighed the players , to do well a club needs three years in a row of getting their signings right

  15. totally agree good teams should have four or five players in the team capable of being Captain , Jackie Copeland , Billy Abercrobie , Tony Fitzpatrick , John McCormack and jimmy Bone all played for the same Saints team , cup finning team had Aber , Fitz and Neil Cooper , Rae should have targeted a couple of players who offered leadership and organisation as soon as he had that opportunity

Joe managed to buy a house with his royalties from SITMWY(Reservoir Dogs).Late again was written by Joe and i agree with you 100% it is indeed the stand out track. When Stealers Wheel were on TOTP,S back in the day my house was jammed full as we were the only family with a colour telly. Many a day the Egans house in Arran Drive Glenburn was the place to be as the extremely talented family would entertain everyone with their musical jam sessions.Auld Paddy Egan sitting with his wee hauf.Lovely memories indeed and a truly wonderful family.

Joe Egan released a Solo Album after Stealers Wheel , think it might have been called Late Again , but can,t remember , has anyone got a copy , or heard the album ?
