  1. Where are you seeing that ?

In hindsight I should have captured the weblink but I was too concerned trying to fend off the fact that the page wouldn't let me leave his website.

I was on this page. I might have hit the back button or something. I admit to panicking a bit though. Thought I'd hit a porn site at first with my kids in the room and volume up. Had to change my pants.

  2. Think I have hopefully traced the root cause of the issue, and tackled that and now also cleaned up the file system again,

Fingers crossed we are back to normal.

    This isn't fixed Div.

You still have at least one page auto re-directing to some twat's website named David trying to flog some scam thing about making hundreds of pounds a second. I thought all this shit was banned 20 years ago.

  3. By all accounts, He was the main man on this Forum ? One of the reasons I joined ! Bloody good forum if you ask Me .

So you joined AFTER he was banned and yet he was one of the reasons why you joined?

    Hmmmm.

  4. Took you a while to spot my deliberate mistake. Like to keep people on their toes. Bluto has never been confused in his life. Surprised he hasn't been on to tell you that. He has been confused for something else on occasion.

Are you really a female? Naturally I'll go easy on you if you are. A gentleman to the end.

Or a sexist pig! That is the natural alternative.

I'll leave the gallery to decide.

  5. I'm not just being wise after the event but there was always something about this creep that made me uneasy. I used to think he was gay back in the early days of TOTP and of course in those days it was still illegal for males to have consensual sex with another man. Turns out he wasn't gay but a sexual predator and a paedophile. May he rot in hell. Certainly sounds as if an awful lot of people out there should be ashamed of their behaviour and their unwilligness to speak up at the time.

As I've mentioned before, I enjoyed a classical education at Camphill. 'The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones'. Who said that? ( Bluto canny take part cos he was there at the time!) I don't care how much Saville raised for charity.

Was it pop starlet Pink? Or was it Rihanna?

  6. Ah, yet another thread changes its subject and becomes all about the brave and bold Obi-Wan. You couldn't make it up. punk.gif

What you couldn't make up is an apparently full grown man who likes to change his aliases more often than he changes his shirts.

    It's a bit pathetic really.

I'd seriously be interested in knowing whether people who post under more than one username are:-

    1) Trying and failing to be funny.

    2) Weird.

    3) Mentally unhinged.

    4) Attention seeking.

    It's one of them.

    Start the bidding.

  7. A cost benefit analysis isn't straightfoward, as it would be based on an estimate of how many additional supporters turned up per match as a result of the introduction of this facility. Not easy to quantify, I'd suggest. It could potentially prove to be cost neutral at worst if enough waverers opt to turn up at a sufficient number of additional matches (for example). For me, this is all about offering an additional facility that is flexible, and is likely to prove attractive to supporters. I think it would be of benefit to the club, too, but that isn't an analysis I'm qualified to make.

Clubs take something of an informed gamble when selling ST at a discount - ie - they reckon enough people will opt to sign up to offset the potential loss that might occur as a result of the discount. This is basic enough economics, and something similar would apply with any new ticketing system, but the club would have to make the call. Sometimes, it is worth taking a small hit in order to keep people on side. Again, it's not my place to make any call on that, and it is obviously something that Brian Caldwell and the BoD would consider in making any decision as to whether to implement the proposal in some shape or form.

    That's a fair point.

  8. Why stand specific? One of the main reasons for looking at this is to offer flexibility.

Oaksoft refers to this proposal not solving any 'problem'. This isn't the point. The proposal is to offer an additional facility. The existing ST system would very much remain in place. Absorbing the cost of a small discount is something for the club to consider. This would be no different from the current situation with STs. If it encouraged more people to attend regularly, then it might be worth it. Bear in mind that 10% on a standard ticket is only 2 quid.

OK let me ask it another way.

What would be the projected cost of implementing this and what sort of return would be expected?

If it's cost free and avoids the problem Pozbaird mentioned about clashing with seat-specific seats then there's clearly not an issue.

If however there's a cost then it needs to be solving a current problem in a way that its success can be monitored against.

  9. Hello All

I'm looking to canvas views in respect of a potential ticketing development that the club is currently considering. This is a longish one, but please bear with me.

I've exchanged correspondence regarding this with the club's General Manager, Brian Caldwell, and Brian is happy for me to use the forums (here and the OS) to gauge whether there is any mileage in this idea.

