  1. It's hard to disagree with any of this.

The trouble is that those wanting Danny out are so consumed by what they personally want that they genuinely don't care about anyone or anything else anymore.

They are doing what they can to have their personal voice heard regardless of the undoubted damage it's doing to our players confidence.

A week of work by Danny can be undone in a few seconds if any player is stupid enough to come in here for a quick read.

I'm out of ideas of how to stop the stupidity.

It would be easier to switch off the internet.

A couple of points, 'those wanting Danny out are so consumed by what they want' most fans want the team to give 100% and win at least one in five games. Fans wanted Gus out because he couldn't achieve this either, fans are fickle, it's the nature of being a supporter.

The second point, we don't live in china, the Internet is a fairly democratic tool, you might not agree with others views but their as valid as yours.

Finally, I would be very surprised and disappointed if Danny's influence on the team could be ruined by what is in effect the modern day version of the pub discussion around your football team. I,m really only interested in the bigger picture, survival in the league, I don't care who is the manager, going by current and last season league form, something needs to change and quickly.

  2. If the Boo Boys and Knickerwetters want Danny out, why are they contributing to a thread to " THANK " him ? :1eye

    WHAT FOR ?

    Leave Danny alone trollers !

I,m neither a troll or a knickerwetters. I think it is becoming increasily difficult to defend Danny's position as each week passes. No one wants to see a repeat of the Fitzpatrick sacking, I think Danny deserves better from the club and fans. However action of some sort needs to take place now, whether that's Danny being replaced or someone coming in as director of football to give him some support, I don't know. However if you think it's only boo boys and trolls who have some agenda against Danny , then I,m afraid you are in that big river that runs through Egypt.

  3. Well we are going through an extremely rough time of it at the moment and with everyone pointing fingers mostly at the manager I feel we need to come together as supporters starting on Saturday. We have enjoyed the good times winning the league cup now it is time on Saturday to get right behind the team and show everyone we are together in bad times.

No matter what our personal feelings are about the manager, players and BoDs one thing we all care about is the club doing well and we can play our part on Saturday with being vocal with our support from the 1st minute until the last. Even if we go behind let us try and raise the roof with positive support. If we do that consistantly at all our home games nobody can say we never played our part in trying to turn around the fortunes of this club on the park and therefore if the form continues others will fall on their sword.

So calling out to all buddies get down to the stadium on Saturday and get right behind our team.

I like the sentiment, however it won't happen, and here is why, even when saints are doing particularly well eg beating Aberdeen, getting to semi final against Celtic (attendance 5000 saints fans) then winning the final (16000 saints fans) . The very next league game I expected to be sold out! No just the usual (3000) hardcore fans turned up. Of these 3000, I would say judging by tonight's poll, 1700 have made their minds up about Danny and wont join in any further support for him. And their lies the problem, we are a small select bunch of hardcore fans, some are happy clappers and some are knickerwetters, however we all have one common thread, we want stmirren to flourish, so on that note......lets stick together come on come on,lets stick together.

An enhanced check would have highlighted that he was accused of domestic abuse in both his previous marriages. It was a matter of public record, indeed it was how the Sunday Herald managed to expose his abusive history. The SNP responded to the article by expelling Walker from the party for not disclosing the information on allegations during his MSP vetting. Now if either the SNP or the Scottish Parliament did not know about the allegations they were not doing their job properly. An MSP has access to many vulnerable groups through the nature of their work. Walker should never have been allowed to stand for office.

You need to get a job! or if you have one then ' get back to work' . Having now read this thread from the start, I have one point to make.

Isn't renewable energy in place to reduce co2 emissions , rather than reduce energy costs?

  5. In the current edition of Black & White magazine there's an article on money in football. Brian Caldwell is interviewed and talks about how the club "are required to submit yearly accounts and cash projections for the coming year to the SFA's Finance Department".

It goes on to say that football finances can be difficult to predict, and the example he gives is that "...winning a cup can blow the projection completely out of the water, but in a good way!"

So, given that statement, WHY do we seem to be operating with less than last season? WHY, when we were told DL would have a bigger budget to use this season, does he appear to be operating with less than last season? What's changed?

Simple, the board lost confidence with Danny after the cup final when we ended up depending on other teams to relegate Dundee, dispite being 12points clear of them before the split, he then offloaded players still under contract, who could probably have done a job for us again this season eg Carey, imrie . I think the board don't want to spend in case Danny isn't the manager at Xmas . However I hope he proves me wrong, but to be honest I don't think he will.

  6. the target i looked at for our first four games was 6+ points, that was even factoring in the celtic game being shunted. now with one fixture left in august we can muster a max of 4. Still not a time for knickerwetting because look what County just did to us after losing three on the bounce.

That said by the time the hearts game ends on oct 5th i would expect them to pick up nine points as a minimum to move forward. if not then I might be in the market for a BOGOF deal on dry-nites?

It's not really about this seasons start, think about it for a moment, would Danny still be in a job if he didn't win the cup last season? I actually think it was Joncalves that won us the cup! This has been going on for a while now, poor league performances, fighting relagation every season, teams with similar budgets out performing us. It ain't the players, I think last years squad was one of the best I,v seen in 20 years, so it must be the management.

  7. Just leaving the stadium on the bus now. Disgraceful and embarrassing performance today. No fight, no desire. No idea why Lennon didn't play McGinn, McLean was has having a nightmare of a game, Lennon tells McGinn to get stripped to get subbed on and then tells him to sit back down. The whole game Lennon sat with his head down as goal after goal went in our net. Every fan that was there today should get their money back.

    Shocking!

Well done for going up there mate, it's guys like you I feel sorry for, you dont deserve to have to put up with the mediocre excuse for football we are paying through the nose for right now.

