  1. I know where your coming from but you have to remember that tastes change. Take for example the council buildings at mill street. Some people might think that an eyesore other might love it. Some with the Silver thread, wonderful example of 60's modernism or concrete box. The flat complex between Alice street and Stock street, interesting example of 60's town planning or eyesore? Actually that might be an interesting thread after all.

Modernism may not be to everyones taste but it was a specific school of architecture some good some bad. With cladding however - note the Piazza and Glasgow Airport (where Sir Basil Spence must be turning in his grave like a top) is just a cheap cover-up.

I've tried very hard (and I must be congratulated) to refrain from using expletives on this post.

  2. Sonny,

Do you think on your travels around Paisley you could take photos of those architectural disasters which blight our town. Not for any negative motives. On the contary, but as a warning against it happening again. I'm saying this because I don't think our town planners have learned any lessons bearing in mind the monstrosity that is the clad-faced facade flats recently built on the town's prime site opposite the Abbey.

  3. It is an interesting enough article on a pretty superficial level, but doesn't go into the nuts and bolts of the transaction, and how the club is funded to remain a viable operation (revenue streams, etc.).

It is all good and well for someone (he knows who he is) to suggest that this is the model we should be following, but quite how any real sense of how the Wycombe scenario worked/will work in practice can be extrapolated from that article is beyond me.

Well, as I said, it's worth a read.

  4. A pound coin was thrown onto the pitch at Ibrox at the weekend,

Police are trying to determine whether it was a missile or a takeover

    bid..................................

Q: What's got 4 legs and more money than Rangers?

    A: Harry Redknapp's dog!

Rangers are reporting they are reducing staff from their employment: 4

referees, 8 linesmen and 2 members of the SFA have been relieved of

    their duties.

Breaking News: Rangers have just signed a new TV deal. From next season

all of their games are to be shown on the History channel.

Rangers are rumoured to be amalgamating with Hearts! They will be known

as Heart of Midlothian Rangers Club...or HMRC for short.

    WATP? Where Are The People?

Apple rumored to be interested in buying Ibrox stadium. They plan on

    renaming it...to iBrokes.

New Rangers DVD coming out titled “Rangers 1873-2012 Sashes to Ashes.”

The Administrators have taken over Ibrox and have decided in an a

attempt to raise some much needed cash they are going to re-name the

stadium the Inland Revenue Arena.....the I.R.A. for short, but it's only

    provisional at the moment........

It was a nice touch when the kids from Yorkhill Hospital visited the

Rangers players at Ibrox to cheer them up.

My big mate bought a Rangers strip in Tesco yesterday. The girl on the

till took 10 points off his clubcard.

The Sun newspaper today admitted hacking into Ally McCoists mobile

phone................and topped it up with a tenner.

  5. I may well be naughty but i'm not an Airport Cabbie.

Even i widnae have the brassneck to charge a couple SIXTEEN f**kIN QUID to go from the Airport to the Southern General Hospital which happened last week.

I took the couple back to the Airport and the fare metered at an acceptable £7.40.

You should take it up with the cooncil who set the tariffs. BTW, are you PH or a real taxi?whistling.gif

  6. Off topic but heartwarmingly Buddie...

Sitting in a York pub this evening, out of the babel of noise a phrase leapt out for me...

    "She's a St Mirren fan!"

I looked over to see a woman sitting at a table, scots accent, talking to someoneat the bar.

    Nosy, I wandered over.

Excuse me did I hear you say...?

The wee lassie (3 to 6 months old) had been born in Paisley. The mother was from Edinburgh and to annoy her hertz parents always says the wean is a saints fan. Her and her man (on a week's holiday) live in bridge of weir.

    The end. smile.png

    What a wonderful story.wub.png

  7. As much as I would hate the possibility but Rongers are edging closer to getting back on course with little sanction.

BTW, maybe I've missed it being discussed but all the tax dodging done by RFC is of course, bad but what about the players? Shouldn't they under investigation too?

  8. Some of the stuff on this thread makes me despair about the forum.

At a time when the team is performing well on the park, and the club is on the verge of a historic and ground breaking takeover it's quite sad to see some of the stuff that has been posted on this thread. :(

Div, I've noticed in a few threads the threats of violence coming from posters. I know its difficult to deal with - censorship etc., but maybe the Mods have to take a closer look at it and police it.

  9. if, if, if....yer maw... :P

There have been bids in the region of £2M that have been rejected. The rejection wasn't about the cash but about the business plan that accompanied them. The directors as they have always stated are looking for a business plan that will progress the club and protect it for the future.

The more I consider the possibilities for St Mirren and the wider community that the CIC plan offers the bigger the chubby I get for it. The more I learn about Mr Atkinson, the more I think he might just be on the verge of a Saint-hood. The manner in which he has approached his attempts to deliver something quite remarkable is quite humbling.

Instead of petulantly demanding information from Richard we should all be asking the man what we can do to help. :notworthy

'Ask not what your club can do for you but what YOU can do for your club' :heart

  10. Hello hello!

I hope you don't mind me popping on here like this plugging myself, but I've just completed a website where I've tried to chronicle every team in the world who play in the glorious black and white stripes, and I thought you might fancy a look at it.

As a fellow stripe follower - albeit from the much lowlier English mob Bath City - we had a regular terrace argument about how many there were, and it turned into this site. I'm sure that I've missed a whole lot that you lot already knew about, and I'm bound to have been wildy inaccurate in my write up of your lot - but if you are interested in having a look, please do come and visit here...

    http://www.boysinblackandwhite.blogspot.com

I've got 169 at the moment, but I'm sure there must be a few dozen more, so any tips would be gladly received!

    Have a fine season,

    Roy D Hacksaw

    Great site!
