3 goals scored in 46 games according to the Saints site.

    Goals created? up for debate.

I'm not having a go at Joe for the sake of it. I think he is a good player and obviously the manager feels he is a good leader... I just personally feel that as a defender, McCarthy is a better player.

I'm wondering if he is on his way and they are protecting him?  Hope I'm wrong.

There are currently 25 more prominent causes of death in the UK than covid and bear in mind, this is us coming out of a third wave we were told would be catastrophic.

I understand Jaybee's hesitancy due to having lost people they were close to but as you say, there has to come a time where you accept that it has been driven down by a scientific achievement that a few years ago was completely unthinkable. Without vaccines or even with vaccines being developed at their usual rates, we'd have been left with this ripping through populations for 5-10 years before we could effectively jag folk against it.

Future vaccine technology will only serve to drive cases and deaths further down as well. It is always forgotten that this is just the first generation of covid vaccines and that research is always ongoing to improve them.

    very fair comment

How many, exactly, are dying from attending football matches?

Bringing in people that "are still dying" is way out of context and, again, needless emotional attacks on people who are simply wanting to get back to a normal life within the rules that other clubs seem to be able to manage.

If football matches are the deadly killers you're insinuation there must be an awful lot of football fans who will not be attending after the Euros.

I am not trying to be a scaremonger here, I was answering a question which was; "do i really think people will die because of attending football matches," my honest answer is that it is absolutely certain that some will, anyone who thinks otherwise is living in cloud cuckoo land.  Now I am not saying there will be hundreds or even dozens............ but one only has to look at the rise in cases in Japan at the Olympics (and remember this is with NO CROWDS) to be certain that there is bound to be some transmission of the virus particularly among big...... and oddly enough both Celtic and Rangers have had the all clear for full houses, I rest my case, with no great pleasure I might add. And if I am wrong then more fooll me and people will still be here that might otherwise not.

You can only vote for councillors, I was referring to heads of department and such. They are employed not voted into office. What we need is an employment policy that is weighted towards employing local people into these posts, it’s the only way the service from the council will improve.

I can't argue with that, but at the end of the day if you gain enough momentum politically you can alter policy and change the way things work.

Okay lets try this another way. Name the elected member, (Councilors) that decided on the St Mirren capacity and the enquiry by SMFC to RDC. Or was it one of the paid Public Servants that decided on it as the local authority expert, in that role.

I don't know the elected members name, do you? and as for who decided? I have even less knowledge of that, equal I suspect to about the sum of your own knowledge.  I sincerely do take your point regarding the apparent dismissive nature of that decision by 'a faceless bureaucrat,' which most certainly would not have occurred had they been dealing with those in blue or green frae Glesca.  However, as I stated the ability to alter who makes those decisions is within the purview of S.M.I.S., the club, and the public, should enough cages be rattled to initiate action.

I think the £25.00 is for ground entry (I don't think even that's been confirmed as yet) and not for PPVTV ...... unless I've misunderstood your point!!

PPV is £25 too, at least it was last year, I looked; as I buy all the other games even joining Premier tv  (and forgetting to cancel it, doh!)

Putting people lives at risk is being a tad over dramatic. Especially when you consider the other aspects of society that have opened up with lesser constraints.

If you want to use that argument don’t go to the Hearts game on Saturday you might die. But come on Monday you will be fine.

In fact everything Is fine on Monday, provided you wear a mask.

Are you REALLY that naive? seriously.

The elected leaders don’t make these sorts of decisions. It’s the paid employees of RDC that do. I think the poster is making the point that the people at the head of RDC, that command a huge council tax payers salary, don’t necessarily stay in Renfrewshire. Therefore they don’t give two hoots.

I do understand how representative democracy works, but if voters can deliver a metaphorical 'kick in the balls' to a sitting government via a by-election result, then clearly there is a path to be trod................ unless of course yer jest a moaning minnie and canna be earsed?

So every other club and LA in Scotland have "put lives at risk". Utter nonsense.

Not utter nonsense at all, who suddenly made you the arbiter of common sense?  Have the club acted a shade apprehensively? probably yes, but given we are talking of peoples lives here, and this by the way is supposedly a 'supporters' forum, although anyone who was not actually aware of that might doubt it given the vilification aimed at the club, staff and associates.  Put on a fresh pull up and climb back in yer cot.

As quoted earlier in this thread, Renfrewshire council leaders are more invested in the ugly sisters than the saints, and who can blame them given most of them don’t live in Paisley. It’s been the same old story for decades, the high street is dying, the streets are crime ridden, don’t care I don’t live here.

That's down to the voters my friend, if they don't like who is in power, then campaign for someone who you would like to be in power............ I think it's called Democracy

Sorry mate, I wasn’t talking about those being the costs across the board. I was more talking about where we have outliers like Livi.

Whilst I understand the principle of wanting to say “f**k you” to clubs that are taking the piss, if it meant not being able to see the game, I’d struggle to stand by that principle.

