Why on earth would you take away the Cup win?

How many Cups have Livi won in the last 8 years?

How many years have they been in the top flight in the last 15 years?

How does that compare to us?

If you really want to talk about consistency then let's start with those questions.

I'm not belittling the cup win for gods sake, the point I was trying to make is that they have been more consistent behind scenes than we have been(granted we have got the hang of it now). What I mean by that, getting promoted to premier with what was largely made up of players from lg1 days, only replacing where needed instead of wholesale transfer window changes. And having those players believing in themselves.

If you read the original post, then you will see all I have pointed out that in JG's time as a player with us barring 1 season was a 10/11 position finish which would be a lot of grinding out results and I have no doubt that sets your outlook on how to approach games.

Do I really care how many cups etc they have won, erm naw.

Just like other saints fans baffled as to how we can be so negative with the team we have got now.

Maybe original post didn't come across clear🙁

  2.  Whilst I am not in any way saying that livi are a better team on paper to us, they are a more consistent club. What do I mean by that? For one, they have had a manager for years albeit in background until recently with Gary Holt fronting it. Martindale has always stated he didn't want his past from getting in way of team and would only consider job when time was right. Secondly they didn't have mass recruitment of players twice a season, which does look ridiculous when you look back along with the revolving managerial door. They also get the best out of what they have.

    Anyway enough about them.

I have had a look at Jim Goodwins  saints career with us and if you take away cup win, every season bar 1 was all about grinding out results and staying up. Not being funny but it must play on how you eventually approach games and what you have been used to.

Not a dig at Danny  Lennon at all as was done with very little financial support and taking chances on players which is commendable. Poor guy was on a hiding to nothing even with winning cup, if you look at interviews after final with lennon and gilmour it was hardly a happy set up.

  3. I don't know about anyone else but I reckon it's time that someone higher up at club has a word with JG & co. Not being funny but the club have backed him to bring better players in, even recently and to go and play a team no better than ourselves really and try to grind out a result is quite frankly crap. Player wise, probably best group I have seen for a while and are capable of much better.

In saying that, wouldn't surprise me if we go and beat livi. It is saints after all.

And ban all talk of top 6 for christ sake, gives them a breakdown by looks of it.

Who knows they were the Championship was the division which was given the most by the Scottish government as they obviously have higher running costs than L1 & L2 (apart from the P/T teams) and little TV income compared to the top flight but they recently got £5M from Holyrood (£500k each)  - I've read on't BBC that Covid testing for the season will cost £40k so there should be plenty left over in theory, but as I say who knows?

Suppose for a nice change it's nothing for saints to worry about

  5. Got to say, cant beat a bit of bangers and cash on yesterday channel. If you are into classic cars that is. Like being back at Reid Kerr on day release in days before you needed a laptop to find out what was wrong with a car🙂

In fact crypton tuners were becoming more common  place at the time😯

  6. It does seem to appear that Hearts will run away with championship and others happy to fight it out for play off places. As soon as 1 starts to make an attempt to challenge Hearts  they start to bugger it up.

In saying that can you imagine the meltdown from Hearts if season has to be made null and void due to covid🤣🤣🤣

They ask where you’ve been. There aren’t many legal places folk can say they’ve been!

If I tested positive (which can’t happen as I’d never get tested) and contacted track and trace (which I’d never do either) and they asked me where I’d been in the last few days then I’d say the supermarket and the takeaway. But I’m not going to mention that I’ve been going round to the in-laws every Saturday night for a bevvy or visiting my parets or having my son and girlfriend over for drinks 😂😜

Oh behave yourself!! Be honest you are getting tired of going by the rules aren't you. same as us all. If you did all you say you did or have done you wouldn't be posting it on here🙄.

So, wee Nicky has stopped takeaway meals and click and collect?

Jeezo, she, and the UK government, are making it harder and harder to take this seriously.

I seriously doubt the rise in numbers is anything more than miniscule coming from these sources.

As I said yesterday, tinkering for the sake of it to be seen to be "doing something", a trait that all governments have been guilty of since day one.

Possibly the death of these business's as the ludicrous idea of putting a table outside or something else when most of these business's already limit the number allowed in, well up here anyway.

    Shambles.

It was starting to look better in summer but then came the eat out to help out came along and from September onwards it's just got gradually out of control. Every business has had to become more covid secure BUT it's not businesses that's the problem is it.

Whilst most will try as best to follow rules, some won't/don't and a £200 fine not anywhere near enough imo

My local overground trains are still running EVERY 15 minutes into Liverpool Street, Tubelines are still about two minutes between trains...

They're maintaining a semblance of normality and I can see the point during busy periods (rush-hour etc) as we don't want crowds breathing on each other, but I have no real rationale or justification for such a seamless transport system still in operation.

Public transport companies are getting paid quite a bit of money by government to operate full services, I would assume it's cheaper in long term than paying furlough and compensation for reducing services.

My two favourite shops in Paisley were The Saints shop and Listen the record store. Boots used to have a decent collection of LPs to IIRC.

Woolworths was quite good in its day for music. Remember the co-op in causeyside st used to take my mum and gran an eternity to get round,  same as arnotts where I can still see me, my dad AND grandad made to stand in middle of a wide isle so we didn't break anything😂😂
