  1. The

Heres a scenario Hambud. Lets say Islay saint DIDNT go to the original game but goes to this one ,total cost £5.00

A qots (ST holder)fan goes to both games  £26.

i go to both games......... £31   , wheres the loyalty ? where my incentive to attend ?

But you will have seen twice as much football as him.

    Silly and petty argument.

As for your objection now being aimed at a handful of QoS fans. ..

If that was the ONLY way done fellow Buds could save a few quid in the run up to Christmas, it seems again petty to grudge them it.

I say that as someone who was at the first game and as a ST holder who can't make the replay.

The more Saints fans ee can get to the game the better imo.

  2. I think people have explained what their issues are. There is only so often the same thing can be said.

Whether you think it is a warranted grievance or otherwise isn't really the key issue. The club have alienated a number of loyal, committed supporters it would appear, and this cannot be a good thing.

Sometimes it is necessary to accept the perceptions of others as having a bearing on a situation, regardless of any counter position you might have.

Glad you're finally seeing things my way Drew! Knew you'd see sense eventually!

    ;):P

  3. cup tie pricing is about negotiating with the opposition to get the best deal for all possible.

Maybe... just maybe... Q0S were not prepared to go below £15... ... but in an attempt to save even a few fans a few coppers in a very busy period, this was suggested as an add on.

Obviously it has caused upset to some.

But I ask again... had it been £15 across the board... would folks have accepted that?

If so... why do you grudge a fellow fan a Brucie bonus Christmas fiver?

I couldn't make the first Ross County Game... I was admitted to the replay for free when others had to pay a tenner.

To even it up... I bought a tenner's worth of raffle tickets to help Saints youth development.

I buy my Season Ticket essentially because cash up front is said by the club to help them most.

I'd be cheaper paying at the gate as I miss matches due to work rotas or last minute TV re-scheduling.

If the club has managed to negotiate a deal that saves me a fiver then I would say Thank You.

When the club gives discounts to non Season Ticket holders as an incentive I say "well done".

In the grand scheme of things... I truly cannot see why this is been seen as such a divisive issue.

  4. OK i understand that our ST holders have put money up front for the club but why should  QOTS fans get the discount ahead of Non ST holders like myself & many others ?

Maybe thats the only was QoS would agree to the deal and I reckon more of our fans will benefit than theirs.

The whole "ah'm no gettin whit they're gettin" mentality crops up season after season... the club just cant win... even when trying to do what it can for supporters.

As someone else said... the cut price double deal benefits only non season ticket holders.

Could it be that our club saw this as a way of evening things up and giving a wee bonus to ST holders. .. but the only way that could happen was to give a handful of Doonhamers the same deal?

If so... is that really unreasonable?

  5. I ain't paying 50% more than a ST holder for this game.

That'll be 15 quid less for the two clubs.

Also, is it not a kick in the teeth for the QotS supporters, or am I missing something?

An own-goal by SMFC in my view.

Should have been a tenner for all adult tickets.

would have been ideal at a tenner across the board but I cannot quibble at what both clubs have come up with.

As a ST holder, I never get upset when other tickets are discounted at the end of the season to try and encourage a crowd.

A number of ST holders did complain... and maybe this just shows that the club now listens to fans?

Not that long ago we were charging wheelchair users AND their carers silly money... fans complained... that was addressed.

Rather than look at what the are charging for a season ticket holder, why not just ask yourself if £15 is acceptable for a game of football and base your decision on that?

  6. I think that I might be correct in saying that Billy donated his Jersey for the late Sunny Foxbar Saint, when he sadly passed away. I might be wrong and maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but that gesture is typical of the man. He was a great servant and a top bloke who will always be remembered with great fondness.

The goal at Motherwell and the winner against Dundee to get the title are outstanding memories.

Billy Mehmet was a great prospect who became a great servant to the club... more so when the boo boys laid off him.

A great personality who could have really achieved more with better players around him and a more offensive minded manager.

I loved the big guy... but I still cringe whrn I recall our "support" verbally abusing him in Stranraer.

  7. ....and hadn't a clue where the net was!

There are a lot more and better options out there than Billy Mehmet!

That'll be the same Bily Mehmet who scored some of the most important goals in our club's recent history?

    LegendPosted Image

Yep... and in true Saints fashion the same Billy Mehmet who played at Stranraer whilst recovering from illness and was subjected to a barrack of abuse.

  8. Goodness me.

I remember being the third person in my street to get a television and one of the first to get a coloured television.

I have no memory of my television morphing into a magical machine with a remote control that did not connect to the television by means of a wire.  I also recall my first video recorder was a top loading beta - max.  I still have my gramophone, it sits under the window in the sitting room.

I used to be quite clued up with technology but now I am being somewhat left behind.  Does everyone understand this stuff or am I in some sort of techno wizard thread that is making me feel quite useless?

I also remember my first electric kettle!

And I remember seeing reversing beepers for lorries showcased on Tomorrow's World! !!!! Them and cd's.

  9. What books are there out there by people connected with St Mirren? Any relevant information would be appreciated, like how much they mention Saints etc, looking to get my dad something for Christmas (secretly wanting it for myself as well). Got Abers a couple years ago which was brilliant and obviously Alex Ferguson's just come out recently but not sure bout it.

I really enjoyed Frank MacDougalls... very good read. Plenty Saints stuff in it too.

  10. Danny should have had the stones too hook Reilly. He replaced McGowan but looked and played like a wee boy.

McGowan gives us an outlet where if he gets the ball, 90% of the time it sticks and we can move up the park. Reilly didn't offer that. Which is what forced us back, and ruined our shape. Harkins, for all his flaws would've given us that.

A queens fan at the station this evening, was saying he couldn't believe Harkins never played because he felt Harkins caused all sorts of problems for them in the league cup defeat.

I suppose the fear could be, what would subbing Reilly do to his confidence?

We ended up playing the type of game Queens wanted to, and didn't impose our "identity" on the game nearly enough. After a number of hard, heavy challenges on the youngsters we seemed to resort to the aimless long balls to an isolated Hawk.

Expect us to be much improved for the replay.

    exactly as I saw it.
