It became Simons in 1985 Colin , the owner was one Jack Kinsell , a bluenose but a nice one , if that's possible. He ran a proper boozer , quiz nights , Discos,  and was one of the first to show live football on a massive screen. A Celtic bus ran from the bar , and a Rangers bus ran from the lounge , and when the demand was there during cup runs etc he ran a St Mirren bus too. He sponsored the football team that I was running at the time and poured relatively big money into our club , at that time we trained 2 nights a week and played Saturdays , and we were duty bound (league rules) to offer our opponents hospitality afterwards. So that was a nice wee earner for him in return.  It was after that , when JK suffered ill health and sold up , that the place descended into being a place to avoid , which was a real shame. A lot of happy memories in there !

Aha... Simon's that right, had a couple of years in that before we moved.  Good pub!

What's The Heilanman's called these days, Vambo?

Dunno, when I left Renfrew abot 32 yrs ago, it was Morrison's and the last time I was down that way it was Mark Hateley's pub (dunno what it was called, but you could tell from the Blueness of it outside, that it had went downmarket!

Don't know if this has been mentioned previously but I've just been sent this link about an underground pub in Paisley town centre. I'd certainly never heard of it. Interesting stuff.

Linky no worky Herbie?  Is that the one that would now be under the Piazza?

First pint I ever bought was 1/10p in the court bar at eight o'clock in the morning waiting for the bus to Aberdeen. Think in was 12. Few rules broken there.

Think I was on that bus too, but never got a pint.  You were tall right enough!

A green version similar to this, as I disremember:

The 4 Of Us playing at Clutha Vaults for free on 13 Oct. Given I paid 15 quid to see them at a busy Oran Mor this year, that's a coup for The Clutha.

What time are they playing at mate?

Summary.................KT Tunstall, short (30 min) set, talented musician and good chanter, got the day off to a good start.

The Pretenders...........considering I only knew about a third of their songs the 90 minute set was very good. Chrissie can hold a tune and put on a very good show.

Simple Minds.............only seen around 30 minutes, reason below.

Crux of the matter is people turn up half drunk, and I had a few drinks before and during, but seem hell bent on getting smashed and not giving a feck about anyone else which became increasingly annoying.

Another sign people don't give a feck about anybody else except themselves.

Wouldn't go to an open air/standing only concert again.

After they sorted out some guitar sound problems, the 2nd half of Simple Minds set was excellent.

We stood in 2 locations in the Silver band area and never saw any bother with drunks at all.

You should have moved elsewhere and enjoyed the show.

Yup and it can double up as a drum like it did at East Fife a couple of seasons ago.

I actually thought about having a bin at the football on Tuesday as my guest accidentally dropped her pie (not a euphanism).

I've always assumed that someone is employed to pick the rubbish up after the football.

Would we be doing someone out a job if we all used bins at the football?

Fwiw I am very conciensous about litter and never drop it though for some reason I'm happy to leave my tin foil pie holder and Bovril cup at my seat. Should I be having a rethink? I wouldn't drop something that could blow away, for example a Mars bar wrapper.

Normal size Cooncil Wheelie bins could block the view of fans sitting in the front row, never mind  the view of those in wheelchairs

I think that if it wasn't for the Bungalow I probably would go to a pub in Paisley anymore.

The Old Swan, The Cave and now apparently Harvies Bar all do live music, admittedly mostly cover bands, but lively nonetheless.

  8. My Last words on this thread.

It is simply WRONG to use our Ring-Fenced money for any other purpose than to buy the shares.  Let alone have the priviledge to pay back the £50k out of our own contributions.

You swerved my question,  we'll done.

As Vambo suggests I'd be more than surprised if the words of halfwits on a football forum would alter anyones daily work approach.

Wisnae me who said that Bud.  But, the mgmt have and  might get some good ideas from here.  The tunnel work being a prime example.

Let me get this right, is this genuinely receiving a unanimous vote of approval? From St Mirren supporters? On here?

That must be a first, no?:o

    Not Quite...

Went to the Bungalow to see the Kinks tribute band they were good but volume was low for a live band no punch to the music. Is there volume restrictions in the Bungalow ?  Got in with my Saints top on. Said to the wife we will need to have a wee night in Paisley , she is up for it :D

it's normally too loud in the bung, especially the vocals... might have been the band's choice?
