I understand if these new rules are applied , he’s not offside but we’ve now gone from a toenail making them offside to a glimpse of a heel making him onside. Still gonna have 5 minutes of ref holding his earpiece then studying 6 playbacks . ( and still f**king it up !)
Get it as VAR VAR away as possible 😬been thinking about it, and it should be pretty straightforward, ie any gap and the attacker is onside and if it looks like a defender is stretching his hand out purely to grab a bit of attacker so there is no gap, then the ref can rule accordingly if he thinks its cheating then give the goal. As I say seems clear to me anyway

It'll result in more goals being scored so a big "👍" from me.
i think more goals that it should deliver will be to the whole games' benefit

Point on the “Entire body “ part of the proposed change, surely it needs to be “only the parts of the body a player can legally score with “
Some smart arse CF could place their hand on the body of a defender without fouling and claim to be onside .
it’s all getting a wee bit messy !, btw, for me the example given above , the player is clearly offside . 😏
not offside within this new interpretation, so long as there is no gap between the attacker and defender, then the attacker is onside, perhaps not perfect .....as per your example of a sneaky attacker holding on to a poor unsuspecting defender......... but certainly a considerable improvement on the current (pardon the pun) state of play, surely.

A major, and a wee touch of common sense, is being brought in, initially in Holland, Italy & Sweden, change to the VAR ruiling on offside.
As most people have seen, it's the interpretation of the rules, not VAR, that's the problem.
Now the WHOLE body of the attacker, not his finger, has to be in front of the defender to be deemed offside.
i like it, common sense at last perhaps

If Brophy used his arse rather than his feet and head....he might get more goals
it's a tactic that john McGinn employs very well, his ass and its use have been instrumental in developing how he plays and his career has progressed as his asshas grown.

You've just raised a political objection.
Football has never been up in an apolitical cloud.
FIFA and UEFA has banned Russia from participating in competitions but allows Israel who has committed the same crimes and worse.
Qatar was pilloried during the World Cup for their treatment of construction workers and the LGBT community.
When nations play each other, nationalism is a prominent feature globally.
Racism was recognised recently by players kneeling on the pitch. However, the demands to end it extends beyond football authorities and into parliament where anti-racist legislation is formulated.
This is about the recognition of the way people are ill-treated.
valid points and I too in replying don't help, I was trying to keep things independent, not personal...............very difficult with an emotive subject

This was stated by Israel during their bombing of Gaza in 2014 when over 500 children were killed.
There was no rocket attack from the West Bank but...

just how useful was International humanitarian law to the six million jews and five million prisoners of war murdered during ww2, perspective, perhaps?

Aye. I’m sure they were veryconcerned as they’re well aware of what the result always is…
…they knew that their oppressors would strike back indiscriminately and disproportionately against children, hospitals, schools… yet claim that they are not being oppressive.
And a huge proportion of Israelis would agree with that description of the Zionist military actions and would understand why the Palestinians continue their unequal struggle.
I assume that you would disapprove of any small country (being oppressed by a larger, ten times more populous and richer nation) resorting to guerilla warfare and using whatever limited weapons came to hand.
Like Scotland did in the 13th/14th century.
I hope this helps?
(At least my post that you quote was - unlike yours - Football related. You’ve fallen foul of the very standard you used to criticise Jockmd.
And, as I’ve said above - more than once - I think there’s little value in judging the new lad, when we know so little about him.)
it takes a rather brave; or perhaps stupid person to name the Jewish nation as oppressors, I have no wish to encourage a debate, my point was simply to offer an alternate viewpoint, this is an area where nobody wins and coming down unilaterally on either side does not help defuse the situation.

If it is ok to question the morality/wisdom of hiring players such as Goodwillie, Leigh Griffiths or our erstwhile own loveable headbanger - Paul McGowan, then I think there’s plenty space to ask similar questions about this lad.
Many Israelis are appalled by the fascism, lack of democracy and oppression of Palestinians by their own forces. Let’s hope Stav is such an enlightened person.
do you think many Palestinians were concerned about their children's schools being used as missile launching sites?

