I flicked through my channels there and the 1982 top of the pops  Christmas edition was on. He is wearing a black sweater with the smfc 1980s saints badge on it. Can anyone remember the connection with saints?

I think the connection was via a bit of family tree research and him of his wives family had roots in Paisley.

However that would leave an emergency for Clyde for example if we bring back 2 players that they are relying on when they have no chance to replace them. If all parties agree then maybe a player can be recalled but I doubt the loan club would agree outwith a transfer window especially if the player is playing regularly and is a success and if there is more than one player involved.

Makes sense. And Jay Henderson has been self isolating the last week or so.

Not saying they don't (well in Goodwin case he knows feck all imo). But Erahon is a complete shadow and different player that i used to watch....same goes for Joshua Jack on loan at Clyde. Josh was the most talented youngster i have ever seen by a country mile...

Heard from someone at Clyde say that he is very similar to Stuart Armstrong as a player. Also seen a couple of clips of him on Clyde TV and he seems to be doing well then.

    Are you actually being serious?

We have lost our captain who was due back soon and replaced him with one injured left back(6-8 weeks) and another defender from someone else’s academy who has no experience of the top league.

Our new left back will be ready soon too. St Mirren have always moved good players on, and other good players have come through the ranks and replaced them, it's what happens at St Mirren, it's nothing new.

  5. I think we have done ok. One young player out, two young players in. We have lost a player with excellent potential, but have secured an attacking left back, which I think will allow us to get more crosses into the box, and have also signed cover for our defence. Flynn will be coming back soon and will strengthen the midfield. Good luck to Kyle.

Need a settled team with framework to suit that selection and we stick to it ,we drill the players in their part and we compete for 90 mins

With the players we have available for the next few games, that, s two up front, who we play long balls to, who in turn hold the ball up and link up the play further up the park. Requires a hard working midfield. but I think Dundee United, s defenders are cart horses that will make mistakes that will lead to us scoring a couple of goals.

Guy is a complete dud, St Mirren and Ross County were lowest scorers last season and we just signed their 3rd/4th choice striker.

Goodwin likes these non scoring strikers.

Googled him and was surprised how young he is . Probably comes under the category of " has a point to prove " . Seems he has a bit of skill . If he has a bit of pace and a decent work rate he should do a decent job for us as a squad player . A talented young left back though would be a decent addition .

Start with the same side that took to the field last week ?

I think Junior played well enough to warrant another chance up front and would love to see him take one of the chances that will come his way. New striker to replace him around 60min mark and score on his debut.

    COYS !!

If Mccarthy, s fit I would have him back in Central defence and foley in midfield at the expense of McAllister. Think Beaks and Junior will keep them busy.

Billy's contract was up and he was free to sign for another club, subject to a fee determined by the two clubs involved or the dreaded transfer tribunal.  We had offered a new contract, Aberdeen offered much better wages and a higher profile.  Not quite what Bosman ushered in which created the huge gaps in football finances.

I thought Stark moved to Aberdeen pre Bosman days so I don't think there would have been a tribunal. My thoughts at the time was Alex Miller hated the fact that Saints had a lot of players who earned more playing for Saints than he did when he played for Rangers. He also had a remit to reduce the wage bill. Hence Thompson, Fulton, McDogall and McCormack all left the club rather cheaply.

  10. Just before Stevie Clarke moved to Chelsea he was playing as sweeper, with Hamilton left back and Wilson right back. Godfrey would have been centre half. Neil Cooper would have been involved in defensive  midfield or Central defence depending on what players were available.
