  1. Thought it was a joke when I heard McGinn called into Scotland squad but on reflection it just about sums things up. Admittedly there are no fans presently , but pro footballers are there to entertain fans who have to pay for the privilege. This lot don't bother with that part, as they are not up to it. I just heard a sycophantic interview with Clarke where the interviewer danced around trying not to get the manager to admit the display was woeful. It was pathetic and Clarke got off the hook easily. Reminded me of bbc interviewing a government minister .

  2. At least no fans were fleeced to watch that rubbish. Israel was by far the better team, although no great shakes. Most of the Scotland players are vastly overrated and are found out when playing against international teams. Club form means nothing in that sphere. The manager, however, will no doubt feel encouraged enough to pick the same players (who couldn’t even manage one shot in a crucial game, remember) for the next games including against Serbia. It is easier to fool someone than it is to convince someone they have been fooled.

  3. So we have signed two reserve players, neither of whom is likely to either play regularly or score a goal. My decision not to renew my season book seems more judicious by the day. Sorry to say this but cannot see the manager being in place for too much longer, and then we will be back to square one. Possibly in a lower league as well.

  4. After what is generally considered two of the worst performances in recent times, the Scotland manager has picked the same players, more or less, thereby confirming that he was quite happy with the standard of incompetence. Bet he is glad he has moved to England again and therefore out of the firing line.

  5. Looks like we are on schedule to be bottom of the league after our next two games, which is what I could see coming a few weeks ago. I just don’t see any team we could beat at present, and once we go behind, the game is more or less lost from then on. Of course when you have forwards that can’t score ,this is the inevitability. I’m listening to Motherwell being three goals up away at Aberdeen, can you ever imagine us doing that ? Thank heavens we don’t have to watch this rubbish in the flesh.

So 7 games in we have played the top 3 which leaves 4 games 2 wins 1 draw from those games aye shows a really look of being grim

Perhaps read the comment again. I said IF we lose on Saturday, that would be one point from 15 which In my opinion is rather grim. However that’s just my viewpoint, no need to agree.

Forget about the paradigm of zonal defence which seems to dominate our footballing methodology.  How often have we seen two lines of defenders with the attacking opposition standing in between giving them the time and space to control the ball, turn and attack?

Given the talent of the Celtic team we need to ignore social distancing and go back to the old system of man to man marking.  Some of us are still optimistic no matter how unrealistic that may well be but it's not impossible.  Statistically we must be due for an OF victory and provided that the saints go into the game psychologically prepared ( Celtic being psychologically overconfident (( understandably!)) ) we can win!

Very laudable sentiments. Statistically we are due a win, however that would take some effort and a bit of belief. We possess none of that , so Celtic to win easily. 0-4 I imagine.

  8. I should imagine that despite Johnson’s threats of increased police powers , fines and Covid marshals ( bouncers) , the people of England are more than likely to ignore his pontifications as the horse has already bolted since the real prime ministers “eyesight “ test.

  9. Saw the brief highlights last night after listening to some on radio. Despite some pundits trying to gloss over the awful showing, the proof was there to see. An Englishman crossed for an Australian to score , then the most overrated player ever was “tripped” in the box for our second undeserved penalty in a row. No doubt the same personnel will be classed as “tried and tested” for the next round of games and picked again. To be a supporter of Scotland and Saints, I must have done something in a previous life, lol.

  10. Clarke has selected 10 players from leagues which are not playing at present, including at least three who are not even Scottish. Changes were certainly needed after the shambles on Friday but if this doesn’t work out - by that I mean a victory - then unless SC has the shamelessness of a government minister, I would expect him to stand down or if not, be removed from the position. Just to remind everyone, it’s a league selection they are playing. Radio commentary for me and possibly the tv highlights later.

I thought you never bothered watching Scotland.

If you had read properly, I said I don’t get the chance normally as I don’t have sky or bt. I saw the highlights on bbc and the Scotland player took a dive which conned the ref.
