St.Mirren v Morton Challange Cup 2005/06 I think. 3 - 1 down in the shoot out. Few weeks later we lifted the trophy through at Airdrie

I had a special fish from it on Sunday, good sized fish and chips were nice. My only negative would be that the breadcrumb coating came off the flesh very easily which resulted in big bits of coating being eaten at the end. Might just need to get the temperature adjusted on the fryer to remedy. Oh and it was a bit steep £9.

Does Seem a bit steep for fish & chips . In their defence , none of that frozen fish crap, all fish are caught fresh daily just below the Hammils . 🐟

O'Hara remains our prime playing asset and Ayunga's form of last year could well put him in the mix for a starting place in games where we will soak it up and hit on the break.  Grieve seems far happier coming off the bench and taking advantage of tiring defenders and I suspect that is where he will stay.  Small is also back and on a one year loan he is going to be playing sooner rather than later.  Overall a good position when a larger squad is needed, remember how badly we faded in the final 5 or 6 games of last season, that is far less likely now

I am concerned that the younger players will get less game time now that the squad has been strengthened, Robinson does not seem to me to be the kind of manager to give a player a run just to help him develop.

    I agree with this.
Much as I think youth is the lifeblood of clubs such as ours, there’s no doubt that the “conveyor belt” of talent we have produced over the years doesn’t seem to be producing as many first team regulars under Robbo .

There are lots of promising youngsters but not many getting first team game time but as we are doing very well, playing some of the best football many have seen for some time & competing well against teams with budgets well above ours , how many would trade that for a team bringing through youngsters and us being a yo-yo club ?
I think Robbo has a very clear idea of what works, if any youngsters are going to break into the first team and keep their place , they are going to have to be McGinn or Lambert class .

Has anybody got, or had experience of using a motorhome?

Mrs Faraway has decided we'd love one.

Me, I'm slightly on the side of "NAW"".

We hired one the year before covid hit & done 8 days across the western isles & West coast .   Amazing adventure , the freedom to roam & explore is great .

There are as with everything, a few down sides.
Remember, everywhere you go you have to take your Holiday / break accommodation with you.  Not brilliant if you just wanted to pop somewhere a few miles away for a quick visit.

Unless you’ve got experience of driving something transit size & up , maybe a wee test drive to see if it suits.

watch your mirrors on the narrow C roads ( from experience 😫

Guy got interviewed on radio about the fact his flight home from his stag do in Spain has been delayed which meant he had to stay another night & he wasn’t happy as he doesn’t like flying.

Here’s an idea ya f**king clown ……if you don’t like flying, don’t f**k off to Spain for yer stag do !!!

  6. I’ve made my views on VAR very clear in previous discussions & the events of yesterday simply strengthened my opposition to it .

As someone said, it’s the same clowns who are making the decisions but taking f**king ages to do it ……and in many cases , still getting it wrong .
Im sure someone will come along and say they get “most calls”  correct but to have three or four officials watching multiple angles / replays / slo-mos and missing things like the penalty is unacceptable.
Two points stolen as a result of incompetence of a ref or linesman is bad enough, we can bemoan these things over a pint in the pub or online after the game but to have a whole team of officials f**king it up and having to pay extra for the privilege is galling.

Extra cost to clubs, ridiculous delays and infuriating decisions - get VAR to f**k .

Would have hoped both might have played at higher level, especially Offord

I’m not sure Offord is ready yet for a step up from where he played part of last season .  A season in Lg 1 will do him the world of good …… if he gets regular game time. I’m not sure he’d get much game time in the championship.

Taylor is going to play at the same level as McMenamin did , which I would say isn’t much different from the standard of lg1 here.

Could have been about 7 but for there keeper making 3 excellent stops in first half second half they came out and had a go at us but once we got 3 Rd we settled back down Nahmani took his 2 goals very well but we need to remember the level of opposition hopefully he can keep it up and I will happily hold my hands up and say I was wrong .

If you’re a good lad, maybe Santa will bring you a punctuation mark or two this Xmas.    Oh, and it’s their keeper - not there keeper !

And so it came to pass.

Got to hope that the wee fall Murray had just before the game was stopped isn't anything to worry about.