  8. Just in the door after a very enjoyable trip! Also think I might have sun stroke as it was bloody roasting sitting in that stand with no roof! Was very pleasant mind you! :)

Game was very slow paced- we had the majority of possession and they rarely attempted to get the ball from us! Defence were pretty solid, a couple of slack passes but they were dealt with! Cornell had very little to do but did it all well!

I think the fact that we had so much possession and time with the ball was a downfall- we could easily have won this by 8, 9 maybe more but our finishing was woeful! When Harkins finally put the ball in the net the cheers were of relief more than anything!

The trialist looked good, would certainly give him another shot! Harkins ran and ran and ran all game- Gowser was much quieter today! McGinn definitely a stand out- played on the left wing and some of his touches were delightful!

Teale and Thommo- I'm hoping they were saving themselves for Tuesday as they have both had better days for sure!

Everyone we spoke to today were delightful! Just unfortunate that the biggest bunch of fannies decided to sit beside us thinking they were hilarious making ridiculous remarks constantly looking for reactions whilst pretending they were 'fishing' and making stupid noises! With so many kids sitting around they were also happy to swear loudly too! Absolute idiots! What a joy they were...

Also heard a lot of English accents in amongst our support - also only recognised a small handful of regulars who attend away games which was disappointing! We did have a cracking amount of fans tho!

Mair and Goodwin were also presented with a stamp I think before the match as they were ex-players! Nice touch and the County fans were very friendly!

Best one was when we were walking back to the car and one guy said "excuse my ignorance but where exactly is St Mirrens??" Bless him...

Easy, straight past queen of the south, head towards Hibernian , take a left at heart of Midlothian and go up Raith high street, when you get to the top, take right and head towards Albion , don't take the sevco bypass as that road is a dead end, keep going for around three miles and you should be there. If anyone else has a quicker way let me know.

  9. i know for a fact u r lying...every name given in is followed up...how do i know? cause i followed them up.....hundreds of names are given in and are followed up...most r bound to not be as good as we have....it is very hard to judge how an 11year old will be at 16...

Having just read your exploits on another thread about ' incestuous three ways, and your pathological hatred of cheesy, I hope to god you have no part in the selection process of pro-youth players for any team.

  10. I agree with this post. It's hard to be convinced when you're bottom of the league but I am really hopeful, in each of the games I've seen there have been passages of play that have been really encouraging although ther have also been dissappointing parts as well. I predict we are going to play better football this season than last, but probably still be in a relegation battle (though hopefully a good few points ahead at the split.

I'd rather build a team over a few seasons than get half a dozen loan signings in and then have to start again next season and to be fair to lennon most, if not all, of the poor football this year has come from our SPL experienced players.

Cheer up guys - our time is coming :D:D:D

But thats what DL has done 2 loans, and 4 short term deals?

  11. The only consistency there has been with StMirren over the last few years is there ability to frustrate there fans. Under Gus i endured dull boring 1-1 draws, while under DL i have been told we willl be playing attacking, exciting football when in reality we play at home against ICT with 1 up front.

There seems to be a real split in the support at the moment between those who wanted change and those who wanted the staus quo. This can and will prove toxic to StMirren as a club, so how do we as supporters respond. We can shout for the head of DL, then what? the bod will replace him with his assistant (how often has that happened) we will still be in the same situation with a new scapegoat. I actually dont dislike DL he reminds me of Tom Hendrie, lots of positive attitude, he has actually been sold a pup by the board (only applicant to be interviewed for the job!!) flung in at the deepend with limited cash and experience. There are 2 ways this can go, we continue to get beat regularly, then DL will either quit or be fired or we get beat every other game and the bod inject some cash for the January window. Since i cant forsee the future i will continue to give my unconditional support to the team.

  12. I totally agree with boneshaker on every point. Gus’s time was up and that’s in the past. The frustrating thing about that era was that individuals, and the team as whole, consistently under achieved. We saw in the cup runs what the team were capable of but this wasn’t reflected in the league. We could compete, at times dominated teams, but couldn’t finish them off and lost late goals. That’s what let us down.

What was needed was a new start with an experienced, well connected manager and build on the structure that was there to take us to the next level i.e. competing mid table instead of in the relegation dog fight.

What we actually have is an inexperienced manager, with poor connections, on a shoestring budget. This team are not competing, we’ve not been unlucky, but extremely poor.

We’ve stolen the points that we’ve accumulated so far, and have been worthy losers in all other games. We may only be 6 games in but anyone still using the term “knicker wetter” is “deluded”, and needs a reality check.

People have taken risks in the past to the own personal detriment to take us to the SPL, for that they have to be thanked. However the legacy they will leave behind is a team no better than the one that played at Stirling that day, in a biscuit tin of a stadium, and why; because its payback time.

In going to watch St. Mirren for 35 years this is the worst team I’ve seen (Yes I include the Fitzpatrick & Coughlin eras). We’ve had poor teams in the past that have been a culmination of poor management decisions, and a poor financial management over a period of years. Where we are now is due to conscious decisions that have been made over a short period to facilitate profit making. The club is being run like a small local business, and unfortunate as it is, that’s not how football works.

Spot on. Watching yesterdays game reminded me of the 2000 spl season, lots of effort, but i knew that we had to get the first goal then hang on. We had a great opportunity to move up and compete at the next level i.e 7,8th place and for whatever reason it wasnt taken. I expect change will be forced come november after some heavy defeats and some demos by the fans, i.e walkouts, banners, etc. We need to hope that by that time we are not too far behind 11th place to catch up. If decisions arent taken then we will return to the safety (in a business sense) of the 1st division, where we can be a nice fluffy community club with a youth programmme that can produce players who move to clubs in the SPL like Hamilton, StJohnstone and Kilmarnock.
