  1. He shouldn't have made such a monumental c**t of things over the summer then.

This is the crux of the matter for me. If he did as you say then he is currently reaping what he sowed in the summer. However, surely the BOD are complicit either by letting Lennon dismantle a squad without replacements lined up or failing to get him the replacements he identified.

Before I completely make my mind up on whether he should be sacked I'd love to know the answer to this.

  2. If what you relate in the first paragraph really took place the manager should have been removed immediately.

    This^^^^^^^^^^^

If this actually transpired then the players involved are letting themselves and the club down but you absolutely need strong leadership at the helm of a football club and if Danny can't bring that to the table then he only has himself to blame.

Thing is, if something isn't done relatively soon then it will have to be post the Hearts game IMO as it comes right on the heels of the game on Monday week with the Dandies and the team will have barely enough time to prep for that without a new manager coming in too. I can't see us winning either of those games the way we're playing at the moment and Hearts were to beat us that day we could be right in the shit.

I've never fancied Lennon as our manager from the first interview where he referred to himself in the third person but I am feeling for him at the moment because he seems like a good guy who gives 110% to the cause. He just doesn't appear to have what it takes at this level. The BOD should do the decent thing and put him out of his misery before things get completely out of hand.

  3. Arguably last years run of 6 defeats on the trot, scoring 5 and conceding 15 was worse than we're seeing now. Following that run we went in to lose only 2 of our next 14 games (2-0 at Parkhead and a freak 4-1 reversal to Ross County), so strange shit happens.

Thing is during the 6 game slide we always knew that a big part of the problem was Gowser missing. That's not been the case this time and things are looking pretty bleak at the moment because you just can't see where the goals, never mind the wins, are coming from.

Lennon won't resign, why would he? If the BOD want a change they are going to have to man up. If they don't want to do that then they should come out and give Lennon their full support. He's carrying the can here on his own here and you have to think that the BOD are culpable in some respect for the f**king mess we currently find ourselves in.

  4. The dismantling of the squad in the summer seemed like a good idea at the time but we simply didn't address the issues it left behind and we're still suffering as a result.

We let an experience keeper to and replaced him with an untried kid. Fail.

We replaced our own loan left back with Grainger. I thought that was a good deal. Not Lennon's fault he's playing poorly.

We allowed two left sided midfielders (Carey/Imrie) move on and still haven't replaced them. Fail.

Two strikers left and have been replaced with a panic buy, untried kid from France. Fail.

We brought in Harkins when we patently didn't need him and could've spent the money elsewhere. Fail.

We brought in Caprice. (See above) Fail.

We brought back Newton. Good deal.

We didn't address the right back position, or centre back which has been an Achilles heel for some time and, even now, the striking options are limited despite having months to sort the problem.

The real question I've got here is who is accountable for that? If Lennon has identified targets and the club couldn't close the deals then I'm willing to cut him some slack. If the budget has been slashed significantly to the point where we simply couldn't afford more players then I'm willing to cut him some slack. However, if he hasn't spent all his budget and this is on him then he should be held accountable for the mess we're in right now and dismissed.

If it's not on Lennon then the right thing for the BOD to do would be to come out and say so as otherwise they are selling him down the river.

We finished last season with the nucleus of a good squad and that has not been built upon at all leaving us in an almighty mess. The table doesn't lie. We are the worst team in the league right now and unless something changes we are almost a certainty to be in a play off, or worse, at the end of the season.

  5. Anyone who doesn't think that was a better all round performance today is kidding themselves. I thought the back three were solid all day and were only caught out at the goal due to Gowser and Teale's calamity in the full back area.

With a bit more composure from Conor we could have been very comfortable by HT.

We're still short up front though. Thommo's isolated up there. Bahoken hasn't got up to the pace of the Scottish game yet and wee Reilly looks lost.

That being said the awful record continues and you genuinely have to wonder how long Lennon can survive now.

Fair play to him for trying to change it up today. A wee rub of the green and things could've been different but it looks like his luck has run out.

  6. It's hard to disagree with any of this.

The trouble is that those wanting Danny out are so consumed by what they personally want that they genuinely don't care about anyone or anything else anymore.

It would be easier to switch off the internet.

Usual presumptuous guff from you on the first point. I don't agree with a lot of what the "Lennon Out" guys are saying but I do know several of them and they care deeply about this club. Why don't you stick to sharing your opinions on how YOU feel and let others speak for themselves?

On the second point, you could switch yours off anytime. Trust me, no loss.

  7. Fair play to you Drew but I think we're fighting a losing battle here TBH.

We can be pretty sure of one thing though.

The same people who are booing our team would be the last to tolerate being treated that way at their own work.

I think it's a shame that the people booing simply have no idea what it's like to have to perform under that pressure.

Freedom of speech wins the day and I've run out of things to say to persuade people of the impact this is having so I'll leave it to you.

Do you know what Oaky, you don't half spout a lot of rubbish at times and posit your own views as if they have some basis in fact. Point in case? "People booing have no idea what it's like to perform under that pressure". You have absolutely no idea what these guys do for a living or what pressure they're under so give it a rest.

For the record, the abuse meted out to some of the players by a completely moronic minority yesterday was out of order, however, a good, healthy dose of booing at the final whistle was completely understandable and I'm not sure any of the players would have taken umbrage with that.

Drew, I always find your posts to be reasonable and you are always respectful of others views so I'll simply say I don't agree with you on this one and leave it at that.

