  1. I’ve still got one. Dunno if it would fit you, though.

They were a staple of my student days and beyond. The album Laid is a real favourite and reminds me of when I was living in Edinburgh on placement. Bleak and melancholy but at the same time rather uplifting.

Not a patch on Village Fire.

And in keeping with this thread

Life During Wartime - Talking Heads

  2. Both short stories- and both by a very rich yank who also wrote another novella which was an utterly keech fillum.

Quite correct McB. For those who don't know they are in a book called Different Seasons by Stephen King. Apt Pupil being the other one.

  3. At a wild pot-luck random guess was it something by The Fall?

Good guess Howard, they were number 2 with Austrailians in Europe

    '88' 'youth', aye right......................

There must be some Napalm Death on that one and others from the mid to late 80s.

    Will check that out Thorizaar.

  4. Funnily enough, I've recently acquired 1987 festive 50 in mp3 format. Also got 89 and some from the 90's as well as the all time 50. I'll zap it onto CD for you tomorrow Bernard.

Thanks Ally. Also found a tape of 1988's festive 50 but the quality is not too hot. Still some classics of our youth on it though

  5. Two great choices. Bloody hell, the musical tastes on here in the last wee while have been feckin' great!

Found a tape ( yes I did say tape ) of the festive 50 from 1987 on Wednesday night. Some top tunes on that. Wallowing in nostalgia listening to it... B)

  6. I played the trumpet, dafty. Or was it the horn?

On The Beach is a top notch album. Especially Revolution Blues:-

"Well, I hear that Laurel Canyon is full of famous stars,

But I hate them worse than lepers and I'll kill them in their cars."

Top five this Friday for me are:-

    4. My Life in the Bush of Ghosts – Eno & David Byne; 2 geniuses for the price of 1.

    Great choice Howard.

  7. “Now he’s a poof/He’s got spunk all over his gob!â€

“Goin’ down Blackpool AWRIGHT!/Goin’ down Blackpool for a pint/Goin’ down Blackpool AWRIGHT!/To see the lightsâ€

“Does anyone know his weight?/That’s his fifteenth plate/The fat bastard!â€

Beer and Sex and Chips and Gravy.

    Classics everyone Howard......

the zutons - why won't you give me your love

Seen them last night with Mrs. Albrecht. Pretty good.

  8. Exactamundo, so they’re only writing about where they’re from, like a load of other bands that you like.

By the way, The Macc Lads were ace!

Charlotte is the biggest slag in Macc!

    Name one then......

    20 golden crates.....fantastic

Sweaty Betty has been around I hear :o

  9. Just in from work and got the 1990 House of Love album on (Calling all your albums by the same name is sooo last century).

Shine On, Beatles and the Stones, In a Room, 32nd Floor, Don't know why I love you, all classics and all sixteen years old. I was sixteen when i bought it. Damm you Stella. Where did the all the time go...?

    Great choice NN....... B)

  10. A funny, quite possibly apocryphal, story from Euro 96.

A couple of Scotland fans found themselves in Peter Stringfellow's niteclub after the England game. At the end of the night the man himself is standing at the door to bid the revellers farewell, so one of the Scotland fans shakes his hand and says he was gutted when they closed their Paisley club. Cue bemused look on The Sleazy One's face.
