Did he know that their would be a vacancy at United coming up when he was approached by Saints? Or was there some other reason for him using a large barge pole to distance himself from our managers job?

I suspect he bottled out of following on from the huge success of Jack Ross. Easier to take a gig as successor to an absolute dud such as Laszlo.

I don't really have a problem with Stubbs deciding guys like Eckersley and Mackenzie aren't good enough. They're likeable guys and they played a role in us winning the league by a mile last season, but if the manager decides they're not good enough for the top league then so be it.

The problem was that Stubbs decided they weren't good enough then brought in replacements that were clearly much worse, likely resulting in the remaining players from last season realising he was clueless and had no eye for a player capable at this level.

    This

    Agreed.

    Absolutely that.

They probably weren't available to us during the window.

They were probably aiming higher than us and looking for more money back then. Moves didn't come off and they then lowered their sights.

    Aye, quite possibly.

Still, the point stands that they are probably a bit higher in terms of standard than we might have expected as out of contract options.

Difficult to understand why Stubbs didn't begin with tried and tested professionals like this, and then starting looking for emerging talent in the sixth tier.

Not that difficult. He is evidently a clueless buffoon.

I thought the bodyguard was pish, unbelievable story line and I know he's from Elderslie but I'm afraid the lead actor just can't act.

By comparison, Killing Eve, which I've just finished watching on iPlayer, is an infinitely better bit of telly.

    Agree on all counts.

    Killing Eve is superb.
