  1. I have zero issue with Celtic and Rangers being bigger than everyone else in terms of support (as they have always been) or financial clout (which has obviously become much greater over the last 30 years or so - in Celtic's case anyway).

What I have a problem with is that because they are bigger, everyone else feels the need to suck their metaphoric cocks and be happy for them to scoop up all the revenue, as well as having the voting rights completely sown up too. It still astonishes me that in Rangers absence, the other clubs didn't force a change of the voting structure.

I think the other 38 clubs need to step up and at least create the notion of a rebellion. It's arguable that without Celtic and Rangers in the league, the likely biggest hit on clubs revenue would be a loss or at least significant reduction in TV revenue. However, under the current arrangements, the Old Firm hoover up most of that anyway. In the sense that they can't play each other every week, they need us as much as we need them, so for me a rebellion has to be at least threatened.

Equal distribution of TV revenue, every club televised the same number of times, change the voting rules so the OF can't carve everything up for themselves. If that was to transpire I'd be happy. Even if the OF went on to still win pretty much everything by virtue of being the biggest clubs then so be it. That's life. Every country has its big clubs who win most things.

Of course, this will never happen.

Ffs cant anyone at the club coach players, managers, officials in giving positive spins on difficult situations?

I think someone is needing to coach you on giving positive spins full stop.

This article doesn't need "spun". It is perfectly obvious to anyone who doesn't have a negative agenda what Stephen was trying to say. Sorry, not trying, he managed to say it just fine.

4 games out of 18 with 4000 less fans equals 16000 roughly equating to just under 1000 per game off the top of my head. Almost double their current "increase" so yes I can work how averages are calculated. You are correct bigot behaviour is hundreds of years old but the manager of KFC wasn't personally abused until a few months ago and he was very public in it's condemnation. If you think all these things are not related and this is all linked to Killie's centenary then carry on but most of us can see the bigger picture.  You sound as if you are indeed "only here to see the Rangers" as they love to tell us !!!!

    What!!!!!!

They’ve started abusing the Colonel as well now!!

These bastards will stop at nothing!

Two cheeks of the same arse really. If you feel the need to mock, you've bitten!

see you've given up any debate of the subject in hand now. Can we assume you dont see much difference between us and Dundee now? Its almost like a different season, or new mini league. Forget whats gone before, it doesnt matter at jot. Oran can ensure he's in the job next season by staying up any way he can. But..! He's not alone.

You’re going to need to point out to me where I said there was much difference between us and Dundee??

All I’ve done is mock your ridiculous notion that Dundee are suddenly going to start winning loads of games.

A few who left were signed by Jack Ross. Shame that you want to label Championship winners as duds.

Good to see that you also now realised it takes a number of games to get up to speed after your shameful campaign to sack the previous manager within the FIRST 4 games of the season.

You are truly the most negative poster on this forum.

Hang your head and those of your alias’ in shame!

That’s as maybe, but I’ll bet he knows the difference between aliases and alias’.

    Thats horrific.

You're a day late! Yesteday was meltdown monday.

still you are at least having a stab at this debating lark. I dont believe Dundee have been better than us, and i know given there is only 3 points in it, we have been no better than them. So either team, I believe COULD get the play off spot.

we could lose all five games, and Dundee win one and lose the rest and we are in the play offs. What i fear is Dundee winning on Saturday, and us losing. Then i believe it would go down to the final game at theirs to decide who falls through the trap door, and who meets Dun Utd in a play off.

Hamilton, I think will play the 'dont lose' game and pull a bit further away. Saturday will tell us who is on it, but not who will survive.

Meltdown.  That’s right up there with offended.

You do realise there is a difference between someone biting and someone mocking you yes?

Who said we are not capable?

I said we need to display a run of form we have been nowhere near, just as Dundee need to do. If you weren't so intent on sitting around waiting to be offended perhaps you might even debate the points? But then again...

    Offended??

Utterly hilarious. Which part of my mockery of your nonsense suggests I’m offended?

