Watching old re runs usually games against Sellic
The defence was a let down apart from Big Jack
That what stop us from going further as we were decent going forward

If the weather was rainy or windy the cameras went elsewhere
I remember there were complaints that St Mirren despite doing well weren't on the telly much
Especially home games against the gruesome twosome and the BBC and STV answered the ground wasn't suited for cameras
Auld Erchie and Arfur didn't like getting wet or cauld

No strike
The TV companies didn't like coming to Love Street at that time
Poor camera positions they said
Got sorted once they built a platform above the North Bank

That what i said earlier
Big Jack was by far our best central defender in that era
Other teams had good pairings
Miller and McLeish
Hegarty and Narey
We never had that and that's how that team never won anything
Really our greatest team who were in the top half of the top league
I miss those days badly

Next game at Love Street they pumped us 5-1
They gave us a right good few doings 7-0.7-1 spring to mind and we had Thompson keeping the score down

My memory of the man he was attending a junior cup tie between Benburb v his home town team Larkhall. The abuse he was talking from the Larkhall fans was terrible.  But he just stood there letting it brush off him

I got stoned at the football once
I actually quite enjoyed it 

Have to agree, if he can't see that our previous manager shelled out for two strikers on huge wages, that don't come up with the goods.

I was one of them. You couldn't really hear the ceremony, but i got to pay my respects to John.

The League Cup , realistically , is the only competition where we might have a chance of actually getting to a final. To lose an early game at home to lower league opposition is pretty poor stuff. 

The boy Healy is a real talent too good for the juniors.

I knew John first by playing fitba. Then it seemed he worked behind every bar I went into. Always had time to say hello and have a wee gab. A total gentleman I last saw him a few months ago when he was watching his son playing fitba. I had no idea he was ill and yesterday like many others came as a shock. RIP John and your cowboy boots
