I mainly wanted to say why I left. The Stubbs sacking was quite a small part of the reason why I did decide to leave. It was mainly due to family reasons and me moving on to a job in South America
More like moving back to Moscow my friendski ! This has got Putins finger prints all over it. US election, Brexit and now trying to destabilise the Mighty StMirren

Definitely one of the most embarrassing episodes in the clubs history.
Taking Stubbs out the equation here. Cause I and many others didn’t think he was the right man for the job at the time, but that’s beside the point.
What’s happened here is the club has went through a lengthy and apparently thorough recruitment process in the summer. Four managers made final interview and then one was picked.
We then get through the league cup group stage for the first time ever and beat Dundee in our first game. We then have expected losses at Ibrox and Pittodrie.
Essentially he’s been sacked because one game, the home loss to Livingston. There can be no other reason. If he wins that we’d be in the top six and he couldn’t be sacked.
What message does that send out? If the next manager loses 3 of his first 4 games (as is pretty likely looking at the fixtures) will he be sacked too?
I think who comes out of this whole sorry episode looking the worst isn’t Stubbs. It’s Scott, Fitzpatrick and the rest of the board.
If they’re going to give a manager (any manager) a 3 year deal in June you can’t be sacking him less than 3 months later.
Both Fitzpatrick and Scott should seriously be considering their positions this evening. By sacking Stubbs they’ve done nothing else but admit their complete incompetence when it comes to running a football club and recruiting managers. How can we as a club trust them to appoint the next one?
Sack the board.I am not sure if you have been to these games? I think if you had then it would be apparent that it wasn’t just the result but the performance that was the problem. The team he assembled weren’t competing at this level, the new manager will have to instill some confidence in these players. I imagine there were caveats in his contract which allowed termination at certain junctures if certain performance targets weren’t being met.

Although AS and his signings have not hit the ground running (as would be expected from a team who had been promoted) unfortunately I think the problems go deeper than the current manager.
1. Why can’t we attract top class players anymore? Danny Lennon could attract Thompson, teale, Goncalves, Dummet, I will also include McGowan, mair and Samson in this as they were experienced premiership players. Hamilton played st Johnstone in front of 1700 fans with 3 stands and a plastic pitch, we have a purpose built training ground , modern stadium and our best season ticket sales in decades, why are we now building a team with short term development players? I feel sorry them as it’s damaging their confidence, I far as I know, AS picked them via end of season trials, not sure if you get an accurate reflection of a player in these events. There also seems to be rumours abound about Darren Jackson using his experience as an agent to help with recruitment.
2. Why was it so difficult to recruit a manager? Let’s look at the situation, won the league with ease (ask Rangers,Hibs,Dundee Utd fans how difficult a task that is) solvent club, good facilities, decent fan base. It was embarrassing listening too the excuses UNEMPLOYED managers were giving NOT to take the job, even Goodwin (legend) would rather stay at a lower league team. As for Gutti, Kluvert, names thrown in to create ST sales , can probably add in Juventus players on loan into that marketing ploy. AS was apparently picked because of his experience in the Scottish game. The chairman and Fitzy have loads of experience of the Scottish game, they or a good assistant could have supported a manager from outside Scotland.
I have been supporting the Buds for decades, through worst situations than this (we are in the top league) it’s the lost potential that hurts at the moment, we could have added 5 quality experienced players to the squad from last year and would have been hard to beat. What’s the next step, not sure, but I will still be turning up to support the team.

Really makes you wonder if the board have gave up on the manager interesting couple of weeks me thinks.
Alarm bells were starting to ring when Jim Goodwin ruled himself out, followed by almost every unemployed manger they spoke with.
The box office Juventus target felt like a marketing ploy for season tickets sales. Lots of short term deals and loans of hard to sell players,
is Darren Jackson still acting as an agent?

Stop creating new threads - it just gets the same old arguments started all over again - there’s plenty of other places to make your point.
It’s hard to stop creating new threads when you live near Silk street, Cotton street and Mill street, though I can understand why it might needle some people

Just back from a great day out in Aberdeen, well until the football started. Had my breakfast (beef, chilli and dark chocolate links from Ramsey’s of Carluke) got the Chivas travel club bus ( great bunch of guys and girls) stopped off for 2 hours in Stonehaven, lovely beer in the Marine hotel ( 6 degrees north) ....I digress
Main points :
stmirren were under the cosh from the start, could have been 3 nil down within 10 mins.
looked well of Aberdeen pace.
3rd goal was goalie error
4th goal pen was Coulson tackle (soft)
QPR CB replaced after 5 mins of second half (not injured)
2nd half we were slightly less fragile looking than the first half.
Questions raised from today’s game:
Do we have too many loanees who have nothing really to prove?
Are Rangers and Aberdeen away the games we should base our forcast on our form for the season ahead or should it be the games against Livi, Hamilton, Motherwell etc ?
I am away to bed, got 10k to run tomorrow morning

Will go for a reverse of the 1955 game, 2-1 saints , no Mallan to score an OG

Croatian centre back Ricardo Bagadur currently training with us, could sign this week. Thoughts....

We have a genuine problem if wevcant score against ten men for more than 45 mins..! Forget defensive issues, an opportunity to take something ut of the game was missed because we failed to put the ball in the net. Goals win games, not just tackles!
Some perspective: Rangers transfer spend £10 million , StMirren £75 thousand. Onward and upward

speculation or imagination, could be either .......... I remember attending a Christmas part at the Rootes works; it was an annual thing I think for the children of the workers and goodness knows how I cane to be there as my Father never worked there; and yet! i suppose it is just one of those memories that stay with one.
I can confirm without doubt, that Christmas is an annual thing :)

Hopefully the hoodoo of 2016 will end today, we are playing better than the start of the season. I think we will start picking up wins in January and February. Happy new year to all the buddies

There must be a reason why He is attending all home games in recent times.
Maybe he has developed an appetite for sadomasochism.

It was nice of Angelina Joliet to back me up in my argument on here whilst making her speech to the UN. Anyone would have thought she'd lifted it from my posts
Oh please, talk about delusions of grandeur !

Mr Angus McPherson , experience of getting an average team promoted to the top league, tick and of keeping them there, tick

Always thought he was pretty decent, couldn't understand why he was freed?

Going by the latest polls you could shave a monkey dress it in a suit and give it a lion rampant flag to wave and it will thrash any labour candidate ;)

Apparently we are locked in a battle with Hamilton to sign Shiels
2nd place always hurts

Spot on. If football management was a beer..... no too far. He kept us in the top league for several years by making us hard to beat, we got lots of 0-0 s and won by the odd goal. I would take that this season. Yes the majority of the games were dull, but I remember a few classics also when we were fighting relegation (3-2 away to Motherwell) plus the 2 most memorable saints games in decades (Rangers cup final defeat, beating Celtic 4-0) it could be said he was actually more successful than JR?
