    Not always.

I remember playing a school league match on a completely unplayable blaze pitch which was half covered in two inches of solid ice and the game went ahead. I was the only one without trainers and played with studs. I was like a newborn baby deer. Couldn't run, couldn't stop, couldn't turn. Amazing what kids were forced to play in those days.

    Character building😂

Camphill in Foxbar opened in August 1968 as did the Institution I was being educated in although it had turned into a High School?  As for football boots on a blaze pitch - what else could you wear?  There wasn't a range of sports shoes available in those days.  My first football boots circa 1963 had a moulded sole, covered the ankles and a round toe (and were about two sizes too big so I could grow into them).   I didn't get a "low cut", 6 stud boot (Mitre) until about 1967 and they lasted after leaving school and my final pair were early 70's (Slazenger I think) playing works football till the mid 70's when I knackered my knee and was told I could get a cartilage operation in about 7 or 8 years on the NHS if the pain got so bad I had trouble sleeping?  They said it was the fault of low cut football boots.  Only other options were gym shoes and baseball boots and try kicking a Mouldmaster with either of these.

I did get a pair of Adidas trainers in 1969 (Samba?) but they were part of the "hippy a bit" fashion scene and the never kicked a ball at that price??

In a very literal way given what there is available now, blaze pitches were all weather. Mind you when the athletics track appeared that was my cue to start to find ways to get out of the horror of athletics.

Aye, but hardly "can't drop points" stage of the season.

Jeez sorry I'm sounding like my eldest🥺

Anyway the good thing is I don't have to hear him ranting away, his flatmates at huddersfield uni have that pleasure for now🤣

I agree Maguire and Lindelof are a decent pairing (Ole seems to like that set up) but they, IMO, are at least one full back short of class and then theirs the midfield inclusion of Fred, who has been almost consistently pish poor.

Also Martial only "plays" about 6-8 games a season.

It seems Shearer, what a player, shares my opinion it's wide open this season.

Martial imo needs moved on, rashford needs fergie to remind him he is first and foremost a footy player and that I think all the media stuff(and thank god he did kick off) has maybe taken the shine off his game for now. Fred, wow a 50 million pound mistake ouch.

Leicester currently sitting proudly at the top of the league

I've been saying this for months, the English league is up for grabs this year.

Liverpool, drawing TOO many games, at this stage.

Man Utd, still a few players short, IMO, of having a side to win the league.

Man City, well, a moth ago were miles away but have been stepping on the gas recently, getting quite a few shut outs along with goals, certainly one of the favourites IMO.

Spurs, with Jose in charge, who knows, he gets something from players that most managers don't and with Kane, well anything's possible.

If man utd can sort out central defence and not play lindelof and maguire together then they might have a chance

Maguire/Bailly probably best they got if big Eric can stay fit. Lindelof better with tuanzebe, and then there  is Phil Jones 🤣

Leicester were a generous 7/4, quite decent and I do like watching them

A very good manager and players who, despite playing for a smaller team, perform at a high level.

They don't look as sharp when vardy doesn't start or play tho

Quite a few ex Camphill pupils frequent the forum.

Many paths crossed and then scattered all over the place.

Overall I enjoyed school, although their was little/no direction or guidance given for any future career path.

Mastering the art of playing football with a tennis ball at "playtime" and dinnertime was a joy.

Avoiding the angry wasps that congregated around the litter bins, the bitter cold on the blaze pitches, the pain when the "mouldy" hit you on any bare skin.

Your own swimming pool, a great luxury.

The teachers, usual mixture of good to absolute nutters.

Aye, I learned a lot in school.

One thing that has always baffled me, why they wanted you to have football boots to play on a blaze pitch😲

Today, hard to believe, for me anyway, an astounding 1,610 deaths.

Unbelievable, the deaths have climbed astronomically since Christmas.

Wonder why they have climbed, what could have caused this🙄

Still got another week or so of these higher numbers once the new year huggers...........🙄

You give him FAR too much credit.

Must have been pre 1970 as I went there in 1970 till 1975.

My kids did ask not so long ago what school I went to, so I showed them the pics of camphill in foxbar, the look of horror said it all from the younger ones and eldest said it looked like Alcatraz. No fancy academies then😃. Don't think I've ever come across anyone that could shout louder than mr Miller, p.e teacher since