By way of some brief background, I emailed the club over the New Year period asking if there might be an option of a season ticket that is not seat or stand specific. Just to be clear, I wasn't suggesting that his replace the current system. Instead, it would offer an additional facility that would afford non ST holders the opportunity to purchase a Smart Card with in-built flexibility to roam around the stadium as desired. The idea occured to me when, having given up my ST a few years ago, I enjoyed the freedom to take in matches from different areas of the ground. In any event, my old ST seat is now taken up by my mate's grandson, so I couldn't get the seat back even if I wanted to (fair enough).

Despite not having any real urge to buy another seat-speciifc ST, I miss the convenience of rolling up on match day without having to faff about queuing for a ticket, and ensuring I've got cash at the ready (not least in the grim depth of a Scottish winter!). I also think that the club would benefit from supporters who, like me, find that a current ST doesn't really fit the bill, being in a position, nevertheless, to commit funds up front. In return, those who took up the offer of this type of ticket would have the convenience of a ST, and possibly a couple of other fringe benefits (see below).

Brian was keen to explore options, while being clear that any new system shouldn't be to the detriment of standard ST holder, who could be considered the life-blood of the club. He gets no argument from me, there.

Between us, we've come up with an option that might offer a way forward:

    • on application, non-ST holders would be issued with a smartcard, and they could purchase games online for whatever area of the stadium they wish. The matches would then be loaded onto the card, in much the same way that cup matches are under the current system;
    • games could be added to the card on a match-by-match basis, or a number of games could be pre-loaded. One suggestion to make the option of pre-loading matches more attractive, would be to offer a discount - possibly graded on how many matches are loaded onto the card. For example, buy any three matches, save 5%, or if 5 or more are purchased, save 10%. This way, the club can also benefit from some guaranteed advance income (in a similar manner that it does from standard ST sales). Full season standard STs would still represent best value, however;
    • matches are purchased online, and an email receipt specifies the match details and the stand for which each purchase(s) applies;
    • if and when the club create a supporters bar area in the void of the Main Stand (something that, as you know, is now being seriously considered), all smartcard owners could access this facility;
    • standard ST purchases would always take precedence, and the second tier smartcard would be applicable in respect of other available seats.

The benefits of such a system are pretty clear to me. I could demonstrate my commitment to the club by buying a ST of sorts, and would also enjoy the benefits of not having to queue for a ticket on matchday when the weather is hellish; I might be able to secure a modest discount if I pre-load matches (benefitting the club, in turn); and the club would be offering a more flexible approach to ticket purchase - something that could only be regarded as progress.

I have to say that Brian has welcomed my ramblings on this matter, and is genuinely keen to explore whether this might be a viable proposal. We're keen to hear whether people think this might be an option they'd consider, or any possible shorcomings/issues with the initial concept as outlined above.

Please feel free to offer any suggestions or criticisms as you see fit, but i'd be grateful if the thread remained relatively free of spamming as the club will be looking to access it for information and a sense of how people regard the idea.

    Ta much

    Drew

Hate to be a fly in the ointment but I'm not sure what problem this is solving.

It only affects non-ST holders so those saying it would be great for ST holders cos they could bring and sit with their mates are either misunderstanding or I am.

If it only affects non-ST holders then I don't really understand how the benefits would be enough to overcome the inertia currently being seen.

The idea of discounting for multiple purchases is good though but can this all really be introduced without cost?

Maybe I've missed your point but I don't see this as making any difference at all.

I also don't see it making things easier. It involves faffing around with application forms, cards etc. Just sounds like more hassle than its worth TBH. I prefer solutions which are simple.

    Sorry to be negative.

  10. Actually I think there could be something to this story going by some of the activity I can see on the internet. Could be an interesting buyer. He certainly seems to be talking the kind of language I like.

    What??

He also wants to starve poor and disabled people to death and force children under 12 up chimneys?

  11. Is it any wonder there was a slow information release on the 10000hours proposal where information was dripped out? As I've always said St Mirren fans were always going to be too stupid to handle this. Over at Motherwell on the other hand they are just getting on with it, making progress and putting their team at the top of the league. At Clyde it just works. They've got on with reducing debt and will be debt free despite their Third Division status in the next 18 months. They've got challenges regarding their home venue which NLC have rented out to Cumbernauld Colts but despite that Clyde sit 2nd in Division Three ahead of their richer and more power neighbours - Rangers - and Clyde's board came out of the whole Newco Rangers fiasco over the summer with a huge amount of respect and credibility after the way they handled themselves both in the boardrooms and in the media.