I am disappointed that the club has taken on loan a player from the apartheid state of Israel whose treatment of Palestinians is illegal under international law. Israel's brutality has been ignored and effectively supported by the West which displays their double standards when compared with Russia's invasion of Ukraine which is exactly similar to Israel's illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories which the main stream media barely mentions, in particular, the BBC.
Within the context of football, FIFA and the UEFA have banned Russia's national team and league teams from playing in European and world competitions but allows Israel to participate despite their military repression and having one of the most racist clubs in the world, Beitar Jerusalem who the Israel FA allow them not to sign any Palestinian Arab citizens of Israel...
Apart from the discrimination, Palestinian footballer players have been shot and killed by the IDF (Israeli army) with this incident ending young players' ambition...
The accusation of Israel being an apartheid state has been reported by the world's leading human right NGOs, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch including the leading Israeli one, B'tselem who defines their own country as racist...

So, I don't know the opinion of Stav Mahmani but I hope its not similar to Nir Bitton who tweeted his praise of the IDF.

My mates talking about a "stick" which bemused me as I've worked with wood all my adult life and neven know it to get me football on the TV.
He's going to pop round next week sometime and get my workshop and TV in the house set up.
It means I can watch games on a Saturday when I'm working.
That will work although technically you would be stealing it, paying for the stick just pays the person who loads the stick with the illegally accessed programmers, (and I am not being high and mighty here; I assure you), it's just this way St Mirren gets nothing from your transaction. The way I suggested means you pay the club for an international subscription, (the club then benefit financially) and then pay for a VPN so your computer can then tell the St Mirren tv stream that you are in Germany or the USA or wherever. I really am not intending to be Mr Goody Goody here, just making you aware of all the facts, I could have done that but I wanted the club to get something, don't get me wrong though, if there was no other option I would possibly be Mr Two-Face.

There were quite a few posters on here not sure if you were one of them that were disappointed/annoyed/angry that he was willing to leave before the championship was won with moves to Barnsley and Ipswich that soured the goodwill for the job he done in the end.
Plus he lied by letting Gordon Scott embarrass himself live on Sky by assuring sky sports that Ross confirmed he was staying and had no contact with Sunderland while on holiday a couple of days later Ross has come back from holiday to be unveiled as Sunderland manager.

I am very much afraid that you need to come live in the real world, where generally managers of teams such as st Mirren, move sideways or get sacked or the club let the contract run our (sound familiar) when a team such as Sunderland and or Hibs (Aberdeen in Goodwins case) come calling; the man has a duty (to his family first) to provide the best he can for his wife and children, and to that end negotiations are privileged, I mean there is integrity and then there is stupidity, yes we can be dissapointed, but here in the 'real world' the man did the best e could for him and his. His priority should ALWAYS be his family.

That was f**king mince . Only Erhahon gets pass marks.
The rest look uninterested, lacking in talent and devoid of any leadership - on or off the park . They need to get their shit together and get it pretty damn quick or we are f**ked.
I actually thought (until taken off) Greive also had pass marks for me......no one else though

Indeed there is nothing at all amiss about 'opinions' especially when it comes to football,, however they do need to be based on reality.... unlike Mr B 's. Allowing that much of what he implied about the team and its lack of urgency in recent times, yesterday the whole team clearly ate their Weetabix, took their vitamins and picked a lucky four-leaf clover en-route to the stadium, Main was a revelation, he ran, he harried, he tackled, he worked his socks off and had the best match in a St Mirren shirt ever, Grieve likewise kept at it for the whole game, and Kiltie and Ronnan, even Taite were excellent, , the whole team in fact were a class above where they have been recently. Now when I say a class above, I don't mean in quality although we showed improvement, but rather in work rate and consistency and application, not world class but way above Mr B's interpretation.