Although Murray wanted to play on last night, can’t help but feel the break might work to his advantage as far as that fall is concerned.
To have him play on potentially injured , you’ve got to think it would only get worse.
Having had the opportunity overnight & today for his medical team to treat any underlying issues has to be the best thing for Murray .

been thinking about it, and it should be pretty straightforward, ie any gap and the attacker is onside and if it looks like a defender is stretching his hand out purely to grab a bit of attacker so there is no gap, then the ref can rule accordingly if he thinks its cheating then give the goal.  As I say seems clear to me anyway

    So ……. Penalty Rangers ?  🤔😂

Aye, coz it's always 5 minutes THEN studying 6 playbacks.

Here's some FACTS.....................and the new rule, if it becomes accepted across the board will almost certainly see more goals and still get the VAST majority of decisions correct.

The majority of VAR checks have been silent with just 17 on-field reviews from 223 checks. The longest on-field review was just short of six minutes and the average is at 2.33 minutes. When taking all checks into account the average is 51 seconds.

"It has done what it was meant to have done, it’s improved a number of decisions,” Maxwell said. “It’s not perfect no-one said it was going to be, but it’s working and it’s helping the referees get more decisions right which is why we brought it in.

"Obviously there has been a bit of frustration about the time it has taken. It’s a new process, nobody was entirely sure how it was going to work. If you look at the stats we are not a million miles away from the time it takes VAR globally to reach a decision. It does take time to get it right.

How can they say the average is 2.33 then say the average is 51 seconds ?? 🤷‍♂️

I was obviously behind my facetious with my timings ( something that has obviously eluded you ).
if the average is s just 51 seconds - wonder why so many matches had so much added time 🤔

I simply don’t think VAR has added anything to the game - I’d much rather have a ref make a mistake than some panel 100 miles away make the decision .

it’s just not for me thank you 👎

not offside within this new interpretation, so long as there is no gap between the attacker and defender, then the attacker is onside, perhaps not perfect .....as per your example of a sneaky attacker holding on to a poor unsuspecting defender......... but certainly a considerable improvement on the current (pardon the pun) state of play, surely.

I understand if these new rules are applied , he’s not offside but we’ve now gone from a toenail making them offside to a glimpse of a heel making him onside. Still gonna have 5 minutes of ref holding his earpiece then studying 6 playbacks . ( and still f**king it up !)
Get it as VAR VAR away as possible  😬

  13. Are we sure about the passing of this fan ?  I’m sure SR said the person was sitting up .

I’ve searched online for an update , nowt on Beeb N.I.  Or local news and even the Linfield Twitter doesn’t appear to be saying much other than a fan took I’ll.
Very very sad if it is the case that a fan died, hopefully  that’s not the case & he is in fact ok and recovering.  🤞

  14. I think we should publicly announce to the last penny what we get from every transfer .

It’s only fair that the employers & agents of any potential targets know exactly how much spare dosh we have when negotiating . 🙄.

Good that you are continuing the debate.

International humanitarian law is based on the 4th Geneva Convention and I suggest you look at its Article 49 and see how it applies to Israel.

Once upon a time I supported Israel.  Why? Because I read the media which was behind Israel as it is today.  Then I read some history on the issue.

Jaybee, what we are seeing today is 19th century colonialism here in the 21st where Palestinians are being ethnically cleansed from their homes and land.  The Zionists in 1947-48 pushed out 750,000 Palestinians out of their country so Israel could be established and to ensure they had nothing to come back to, Israel bulldozed over 500 Palestinian villages.  To prevent those refugees from returning home Israel pass in 1954 a law which named them as, 'infiltrators' and many of them were shot and killed as they tried to go home.

Unfortunately, Jaybee, the Palestinians suffered from European anti-Semitism and are still suffering.

I’d just like to say again, Welcome aboard Stav . 🙄

Henderson was out of contract and didn’t want to sign a new contract. He didn’t start a single game for us last season, which was our most successful for 38 years.

I’m not really sure how St Mirren or the manager can be criticised here?

Henderson would only have stayed had he been guaranteed regular first team football. What was the manager supposed to do? Completely change the formation and tactics of the most successful Saints side in 38 years to accommodate him?

Good luck to Darren. I’m sure he’ll come back to haunt us. But we’ve received a transfer fee and a % of any sell on so it’s a good deal for everyone

Aw f**k !  Has Darren gone too 😡