Football club boardrooms and committees are the same the world over. Full of precious and delicate egos and people promoting and looking after their own interests. At least the CIC model makes those serving on these committees accountable to the membership. An individual owning 52% of shares is accountable to no-one.

Talking of stupd, it's interesting how you think St Mirren would be best run by those closest to it (i.e. the fans) rather than run remotely by an uninterested party and yet you think the complete opposite when it comes to Scotland being run by a foreign country's Tory toffs who probably have never visited Scotland other than weekend helicopter trips to House of Bruar and Gleneagles golf course. Strange one that but then we're coming to expect that from our favourite troll.

  12. The only reason I didn`t sign up the CIC bid was simply that we were being ripped off on the price to pay for a loss making business with no concrete assets to sell on.

Now another bidder has put forward the real value lets hope SG and the selling consortium see sense and sell to Mr Atkinson and allow us to do something that will benefit the club and the community long term.

I didn't sign up because the CiC fails my simplicity test.

I have a degree and am about to earn another.

I am far from lacking in brain cells (I'm also sexy but we'll talk about that another day).

Here's the deal though. I cannot penetrate the language and can't follow how it works in detail.

Now this is odd because the idea should have been very simple.

    Business is very simple.

You make, someone buys, you make money.

Harvard MBA twattery is deliberately designed to confuse people and this proposal is full of it.

    On that count, I'm out.

I'd be interested to know how many on here have actually fully understood it in complete detail.

Even Gilmour couldn't get his head around it.

Why has REA made it so complicated?

It reminds me of mobile phone, gas and electricity contracts - full of apparently unnecessary and complicated twattery but which turns out to be crucial to protecting the company by stopping you comparing with another firm.

I'm not pro- or anti- CiC. I just hate it when simple things are made complicated by people.

In my experience, it usually means something is being deliberately hidden.

I can't invest in that but I won't criticise others for doing so.

  13. Ach the wife is off on holiday and doing my head in so I thought I'd retreat to my office and found this an interesting coffee break project. I'll stop now the coffee has gone cold.

I just think it's pretty funny that some people will back any horse without any information on the bid, on the individual or on his background - whilst criticising 10000hours for lack of information despite them knowing everything about Richard Atkinsons background. But I guess Sid was right - it's just the nature of how divisive the whole process has become.

I hope you're not planning to include stuff like this in your 72 hour "working" week that you keep fantasticating about.

  14. OK try this for size.

Dave Wares worked for IBM until 1993. Then left to set up his own company with two others.

John McClelland was a Vice President at IBM until 1995.

Yes the same McClelland who later became a director/chairman of a Glasgow club.

    Co-instance or what.

    http://en.wikipedia....n_F._McClelland

Are you suggesting all IBM employees are Sevco fans?

Seriously I don't get your point.

300,000 people worldwide worked for IBM during those years.

You've picked out two of them and leaped to a conclusion of some kind.

  15. Thommo was on Radio Scotland slabbering over what a great move the newco is for Templeton....how he'll love turning up at Murray Park as it is such a wonderful facility...how he'll playing in front of the wonderful newco support......thumbdown.gif

TBH I've just stopped caring about this.

More or less every player and fan in the country supports one half of Sevco or Celtic.

This is one of the biggest reason why players and teams in this country bottle it playing either of them.

There just aren't enough footballers here professional enough to be embarassed at the dominance they've sat back and allowed those two clubs to achieve over the years.

Those players who ARE professional enough to play well against them are mainly only doing so to get their "dreammoveto theirboyhoodheroes" and then perform shit against every other team.

It's f**king depressing is what it is.

  16. Well over Greens target of 24 hours and with Radio Scotland reporting the license is unlikely to be provided its not looking good for the newco.

On the EBT sanction issue, was it not the case that the SFA stated they would leave it to the SPL, but would be the involved in any appeal if required. If the SPL can no longer put sanctions of the newco does that mean that the SFA will need to get its hands dirty. I'm not really getting the SPL demanding cash in return for dropping the EBT sanctions.

    FFS Sid stop posting shite.

Nobody cares what your interpretation of anything is cos you're as bad as Dickson at misrepresenting stuff.

You must think we're all numpties who hang on your every word.
