Well that's my point :booty I usually sit in W1 and rarely hear them, if they were in the middle of the West Stand the noise they make would travel better and perhaps encourage the more sedate fans but instead they want to be close to the opposition fans to live out their tribal fantasies. If as you're suggesting they're having more fun than the rest of us they should be charged more.:spud5

Are they not in W7 because that's the part of the stadium the club told them they were allowed to use?

The middle of the stand is full of season ticket holders, many of them grumpy auld shites like yourself.

It is a token gesture that helps Derby save face . . .  nothing more, other than the possibility of a percentage back to them if we sell him on (But who knows what's in the players contract)

Can we complain? We got a tidy sum for him a couple of years back and they have trained him for the last 2 - now he is back and signed on a 3 year deal.

Win win win win all day long (So long as he keeps fit and contributed to his ability) . . .:magic

How much did we pay then & what is the sell on percentage?

This from the guy who has a thread just below ‘Why has the director of football failed?’

    I knew this was coming.

Think my post on that thread is pretty clear. The idea of the DoF ensuring stability "season to season even in the absence of a manager" was an abject failure. We got sent out the League Cup by part time and non league sides. If you take the League Cup seriously (as we should) it was an utter humiliation. We should have been in much better shape!

Better late than never though, I am hopeful for the new signings and can see with the 2 and 3 year contracts we are looking for stability.

  4. It sounds like that is the end of our summer transfer business.

    How do think we look?

Overall I would say fair play to Gus & Jim. We have brought in a decent standard of player and got a few on 2 or 3 year deals. It is a shame we weren't ready for the League Cup but hopefully next season there won't be a repeat.

    Looking at the squad I would say;

GK - Very strong, Vaclav is one of the best in the league.

Def - Weak. Baird & MacKenzie as a centre back pairing at this level concerns me, hopefully we won't need to call on that. Waters looks a decent signing but is inexperienced. We lack depth, and will be playing Cammy MacPherson in the emergency full back role when required. Erhanon's days as a full back are hopefully over. Please somehow bring back Popescu!

Mid - Looks strong. Durmus & McAllister as wingers is really exciting, looking forward to seeing Flynn, Foley and Andreu against Aberdeen. Looks like we have lots of energy in there and should be able to hit teams on the break.

Attack - Hopefully strong! I think Obika might do well, and Danny Mullen showed what he can do at the end of last season. Very underated player. Cooke is there as back-up.

Everyone seems to be set up for a relegation battle given our recent experiences but I think we should do ok. My concern is that back line, but I assume we will be sitting back and looking to counter so players like Foley and Flynn will be able to offer some form of shield, and we won't have too many balls going over Baird/MacKenzie.

We should finish above Livingston, Hamilton and St Johnstone.

Bring back Popescu and we could push higher up the table!

Couldn't say as I have never seen Ethan play centre mid. How good is he at centre mid? He has top flight experience and handles the pressure well even though left back is not his position.

He is a bit of a bombscare as a full back to be honest. He has played centre mid for the U21s, and played there for Scotland. He seems very intelligent on the ball, not particularly great at winning it back from the full back position. 6 months or a season playing centre mid somewhere like Alloa would do him a power of good Im sure.

  6. Discussions elsewhere are suggesting our squad is nearing completion, and it still looks rather light to me!

Can anyone who watches the U21s/Reserves/Colts give us a bit more information on who we have ready to step up?

Breadner looks like the obvious one we will see more of this season. A right winger?

Is McAllister the centre half able to step in if needed?

Do we have any natural full backs there? If this is the squad complete McGinn and Waters have no competition / cover.

Anyone else we are likely to see in the first team this season?

At risk of upsetting a few , I think him and Erahon should go out on loan , and given game time in their preferred position .

Erahon certainly should, we have enough central midfielders it is safe to say he won't get a game there.

  8. I also agree with the above regarding a centre half. There seems to be a lot of confidence that our squad is "sorted" after that Hibs game. On paper we look very weak at the back. I was holding out hope that Popescu would return but that is dead in the water now.

Expect 2 players in before Sunday. That will take us to a squad of 21.

I don't see there being much room for anyone else unless we're very creative with a loan or we can move someone else out the way.

We definitely won't have the funds for a Stevie May or a Kyle Lafferty type signing, no chance at all.

Will have to rely on some of the kids at times this season but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The squad will be looking pretty good once these two are in IMO.

I would feel a lot more confident if we could a big striker with a proven track record at this level in. It still looks like we will struggle for goals.

What happened to good old days of local businessmen funding a star signing?

Maybe some of the local IT & web design tycoons could club together for example....

Good interview with Davie Longwell about McGinn & McLeans development through our academy

Odd to think Kenny McLean will be playing in the English Premier while Stevie Mallan is still at Hibs. Hopefully Stevie M can move on soon enough, he is surely talented enough and I hate seeing him in a Hibs shirt playing against us!

Aye, these f**king idiots above have run the forum in to the ground.

@div - surely about time something can be done?

Looking to the game, good to see the McKenna transfer request going in. Hopefully means he won't start on Saturday and can maybe prosper from an unsettled defence.

Carswell and Hutton weren't Journeymen , they were just piss . Would describe the likes of Potter , McGowne , Maxwell , Reilly etc as Journeymen .

Fair point, I apologise to the journeyman community which produces many fine servants for clubs of our size.

Carswell and Hutton are indeed just pish, and bigoted sevco pricks as well.

Anyway what I like about him he’s an unknown like Popescu Muzak and the legend that is Isma

Not to piss on your chips but there has hardly been a shortage of unknown duffers coming through the doors over the years.

We can be confident though. Even the worst of the January foreign recruits, Mr Duck, had something about him. Better these little gambles than journeymen pish like Stewart Carswell and Kyle Hutton.

I'm guessing you haven't been active on twitter in the last week or so? It's been pretty rife.

I took a step back from twitter when one of our directors agreed to a bare bum boxing match with a mentally handicapped supporter.
