  1. Its so sad to see our team in such disarray. We have a manager in Alex Rae who should be given more than 3 league games this season before any judgement about who he plays and who does not play  or the tactics he uses.

Its unlikely we will be seeing Ben Gordon due to a rumor that he and Alex Rae have differences ie Ben Gordon in his own opinion is fit to play, Alex Rae states he is not ready for the first team yet and a hostile situation has taken place with Alex Rae apparently stating Ben Gordon is available to go out on loan. Now I have little knowledge to know if this is true, if it is true then both Alex Rae and Ben Gordon can get past this because in the end its St.Mirren FC and the supporters that lose out.

I would also like to know why the man McKenzie was signed in the first place given that he was injured an injury that is getting better but then of course he has to attain fitness. We seem to be a platform for players to go on to better things as a footballer, Gregg Wylde was constantly criticized on this forum, but hey presto he is let go, goes to Plymouth where he succeeds, so does Graham Carey, arguably Dougie Imrie at Hamilton and Billy Mehmet to mention but a few.

Finally to put it another way, we can only improve.

  2. Although Langfield was in goal, he turned out to be  the best midfielder we have had in the 2 league games, but every time he races off his goal line and so far has got away with dribbling round the opponents and clearing the ball it is bound to lead him to live up to his nickname of "clangers" please do not try it today. I also think he is a much better goalkeeper than Gallacher, Gallacher may improve with time, I certainly hope so but he is far from ready yet.

santaponsasaint is correct in fearing the worst for today's match against Hibs but he should be aware by now that just when you think St.Mirren will get humped they usually do the opposite and win and it is for that reason I think we will win.

Finally Mr Rae could you instruct the players to keep the ball on the ground as much as possible, the heady tennis being played is disastrous for us, when a St.Mirren player is on the ball inevitably he needs support and lets not be 2nd to every ball.

  3. Its beginning to look a lot like last season up until Iain Murray resigned. We cannot go on changing managers and I do not know whether Alex Rae,s the right man. I am certainly not going to judge him on 2 league games, and the league cup games. So far we have had to endure two extremely poor league games, we can only improve and I hope like many a St.Mirren fan that will be sooner rather than later, and whilst the well expressed saying is "The buck stops with the manager", certain St.Mirren players really do want to have a good, long and hard look at themselves. At the moment the Manager and team are letting the fans down.

It was explained to you personally on Tuesday night that the plans for the disabled platform were at the planning department for approval.I wish it was as simple as just building the structure whatever way we wished but that is not the case. Please show a little patience Blair and now that Gordon is on board i,m sure you will see it come to fruition. We require a 2 week window to build the platform so when planning permission is granted it should be all speed ahead.Everything possible is being done and i,m sure you will appreciate that with the change of guard there is a lot going on.

You talk about patience, this project has been on the go for a good number of years therefore I suggest that patience is the one word  that cannot be labelled at SMDSA or myself.. I can confirm it was explained to me about where we were in terms of progress about the raised platform and I have no reason to doubt what was said however as I stated in a previous post, I,ll wait till the raised platform is in place prior to raising my hopes.

Gordon Scott as project manager of the building, now known as the Paisley 20/21 stadium, had the responsibility of making sure disabled facilities were incorporated within it, he did this to an extent, but forgot cover.

All I am saying is that with time I wish SMISA, Gordon Scott along with the other board members the best of luck in all they do in keeping our great club afloat and perhaps in the next few weeks SMDSA will eventually get to see and use the raise platform. Surely the board do not want SMDSA members go through another season open to the elements.

Was it not Gordon Scott that was in charge of the the facilities and the building of the new stadium?

Very true Tam, however with the noise SMDSA and the hard work done by Iain Laurie and John Clark for all disabled St.Mirren Supporters its a situation he will not or will not be allowed to forget again. In the meantime I offer my sincere thanks to Gordon Scott and SMISA for the excellent and hard work they have done in securing a successful bid to purchase St.Mirrren Football Club and hopefully securing its future.

  6. Today Iain Laurie of(Secretary of SMDSA) received this message. It makes sad reading and once again Disabled supporters of St.Mirren are  back to the start. Through we will band together and fight this deplorable decision. To me its more red tape. The raised platform issue would be nice to have, but impractable as it only took 10 wheelchairs. and their is some 32 members of SMDSA, albeit not all are in a wheelchair, therefore on some weeks you would be back to your usual seats and back to the weather elements. Once again it looks like people in wheelchairs will be getting soaked again.. I also find it strange that the vast majority of other clubs have cover of various types.

As promised in my previous email I contacted Ian Brown of Paisley Engineering (designer of and contractor for the platform) on his return from holiday on Monday 11th July to enquire about the progress of the platform.
Ian stated that the original plan for a steel platform had been rejected by Renfrewshire council who demanded a brick and concrete base be included and in addition that the base would have to be designed and certified by a  structural engineer. Ian employed a structural engineer to produce  an amended design and he held a meeting with the building control officer on 24th June to sort out the details. Shortly after this meeting the new design was submitted to Renfrewshire Council where it is at present waiting for approval.
In the meantime Ian is pursuing a quotation for the brick and concrete work and is in the process of finalising the amended costs for the platform. Obviously the work can not proceed until the Renfrew Council approval is received and the revised cost has been submitted to the club board for approval.
The platform is therefore in abeyance meantime and if the takeover proceeds as intended then the construction of the platform will be the responsibility of the new board.Ian Brown has agreed to keep me updated on progress and I will pass on to yourselves anything that I am told.
As I stated in my previous email at the SMISA Question and Answer session on 13th June Gordon Scott and George Adam confirmed that the new board intended to proceed with any plans which the existing board had and that included the wheelchair viewing platform.
I am sorry not to have better news but it would appear that once again we are the victims of circumstances beyond anyone's control.

    Regards

    Iain Laurie

Another exclusive?  Welcome back to the best club in the world John!

I would second that but then again I expect that John Sutton knew that he was already coming back to the best football team in Scotland or the world as you say..

  8. Due to the successful SMISA bid, the raised platform has been delayed (again), as the outgoing board have a lot to tidy up. Please note I am not attaining blame to either SMISA or the outgoing board. The chairman Johnny Clark and the secretary of SMDSA (Iain Laurie) have been working hard on this and are keeping a close eye on matters pertaining to this. Watch this space for further developments, hopefully it will be to annouce that contruction work has started on the raised platform.

  9. Sutton is a reasonable striker for the Scottish Championship, provided he gets a player that can cross a ball to him( Carey) would be ideal, however I doubt it will be him given the wages he will be on at Plymouth Argyle, but I would not be impressed if Lappin was signed, he has lost a lot of his pace since he was last with us.

  10. 1550 sold so far.

Is that figure of 1550 not down on last season? C'mon lads and lassies lets get proactive and purchase these season tickets when and if you can, so Alex Rae has a good player budget and one that lets St.Mirren of having a fighting chance of gaining promotion.

Whilst I am at it surely we can get more than 1000 fans to become members of SMISA and give us fan ownership.

  11. Fantastic work being done. Is there any reason why the shelters need to be portable? What about crowd-funding?

The first thing we have to do is get the funding for the bus shelters, as a group it was decided portable shelters would be beneficial as it would cut down on possible vandalism and if they are portable then we would not have to seek planning permission and lastly the quotes that both Johnny Clark and Iain Laurie sought showed portable shelters to be cheaper. With reference to crowd funding, that is something the Fans Council or SMISA to look at and whilst both have been a great help to SMDSA, SMISA energies at the moment are very firmly based on the bid for the club, and in my opinion, quite rightly so.
