I'm afraid that is it really.
A considerable number of transfer, media and commercial dealings have been very poorly handled by St Mirren FC. It is all the more strange when the re location and the whole Tesco transaction was managed fairly well.
My guess is we have some folk at the club that are lacking a bit of nous and guile in player and media dealings.
Phew , I'm not alone then !

Totally disagree Billy, the club had a responsibilty to issue a statement to the fans in response.
It wasn't a rumour of a player being linked to us which happens all the time, the club rightly do not respond to this sort of thing but when Sky Sports report that a high profile player such as Ian Harte has agreed to sign with the club I think they have no choice but to respond to it.
What about this article then with direct quotes from the manager ?
GUS MacPherson, the St Mirren manager, last night expressed his delight at signing former Leeds United and Republic of Ireland defender Ian Harte.
Harte has joined the Paisley club until the end of the season. The 31-year-old left-back was available for free outside the transfer window after leaving Blackpool earlier this month. He has played 64 times for the Republic of Ireland but has not been capped for two years.
"I think getting Ian Harte in here to St Mirren is a really good move for us," said MacPherson. "It was no secret that towards the end of the transfer window we were looking to bring in a left-sided defender. I had recently seen Ian playing for Blackpool, so when we got a phone call to say he was available, we knew that he fitted into just exactly what we were looking for.
"Ian is a defender of great experience and is still only 31 years of age and that is backed up when you look at his career stats and pedigree – he is a very good signing for the club."
"a very good signing for the club" , I would say that that sounds like the club thought he was our player , no?

I really don't see the problem with the club saying what they did several hours after it was on Sky Sports.
Fuxake, the player had agreed to sign and made arrangements to start training today.
The guy is a low life, better off finding out what type of character he is now.
There have been several examples in the past eg Wyness , who we all knew was signing but it wasn't officially announced until the loose ends were tied up. If the club had announced that we were in talks with the player , then that would have been a different matter , but to state that he was signing was totally wrong !

No, we had not signed anyone and they didn't claim they had.
The club isn't at fault here, the prick that went back on his word is the one who should be getting the abuse.
Totally disagree David , you don't announce a signing on your OS if there is the slightest chance of it falling through !

if we keep on acting like a 2 bob outfit in the press then that's how we're going to get viewed. another shocker for gus and all associated with this.
We're very good at getting the good media attention , like the last game at LS and the new stadium etc , but we are a laughing stock when it comes to dealing in the transfer market , and as long as the bad press continues over instances like this , possible acquisitions are always going to have second thoughts about joining us !
Let's hope the culprits who fuc'ked up have the gumption to hold their hands up over this , as they were only too glad to take the plaudits over the new ground !

Bit disappointed to be honest but we dont want a player who 'doesn't think its the right move for him'(for that quote read 'Ive got a better deal somewhere else!!!') Bottom line is we have been SHAFTED but lets forget it move on and roar the team on to victory tomorrow!!!!
I'm actually hoping it's off now so we can keep our heads down for a week and let the embarrassment blow over !

We do have to take some of the blame here , we certainly shouldn't have been claiming that it was a done deal , and as you say Herbie , after the shambles of the last week in our efforts to get any left-back in , we are going to take a pounding from the usual suspects !

Jackson is indeed a w*nker and Harte was a bit misguided in his comments, but he's playing for us just now and that's all that really matters. Let's hope no more comments like that are made again by him and he can prove himself to us.
Not all his comments were misguided , here's another -

I would also take the story with a pich of salt. The creative writing of some of these idiots very seldom bears no resemblance to what was actually discussed in their interviews. Especially where this fud Jackson is concerned.
That, also, is probably correct , Jackson would be feeding him the lines to obtain the non-story !

I think it's fairly obvious that that is his reason for coming. IMO, if we can get the best out of him until the end of the season, then fair do's. After that, he signs for the JJs and we abuse him like we would any other.
We may well be on the up, but we're not suddenly going to be attracting players like him who are looking for a 3 year contract.
As for Jackson, he's just a c**t.
Correct , if he has as big an impact for us as Flood had for Dundee U then I'll be happy. If Harte truly thinks that he's good enough to get a contract at Parkhead , then we're going to get some big performances from him between now and May !

The shooting was the beginning of the end for the place , takings understandably have plummetted since then , think it's been closed for a week or two. Some of the regulars now drinking in Corkers , and the staff have all been employed in Sean's other place , Jades in Erskine !
