The strikers TC signed are dire and Reilly isn't up to it either. They should all leave in the summer. Hopefully we can get a few good loan players in to bolster the squad.
-
I like the fact that Teale had the balls to play Mclean up front instead of TC's three dud strikers. If we win against Killie we should just go with him till the summer and back him by letting him wheel and deal in the transfer window, he must have decent contacts from his time in England.

Yes I think despite his age Alex Miller would be fine for us just now perhaps coming in for say a year. Excellent managerial experience and not that long ago no2 at Liverpool. It was really his team that won the cup for us in 87. Good organisational skills excellent coach can spot talent and will have built up good contacts and best of all can kick backsides when required.
I'd take him before some others mentioned but he wouldn't be my first choice.

Potter had a really bad spell at the end of his Saints career but I'm still reckon he was a better CB than Cheesey.
That's not exactly a compliment

If we can't get Butcher then we need to go with a young manager who offers the best qualities. It's SG and his fellow directors job to decide who that is.
-
I would hope that he goes in January and is replaced by someone with experience, who doesn't have that annoying habit of elbowing wee boys in the face and spending half the season suspended.
-
Surely he will go tonight? Are the BOD having a laugh at the fans expense? Go now TC you are the worst St Mirren manager ever!
-
Imo we have the players, but as a unit we are god awful. Not looking good !
Surely you're not including Goodwin?

I think Thommo will get the Assistant Manager job when he hangs up his boots
-
Get rid of Harkins, he's rank.
-
I think Ian Murray will get the job. He's a good young manager who's done a good job with Dumbarton. He also comes across as reasonably intelligent which is always preferable.
-
Hibs. With QOS beating them in the play off final....that would be pleasing

Mair was not very good, our central defence is not very good. Why didn't we sign a CB? Is it down to Danny or the BOD? It been obvious for the last 2 seasons that the central defence needed strengthening and I hope it doesn't relegate us. If we do stay up this is the most important close season since we came back up. Thommo isn't getting any younger so we really needed to strengthen in that area too, without his goals we'd have been fighting with Hearts to avoid automatic relegation.

I don't believe a word of this rumour, i can't see SG allowing it instead of just sacking Danny.
-
Truly awful, score in 3 mins and then ICT take control, big 45 minutes coming up.

.I am a diehard Saints fan but have struggled to motivate myself to go to many games over the last few years mainly because when I do its total turd. The games I have enjoyed are obviously the glory hunting cup runs but also the nail biting excitement and big crowd atmosphere/tension of the relegation deciders. Whilst perhaps a financially precarious situation I would quite look forward to the playoffs. Even if we go down I also think Title/promotion deciders against Rangers and Hearts will be far more exciting than Ross County away.
So keep Danny Lennon and lets get to the playoffs ! I can't see any real downside !
A diehard fan who doesn't go to the games........

Bring back Billy Mehmet as player manager!

Cup win was great. Can't live in the past, Danny isn't a very good manager. Thanks for the memories but we need to move on.
-
The silence from the BOD is deafening!

Why would we possibly want to hold on to Identity Man if he's going at the end of the season anyway? Unless the next manager is at a club and we cant have him just now? Seriously doubt it! Get Calderwood in now and get the fans behind the team and new manager, Lennon should have walked months ago.
-
Look at the table. We occupy that very position as we speak.
Yes and will we get out of that position with Danny at the helm? I seriously doubt it.

The new manager bounce theory seems to be a bit of a myth in the SPL anyway... last year Hibs finished 7th and were cup finalists, this year under Butcher it is looking like 7th is the best they can do. Hughes might just about keep ICT where Butcher left them, Wright might also keep St Johnstone in the top 6 just and no more. The only teams who have improved to any noticeable degree this year are Aberdeen and Dundee United who appointed new managers last spring and who got to assess their squad during the last few months of last season before overhauling the squad in the summer.
We have 9 games left and no opportunity to bring in players.
Any manager coming in would have to work with a squad where we are short of defenders, 2 full backs, 2 central defenders + DVZ on the way back from injury. Upfront we rely too heavily on Thompson although Magennis, Campbell and Wylde (possibly) are OK options for supporting Thompson.
I think that Danny isn't good enough to do the job in hand and will drag us into the play off. Surely It would make sense to try and get a reaction from a new manager or at the worst it would give a new manager time to assess the squad with next season in mind and get players in to change it.
-
Hibs are in danger of being dragged into the play-off-spot-dogfight before the end of the season too, which could make it a 5 team fight.
Even if it is a 4 team dogfight I wouldn't be too surprised if there aren't many points separating ourselves, Killie, Ross County and Killie at the end of the season or if league position places swap frequently from week to week and some weeks we jump up to 8th and 9th while at others we sit 10th or 11th. I think that we will probably just have to accept this will be the reality we live with until the end of the season. A new manager coming in will not lift us into the top 6 and automatically ease any play off spot worries. I don't think we should get too carried away when we hit 8th or 9th or start calling for a sacking when we slump to 10th or 11th. For me, the main thing is if the team are performing pretty well we should trust we can do enough to finish anywhere from 10th to 8th or maybe even 7th.
Today's result was a kick in the plums but the team performance was pretty good for the majority of the game. The performance against Killie and the result were fine. I think we look reasonably solid in midfield and have improved our attacking options a bit and reckon we will be ok in terms of avoiding 11th by the end of the season.
I think everyone agrees we have good players, too good to be in the bottom 2.... The manager isn't good enough.

A new manager would get a reaction. Lennon can't get them to "find their identity" ..... Please take your identity and close the door behind you Danny.

Thanks for the advice on being a "good supporter". I'm not basing this on watching him once or twice, I'm basing it on what he and the other two have brought to the table since they arrived... not much... I'd love them all to prove me wrong, i won't hold my breath.