    That’s all I meant 👍

I, in general tend to agree, given I live down souf I buy the games BUT not Livi, didn't last year and wont this year, I might have paid £20 which is more than anyone else, but £25 really is extracting the urine.

The covid and infection rates are published on a daily basis for all and sundry to see, as are the infection impacts and breaks in death led by the vaccination programme.

Here's a small example of this that backs up exactly what I said in my initial post between a vaccinated country and a largely unvaccinated one:

    E7SJAtfX0AUirVh.thumb.jpg.7cff4da50e4ab9fe82f39c8e3de8fc7e.jpg

Please do feel free to point out any part of my initial post that was factually incorrect.

I appreciate the sensible manner in which you justify your interpretation of the data and have no arguments as to its veracity. My point, and it isn't to be pedantic regarding it, is that those who are part of SAGE and similar groups without a doubt are firstly, generally better informed as to the 'big' picture and secondly more appropriately qualified as to be able to utilise such information in the UK context.

I honestly believe that people have died as a result of listening to advice from sources that think (at the time perhaps genuinely) that they have a knowledge that they simply do not.  I personally have lost family and friends to Covid so  perhaps I do have an axe to grind.

  13. 1 minute ago, djchapsticks said:

I wasn't aware you had to be part of SAGE to read and understand daily published figures, apologies.

Apology accepted ........ isn't it nice when someone realises there wrong and acts accordingly, well done you.

It does seem to me that many on this site fancy themselves as 'knowledgeable' re Covid and infection rates etc and perhaps they are to certain degrees, but much in the same manner as we fans tend to 'referee' our teams game, we are not the referee and as far as I am aware no one on this site sites on any advisory panels such as SAGE, but hey I could be wrong.

Oh! and if I am, I too shall apologise.

    Have a good one.

I'm not going to spark a debate on this as I'm sick of doing so but in terms of public health and bodies piling up, the vaccines have well and truly put paid to that. There is no longer an immediate risk to the public at large and we should well and truly now be getting back to living our lives with as few restrictions as possible given that the overwhelming majority of people in the country are vaccinated.

5 people have died in Renfrewshire relating to covid in the last 30 days. Five. The risk to the public is now minimal and we have amazing vaccines which in 95% of cases reduce the effects of covid to a mild flu, coupled with a fantastic vaccine uptake by the public to thank for that.

There is absolutely no reason to continue with restrictions at the levels we have been for the last year and a half.

I must have missed your appointment to the SAGE group, apologies.

Anyone know what's happening with SMTV this season?

Are ST holders getting home games free like last season, or do we have to pay for them?

Just asking as there doesn't seem to have been any news from the club.

First home game now less than 2 weeks away.

Pretty sure I read previously that until such time (at the earliest) that everyone who wishes to attend, can attend, the games will continue to be free to season ticket holders.    God help me if I'm wrong  shiver shiver !!!

  16. 18 hours ago, FTOF said:

If it's on SMTV then you'll need to renew your subscription, unless it's a freeview video.

Like previous seasons, you don't get SMTV as part of your season ticket.

I went through the same experience before it clicked.🤦‍♂️

Thank you FTOF, totally went out of my mind....doh!  sorted it now, now I feel stupid.  😬

  17. has anybody else noticed that the latest 3 interviews have only lasted 29 seconds exactly, I sent a message to club as yet no response, I thought maybe my season ticket renewal had not been registered and I was only getting the start of the interview as a teaser, but I have re registered and my account number is up there when I click on the button any suggestions, sensible ones please.  :)

While the vaccine is still at the experimental stage, it's a huge risk to vaccinate an entire population.

Flipping it round, what happens if we find out 10 years from now that fertility rates have decreased by 90%?

While the vaccine is relatively untested - and hasn't been around for long - it's important to leave a section of the population (preferably the ones youngest and least at risk) - unvaccinated - unless of course they are in a vulnerable category.

The inventor of the MRNA technology being used, was saying exactly this on his Twitter feed the other day

Point taken: so how about we just lock them up for around 10 years; so we can check it out and meanwhile their lack of consideration for other older folk  (who apparently  haven't got long left anyway) is less likely to cause unnecessary fatalities among old farts like me and some others who have COPD and asthma and such like ............ or is their right of self determination over not taking a jab more important than other peoples lives.  Are we really not worth consideration?

I started this as a slightly sarcastic response without wishing to engender a huge and protracted debate on the rights and wrongs of self determination, however given that it really does impact me personally; the latter question is a genuine one.  I have heard that there may be  a time when whether or not you have had appropriate jabs will determine access to ................. work, large gatherings ie; football matches, weddings, flights, it's a huge can of worms methinks.

The away/home strip is not as bad as I first thought , might have been better with black shorts right enough.

Thought this might interest a few who are unsure of the new strip.  I just watched a video of Sam from 'footy adventurers on you-tube where by he (Sam) created his own league table of the Premier divisions worst strip from worst to best , Livingstone's black strip was (in Sams opinion) the worst, gues which Paisley team had the best strip. watch it here.
