At the end of the day the model the club is built on after we moved from Love Street is to nurture and develop our own players and then sell them on.

The work that David Longwell did and the investment the old board put into Ralston has now started to bear fruit.

McGinn, McLean and McAllister have already gone and whilst there was much derision at the time on the fees we got for all three, they all have sell on clauses which will hopefully help us to realise a more reasonable value for them if/when they move on to their next club. There's no doubt in my mind that all three of those WILL go on to attract seven figure fees in future.

Whilst we want to see these young players stay for as long as possible it's also important not to stand in their way. Mallan has a year to go and deserves a big move. He's not on big money at Saints and if rumours are to be believed the offer on table from Barnsley in January would have seen him earn 5x his salary right from the word go.

Footballers are humans the same as the rest of us and this is their career. You can't blame anyone for wanting to get on and better themselves like that, particularly when their career will be over in their mid 30s and where they are potentially only ever one bad tackle away from being out of the game for good.

If we can get a decent transfer fee for him then he should go with our best wishes.

Magennis and Morgan are slightly different as they have longer to go on their contracts but again if a big club came in for them then we have to be realistic.

On the loan back thing, it's not always as easy as it sounds. Saints tried very hard to get Derby to agree a loan back on Kyle but they weren't having any of it. They have made a decent investment in the boy and want to continue to develop him themselves, playing the Derby way and integrating with his new team-mates.

We don't need to sell, so we should only sell at our valuation or more.  Do you agree Div?  What is your valuation of Stevie Mallan?  Mine is 7 figures.

Selective in your choice of quotes please see my last one on this topic. I am sure if I went through anyone's quotes on here you will find quotes that have made them look silly.

If we finish up avoiding relegation I will happily eat a massive slice of humble pie but we are not safe yet and if we don't stay up I won't be digging your quotes out and saying a told you so. I gave my opinion at that time on a topic posted.

Jack took over on his 1st game on 15th October and won two out of his first 15 games. Since the Ayr game in February we have had the most incredible turnaround and nobody is more happy than me.

    Here's something constructive.

During half-time, is it necessary to have the volume at  level where you need to shout to have a conversation with someone standing two feet away from you?

I noticed at  the Falkirk Stadium that they were still playing music, but it was background noise only, and was much better for it.

If there's no dance floor, there's no need for that volume. It's just a pain in the arse.

Aha!  You must sit in The Main Stand then.

Music being blasted at top volume is one of the blights of the modern game (or should I say "the matchday experience").

2013 Cup Win being a prime example.  Full time, Saints fans making plenty of noise, but then get drowned out by the worst electronic pop shite known to man.

A few classics to get the crowd warmed up and a good tune to run out to is great.  Otherwise lets leave it to the fans to make the noise, which we finally seem to be doing at home!

You're right about the Cup win.

I guess I must have hypersensitive hearing as I always find the "music" too loud in the main stand. I also think that the volume control on the chat and announcements could be turned down several decibels.

Sometimes this season, the only PA sound to be heard in W3 was from the Main Stand.  I kid you not!

Yeah, and Faithless' God is a DJ for the entry music.  ignore the request for thrash metal.

Even better is the fact, IF JR proves to be the next generation Fergie, we have a board unlikely to kybosh his ambitions.

Here's hoping JR doesn't pump any of the BOD's Wifes/Partners (allegedly)

If we don't get them back on loan, it's simple. We don't NEED to sell, unless silly money is offered (and by that I mean 7 figures).  Sell the idea of a medal and convince the said players that with longer Contracts they'll be queuing up to sign them next year when we win the League, giving the Club, Players and their Agents a nicer bundle.

C'mon guys!  You know it makes sense :thumbs2

Why would anyone want to join in with an opposition victory song? Hibs deserve a round of applause as they run on, and when they get the trophy. That's it. It's nice to be nice, but there's no way I would want to belt out an opposition anthem.

We can just listen to it's beauty and follow it with Oh When the Saints :clapping:clapping:clapping

  6. I too think the SMISA Board/commitee are doing a fine if thankless job and wish them all the best.  I  do hope the points on communication, consultation and clarity will have their full attention in future. I was however disappointed with the running of the meeting and the abrupt end.

The meeting itself only lasted around 30-40mins if I remember correctly.  There was plenty time for more questions, which were not asked for. If there was a round of applause at the end I don't recall one (I was gobsmacked), perhaps it was for the "there's a game to go to" comment.

Someone at the AGM was taking minutes.  As a starter for ten on communication issues, I look forward to reading them.

Can I ask a simple question? We have one person saying (I paraphrase) - everyone asked their questions, explained the show of hands, the meeting was normal, it ended, and everyone went about their business.

We have another person, who was at the same meeting, saying (I paraphrase) - people were unable to ask their questions, the meeting was quickly shut down by an irritated SMiSA committee, the chairman waded in to answer questions that weren't even his domain, the SMiSA committee treated people with disdain, and they were effectively stopped from asking a follow up question, and the explanation of the show of hands is completely different from the first person.

