  1. Goodwin is shite, surely our priority is to replace him with a younger cheaper version, the guy is hopeless.

    don't agree with that either!

when concentrating and focused, he does a vital job for the team and helps the younger players play.

Problem today was that without Gowser, we lost our shape and drive. He then played far too deep as our midfield was being over-run.

The manager failed to address that, so Goodwin was then caught between lying far too deep to help the defence and pushing forward to get within binocular view of Thomson.

That then resulted in the long hopeless punt a la Millen on a bad day... when Goodwin himself was having a bad day by that time.

Could have been rectified with the right changes.

  2. I hope we Mclean plays in the replay. coz he certainly didnt play today !

Mind you neither did Goodwin (WTF was his distribution all about?) & Reilly I`m afraid simply is not up to standard

Danny , Reilly for Gowser while harkins keeps the bench warm...... really ?!?!.

McLean was absolutely immense and threatening to boss the whole game... right up until a silly substitution cost us three midfielders for the price of one!

Reilly for McGowan not only cost us Gowser... but the other two Mc's as well as the whole shape of the team changed and we missed the intelligence of McGowan that creates space and confidence for the others.

I totally agree that why it wasn't a straight swap for Harkins I will never fathom out. It was the logical move... it was the very reason Harkins was signed in the first place.

McLean was a victim of our managers decision making... unfair to criticise the lad.

  3. Alex Salmond is Scotland's Political Messi, he is running rings round everyone.

It wasn't long ago that Labour dominated the Scottish Parliament. They have taken the Scottish people for granted and paid dearly for it. The SNP won by a landslide to have an overall majority , something that the Labour Party tried to make impossible when they set up the parliament.

What was Labours answer? Make Douglas Alexander, Gordon Brown, Alistair Darling etc the leader of the Scottish Labour Party to fight Salmond? No not a bit of it, they thought that putting up Johann Lamont against one of the smartest ever politicians Scotland has produced would do the trick.

Labour are paying dearly for continually putting their best politicians in Westminster while the SNP have theirs in Scotland fighting for what they believe is best for the people of Scotland.

I don't think that the SNP will pull it off, however already they are running this closer than most people thought was possible.

I actually like Johann Lamont as much as I dislike Herr Salmond... but my problem is that there is not one other Labour politician... local or national... that I would allow to sniff my fart far less trust!

Corruption is a word created to describe labour politicians IMO.

At a local level, SNP have incredibly hard working councillors and MSP's... so much so that I genuinely admire the work they do... ...

Salmond has surrounded himself with able politicians and has committed workers at the grass roots level... I am increasingly finding it harder to remain opposed to their petty separatist agenda!!!

  4. Its SMISA Q&A night Thurs 5th Dec 7pm start

Thurs as in THURSDAY... ... as in the day that EVERY SINGLE Q&A has been on despite repeated pleas to vary the night even once in a blue moon so that folks with a regular commitment on a THURSDAY can attend... ... but no... THURSDAY it is and apparently THURSDAY it shall remain!!!

  5. Oh, I do like a good goalie smile.png

    yep... he's def a keeper!!!!! thumbup2.gif

As other fellow auld farts have said... the best Goalie since Dibble Money.

Every time he came for a ball I wasn't dreading the outcome; hoping he might get it; or fearing the worst... I was confident to let him do his job.

If fans are like that... it must be great for a defence to have increased confidence too.

That said... young Dilo looks an exceptional keeper too... mature beyond his years.

I hope we can get them BOTH tied up on longer deals.

  6. shows how much things have changed in the last six weeks that we look on this point as two dropped.

We were under pressure for large parts of the second half but held on against a Hibs side eager to impress the new boss.

Fantastic performances from Naismith , Kelly & McGinn (mainly first half). Steady defence for the most part & where does McGowan get his energy ?

I though Vanzy did well in the Goodwin role but lacks that commanding presence, Newton is a smashin player but i still dont think hes giving us quite enough & Caprice for Vanzy ??   Explanations please ?!?

Caprice for Vanzy probably saved us a point.

Vanzy had done well... esp first half... but he was getting deeper and deeper in the second half.

Newton slotting in there but a bit further forward made total sense.

  7. Who would replace Newton on the right?

    DVZ or Caprice.

Mair slotting in for McGregor may well be a straight cb for cb switch... but I am convinced that the two main factors in our turn of form and fortune were the return of McGregor to defence and the move of Goodwin to midfield to protect the defence and youngsters in the midfield.

I actually wouldn't mind trying McGregor in that role and am convinced he is more than capable of doing it well... ... I fully understand why you suggest it...

but I worry about a Mair and McAusland combo at the back without Goodwin in front... I just see that as a massive risk... moreso than a change to the right mid.

  8. I don’t think it’s a good idea to disrupt the team by shifting Newton or McGinn. Newton has developed a really good link up with Naismith with Naismith often pushing up and Newton dropping into right back. Likewise McGinn and Kelly. I would put McGregor into the Goodwin role and slot Mair in at CB to minimise disruption.

That's exactly the same amount of disruption but on defence rather than midfield.

It also returns is to a McAusland and Mair defence without Goodwin in front.
