  1. We are still playing the experimental game by the sounds of it. Obviously we still have a couple more to come in but they will need time to settle in. There's a nagging doubt in my head that Murray thinks he's Mourinho. He still has to serve his time and I'm not sure that we are the right club for someone like him. Our fans aren't patient enough for starters. It might be different if we lose but show signs of hope for the future. It doesnt sound like that was the case today and if we keep losing the younger players will lose confidence very quickly.

  2. One problem with asking the moderators to step in is where do they draw the line? What constitutes a post worthy of moderating? If it's over moderated then they can't be called moderators, they would have to change their title to extreminators as they would then be extreme in their moderating and therefore no longer moderate. Maybe they could change their title to something like aliasator whereby they only remove posts by people with more than one alias. I'm quite pleased that this post is full of drivel as I can now count myself among the elite! Seriously, or less seriously, some folk do need to lighten up. I love these forums. Yes there is a huge amount of pish but in the days when I bought newspapers I would scan for saints related news and read only that and ignore the rest. It's not that hard to scan but not read whats written and the good stuff has had me in stitches many times. Cheer up for christs sake

  3. There won't be much difference in the fitness between part time and full time clubs at this stage of the season. Dumbartons great result at the weekend showed that we will have to be at our best. Unusually for us we will be viewed as a big scalp to other teams whereas we were constantly the underdog last season. The game at ibrox was more frustrating in that we showed in flashes what are capable of. A bit more of that and with one or two additions to the squad and we might just be a side to challenge at the top but it will take time.

  4. If Thompson really believes he is finished he would hopefully be the first to say it. I thought his early play, winning free kicks and being a general nuisance to the rangers defence, was quite impressive. But, as has been already said, he really really needs someone to read his knock downs. It's easy to criticise him for being too slow but others were guilty of not anticipating where he was knocking the ball to. If we get the right players around him his confidence will return and we will see the player we all know and love.

  5. They say that confidence is everything in football, therefore this is such an important game. A diddy cup it might well be but for us it's crucial to get off to a good start. Obviously we all want the new signings to shine but for guys like Mallon, Mclear etc it's a chance to play with expression rather than the cloud of relegation hanging over them. Let's hope Murray let's these guys play with some freedom.

  6. Sounds like a decision based on stamina. According to regulars at games we struggled to match other teams for fitness. Perhaps Murray has identified this weakness and has acted swiftly to move the boy on. If so then good decision, let's see who surfaces next. Interesting times.

  7. Grew up in ibrox with it's yearly orangefest which always, repeat, always ended in tears, blood and snotters. I personally really hated them as I got older. I enjoy a good debate but I often found myself embroiled in a bitter situation when discussing the pros and cons of orangeism with one of their brethren. They claim to have a right to walk but have a deep rooted bewilderment as to why anyone would exercise their democratic right to object or at least question the modus operandi of their organisation. If this Saturday is an attempt to overcome some of the issues surrounding their marches/ gatherings then it is clumsy at best.As long they present with an attitude that they are answerable to no one and while that is pandered to,then the country is stuck in the 1600s. My dear departed Mother used to call them the bin men cause that what they sounded like in the days of metal bins( showing my age!)

  8. Found that youtube piece quite moving. GT is a man of honour and great integrity, it's a shame that a role at the club hasn't materialised for him. He was instrumental in giving us one of the greatest days in our clubs history and I for one salute him for that. Is he cut out for club management? That's a moot point for now. What's not in question is how much our success meant to him, even after all he had achieved in the game. Now that's saying something. Goodbye Gary and thank you

  9. Could see by thommos expression that this season has really hurt him both emotionally and physically. He is worthy of a season at least. If he stays injury free his experience will win us a lot of games, no doubt about it. The only question mark for me would be over his fitness. His commitment to St Mirren is what we will need in a very tough division. Much will also depend on who he has round about him to provide the ammunition for goals. If Murray puts together a good balanced squad then there will be more goals to come from a fit Thommo.

  10. Whether what Alex Miller is saying is true or not he did not need to go public with his claim. If he thought he might have had any hope of working with the club again then he can probably forget it now. No board of directors in the land would take on someone who has said what Miller said on the airwaves. Pity really because we could undoubtedly do with his experience now.

  11. Either Teale is arrogant or naive. Many people In the workplace have to re apply for their job when a new era begins. He's right in that the board know all about him but if he is not prepared to fight his corner against other candidates then he should move on. Perhaps he already realises that by being invited to apply it would suggest he's not got much of a chance. He inherited a troubled team to be fair, but he has done nothing to suggest that he could turn us around next season.

  12. It's all down to interpretation I suppose but if Naismith had stayed on his feet instead of looking for a penalty he might well have scored. If anything Naismith is pushing himself onto the thistle player more than vice versa. On to the highlights themselves and what's blindingly obvious is that not one of our defenders knows what to do when the ball comes down either flank allowing the opposition time for a chat and a cup of tea before crossing in to score. Whether that's down to poor preparation or players just not good enough, who knows, probably both. Our players look lost and while you have to have some sympathy for them( now that I've calmed down) we must act now and tell teale that he won't be the boss next season and along with the vast majority of the players he must move on and allow for the rebuilding to begin. We need to be ready for what will be a very tough championship.

  13. Over 700 fans travelled to watch a team certainties for relegation. These players should be ashamed. They have represented our famous club without an ounce of fight. Being a St Mirren fan will always bring it's ups and downs, it's the continued capitulation of this group of players that's the hardest thing to take. We need to get a Manager and players with some fire in the belly. Coming away from a defeat when your team has given it's all is painful but acceptable. This crop of wasters need shifted now, hardly a trier amongst them ( thommo excluded and I suspect he has either a persistent injury or knows more about the behind closed doors goings on and it has affected his play)