Ok let’s try this a deferent way. Why are you worried that a team who have just lost 7 games on the bounce, who in their most recent performances have looked like a team devoid of hope, are suddenly going to string a load of wins together?

Instead of expressing worry about a (let’s face it) extremely unlikely scenario, why not speculate that maybe we are more likely than Dundee to go on such a run?

I’ll tell you why, because that would involve you contributing positive thought to the forum whilst in turn denying you the opportunity to spout spurious negative pish instead.

    Who said 'brilliant'?

fyi we have got to do the same...!

Forget about the fact we have been utterly shite, and go win three games/9 points at least. Whose a silly billy now? Goddamit!!

You really do talk some amount of jibberish.

So you are worried that Dundee (who by virtue of their current league position have been even more utterly shite than us) are going to go on a winning spree, but we’re not capable of doing the same.

    You really are a dummy.

I fear Dundee just deciding to completely re-boot, erase their piss poor season, and go out and get a win, and then another.

    :lol:lol

Is that how easy it is? Just re-boot, forget you've been utterly shite for the whole season and suddenly become brilliant?

Goddamnit!! Why didn't we think of that? Oh...wait a minute....can we not just do that as well?

I think the key to this is having an arrangement which fills the South stand but it would of course require the agreement of existing season ticket holders in both W6/7 and in the South Stand. The gain for W6/7 would be financial for that first year but I think it gives them an opportunity to seriously affect (n a very positive way) the next generation of fans. I don't mean that in a patronising way either. I genuinely think this idea might be welcomed by our players as well to be playing straight at a full stand full of noise, flags and colour.

At least the idea has something of a long term solution about it. We may need to compromise a little financially in the short term but better spending by Gus and OK compared to previous regimes would sort that out. Also, as my figures showed, the loss wouldn't really be substantial anyway so the risk is fairly minimal.

I like your thinking here but I only have two personal reservations.

Being old school I kinda like the idea of the singng section being next to the away fans. I think it helps the atmosphere and I never did like the idea of having away fans in the west stand.

Also whilst hearing swearie words never ruined my life when I was growing up, I think modern day parents have a different view on this and may object.

Ironically my middle daughter (now 24) at the age of about 7, heard her first “c**t” in the family stand at Love Street! :D

Given that Baz hs been shown fairly accurate numbers now to disprove his ridiculous "we can buy two players" nonsense, perhaps we can leave him to work it out himself and move the discussion onto what we do now that this experiment has been shown to work considerably less well than expected but with an enormous amount of anger generated in the process.

I would suggest that we move W6 and W7 to the Family stand permanently and then when the OF, Killie, Hearts, Hibs etc. come to town, nobody gets moved at all and we use these areas as overflow only. This is an improvement on the current situation. It also moves our most vocal fans away from being right next to the opposition. That might be helpful in light of the unacceptable conduct by some Saints fans in that section this season. It also pretty much fills our Family stand and finally it means our players are not shooting into the teeth of opposition fans behind both goals.

I think this might be a good long term compromise solution which meets financial needs, the needs of the team to see home supporters behind one goal and the egos of everyone involved. As a sweetner to W6/7 season ticket holders, I'd also suggest a one-off season ticket discount (10% or whatever) as compensation for them moving permanently.

Presumably under this option though we'd need to ditch the concept of a family stand?

Whilst the W7 lads don't sing songs of hate, filled with sectarianism and bigotry, they do have a few wee ditties that probably wouldn't meet the family stand criteria.

  13. This thread is already about 8 pages longer than it needed to be.

Anyone arguing that it is not commercially beneficial to the club to do this is a moron.

The only thing up for debate is whether the (relatively speaking) derisory sum of money earned, is worth it.

This thread could basically have just been a poll.

For the record, I'd be clicking the radio button that said "Tell the minkin' tinks to ram their cash and they're lucky we allow them to pollute one stand of our lovely wee stadium". If indeed that is one of the options of said poll.