I think I have summed up Tsu and Pityme's positions on how the meeting went reasonably accurately given what they've posted?

One must assume that such a wide differing opinion on how a meeting really went is not possible. Someone is lying about what actually went on in this meeting.

Can anyone who was there who isn't Tsu or Pityme enlighten those of us who merely frequent the forum?

I was there, I missed the very beginning of the meeting when the Supporters Direct person was introduced.  I have no axe to grind here, but I thought some of the proceedings were a little strange and rushed.  I believe clarity and communication between the SMiSA board and the General membership on the pints raised need addressed by the commitee.

To Clarify, Gordon Scott did interrupt the proceedings to answer one of LPMs questions, which was surprising but didn't really bother me, but if he wanted to contribute, he should have asked permission of the Chair.  GS then left shortly afterwards. The questions being asked and answered were centered on the Constitutional changes, the Loans and the rest of the Agenda.  The Chair did ask if there were any more questions, but that was during discussion on a specific item above.  There was no "So before we close the meeting have we any more questions". The meeting finished very abruptly one hour early.

I certainly did have a couple of questions I wanted to ask.

I am sure other members there, felt the same.

what was the unneccessary comment by the chair person

It went something very similar too "Ah... there's Tony with his hand up like a wee child in the Classroom".  I thought that was crass.

You are completely missing the important point that yes, I would imagine that most members if given the option would vote to approve the £15k USH loan, and the £50k revolving credit facility. The problem is the committee knowingly breaching the constitution and governing legislation by refusing to properly inform and consult with the members in advance of a decision.

what happens if the club cant pay these loans back? We have been told for years the club needs additional funding each season to get by, so its highly possible they could default, and given there is no security over these loans that would mean the memberships money, which was ringfenced to buy and only to buy the majority shareholding in the club being lost.

Gordon has smisa in his pocket and sees our funds as a source of finance he can tap into whenever he chooses, the committee give him everything he wants including buying new Hof boards instead of refurbing the existing ones because Gordon wants new ones.

and just to correct you it was me who asked for the show of hands and less than half present indicated they knew during buy the buds that the committee intended to loan the club another £50k.

If Gordon insists on brand new HOF boards, then he should contribute the difference towards them..

As LPM states the show of hands was just for those that were aware of the £50k koan.  I would say it was 50/50.

Two observations on the AGM...I was a bit shocked about the the chid-like comments from the Chair when LPM (quite rightly) put up his hand to ask a question and the very abrupt end of the meeting.  The members were not asked if there were any more questions! I had a couple and I am sure there would have been more, given the chance.

I look forward to the SMiSA board being more open, with publishing minutes (which I think the Board accepted yesterday?) and consulting members beforehand of any major spend (anything over £500 I believe?).

Ok I will start it off.

54 in June, supported Saints since I was 12, my Grandpa was Paisley man, Coats worker and Saints daft , He was at 1926 Cup Final, said Paisley was empty that day

    This is confusing and concerning.

I believe Buddiecat was alluding to the fact that Official Confirmation of the repairs by The Club has not been given.

I would have thought some statement in the Club News on the Official site informing of such and thanking SMiSA for their input will be forthcoming.

  11. As usual when Mr Thomson is in charge of our games he over-compensates to show he is not biased, which means we get a hell of a lot of decisions given against us... or so I thought... I now think he is biased...

I realised on Saturday that although Craig did indeed gave Falkirk a lot of free kicks against us, very few were in a dangerous or telling position.

    I now think he's a tremendous Referee

I suspect if we looked back at his other games with us, they would tell a similar story.. Well concealed Craig :)

I hope the new guy continues with Phil's excellent habit of thanking the away support. That followed by applause is always a nice touch and kind of unites fellow diddy clubs. We stopped doing it after the Ayr fans poor reaction to Lewis Morgan's injury and didn't do it against Dumbarton. It's a nice touch. All the best Phil.

Is it f**k, it's cringeworthy.  For some Saints fans it's the ONLY time they applaud FFS

There were so many complaints about it, Phil eventually had to add his wee patronising "and thanks to the Saints fans for their continued support"

Think Alex Rae. Its about time you acknowledged that you were wrong about Ross, and stopped being a bit of a fud.

    A Clitoris, if you will...

or maybe his Labia Lips will manage to say something humble?  Doubt it, cos if you roll back the Beef Curtains, you'll see he's still a bit of a Pie.

His attempts at defending the other Fud Alex Rae have all been blown down the proverbial Fallopian Tubes!

Looking at the BBC, based on the last 10 games, Saints are top of the league by a wide margin...

    Its a remarkable turnaround indeed.

If we avoid relegation then I will happily concede that I was wrong.

Its very rare that I am wrong. Indeed I have never been wrong before.

Maybe we can do a Leicester and use the moment to go on and win the league next season?

If we can keep most of this squad then you never know.

We may lose Mallan but you would think we might have a chance to keep most of the main guys? And add a couple?