  8. ligthen up, for god's sake

Listen mate, I know you're pro-Lennon and that's fine but even the staunchest DL supporter has to be taking stock tonight. We were shambolic today and things have been poor for some time now. Sometimes a new face with different ideas is what a struggling club needs. It might just be time to cut ties and move on.

  9. Surprised at the fans? I was actually, even when we're winning some idiots in the family stand are shouting abuse.

Must've been a few isolated individuals because from where I was sitting, in the main stand, it sounded as if the support really got behind the team, more than I've heard in previous games. It really is quid pro quo, however, and the team did very little to lift the fans IMO.

  10. Look, the reality is that he's not going to get the sack anytime soon so get behind him FFS.

I don't think he should be manager FWIW but he is and if he turns things around then that'll be great. If not, the the BOD will take action at the appropriate time.

Some of you guys on here need to get a grip though. This should be a forum for sharing our views and challenging others if we don't agree but the level of smart arsed pettiness and downright OTT abuse that gets thrown about is really playground stuff and most of us should be too old for that shite.

A win tomorrow and a few days peace on here.

    Here's hoping.

  11. Danny isn't going anywhere after what he's achieved the last two seasons.

No way would a sane board of directors fork out money to replace him.

The quicker people accept that the quicker our team will recover .

I agree that Lennon isn't going anywhere at this stage of the season but he should certainly be on notice for the league performances we've produced over the last 6 months.

I don't agree that acceptance of that fact could act as some sort of catalyst for improvement though.

The player selection, formation and tactics have played a major part in the current run and only the management and players can figure that out.

Another couple of signings before the end of the week would help but there is so much wrong with how we're playing right now that it'll need more than that.

Right now I'd settle for a shitty 1-0 on Saturday to give everyone at the club the chance to reflect and agree what needs to change.

Last night was a blow though, there's no doubt of that.

  12. All of you people saying our league form isn't good enough.. Serious question, compared to what? Previous st mirren teams? If so, when? Because we've been pish for years and no swapping of the management is going to change that.

At least DL is bringing through youth and every so often we get a barca-ish performance, you cats need to realise when it's good

Honestly mate, you're one of the worst trolls on here.

  13. Firstly, I'm not a Lennon fan and, to be honest, if he left I wouldn't really care, however, something stinks here.

If you're Lennon then you must be able to see the deficiencies in the squad and with money to spend why wouldn't you spend it? If he hasn't been able to identify players that would improve this squad then he probably should go. If, however, he has given targets to Caldwell and they haven't been secured then the BOD need to come out and say so to takenthe heat off the man.

The only other option I can think of is that there is no money and he's working with one hand behind his back and is too nice a guy to call the BOD out?

Not sure what the truth of it is but we've got a squad bereft of quality and confidence at the moment and if he is to get the sack then I'd like to know the truth of it and the only man that's likely to give me that is Gilmour.

If there's nothing coming out of the club before Saturday and we lose to the Jags then there's no way back IMO.

  14. They'll certainly be less fussed than they used to be.

I agree that we need probably 3 more players in given our start.

2 strikers and probably a defender now as well because it's clear the kids won't be given a chance by the fans.

More important however that the negativity and nervousness of our players is sorted ASAP otherwise 20 new players won't keep us up.

Not sure why you think kids wont be given a chance? As far as I'm aware any kid that's been "blooded" into the first team has always the fans support, even from those who want the manager out. Wanting a stronger squad with an experienced spine does not equate to not supporting youth. I'd love to see Reilly given his chance this season in the same way McGinn broke through last year. I just don't want to see him pitched in wide right of midfield when he's a striker.

Agree with the last part though.

  15. I mean opinions that have a basis of fact.

    Haha "facts" ?? Goon

They actually are facts, truths that can't be questioned. Danny Lennon has brought is our highest points total and highest goals per season in spl history.

"Our goals against record last season was shocking"

This is a "fact". You see?

I don't know if that's true, if we are averaging 8 wins a season but if it is indeed true it must be an improvement or we wouldn't have had our highest points total now would we?

Ok then, facts. Last season's goals against tally was the worst of any year since we returned to the top flight. Better?

We've been hosed 3-0 on our last two away trips so it looks as though a trend may be developing but ill leave that to others to decide.

We could go back and forth all night on the facts but the real question is do you feel that what we've been watching over the last year in the the league has been good enough? If you do, then no amount of stats will convince you otherwise and we just see it differently.

  16. 2 defeats out of 3 games in the league and everyone has pished themselves.

    Some things to consider

The vast majority of negative posts come from the same 3 people with multiple aliases, the rest from people that believe everything they read on the Internet to be fact and are therefor too stupid to form their own opinion.

The board will not be sacking Danny Lennon, it's simply not going to happen. He has brought in exciting players and always has an eye on the future (bringing in several under21 players for the future) In his tenure we have scored more goals and accumulated more points than any previous SPL season. Of course won our first ever league cup, the first major trophy for a generation.

But let's not let facts get in the way..

This "He's lost the dressing room" pish is fabricated nonsense

f**k the lot of ye's am off for a wank

When you say "form their own opinion" do you mean one that reflects your views?

Also, the "facts" stack up both ways. Our goals against record last season was shocking. We're averaging 8 wins per season throughout his tenure. We've won a single game since we lifted the League Cup. We have not replaced the players that were told to go.

    Enjoy your wank.
