I get that but I'm saying that in the context of defeating racism, it has made no difference at all has it?.

It's a symbolic gesture which makes those who brought it abut feel better about themselves but it serves no greater purpose from what I can see.

From small acorns, and all that... I suppose I am taking a longer term view of the issue, it’s a bit like the Scottish independence issue, do certain events and circumstances move Scotland closer to independence or further away?
Does renaming a building move towards defeating racism or away from defeating racism? I would say towards.

It seems to be what you protest about . Not much better in this country

How many people “fell” out the back off police vans and on “steps” during the 70s & 80s. Funny how all these accidents stoped after cctv and mobile phones were invented!

    I'm suffering brain fog tonight.

You're going to have to explain this one to me. :oops

If you have brain fog, then I must be having a pea souper! I forgot to add text to that last post...

it has made a difference, they have changed the name of the building/tower.

I hope those poor students aren’t too distressed by our history.
Good to see the university is listening to the BLM movement.......... the same BLM movement applauding the attempted assassination of two police officers at the weekend.

I haven’t seen any evidence of this? I know that BLM is a grass roots organisation thats main object is to raise the awareness of racial inequality in the USA. I did see footage of about 5 protesters outside a hospital and some click bait headlines about “ storming the emergency room” and the like. I remember similar headlines after 9/11 about Middle Eastern men on roof tops cheering when the planes hit, funnily enough that turned out to be alt right propaganda.

I’ve just finished self isolating after testing positive. Was ill for about 10 days, just felt like a really bad flu. Took the test on the off chance due to how long it was lasting. I suspect I got it via the weans most likely as there were positive cases at their school, and had hardly been out the two weeks prior to symptoms.

I was really disappointed with T&T, I got my results back on the Wednesday and it took until the Saturday for them to contact me for close contacts. They didn’t contact close contacts for another 2-3 days after, of which one of them finished their self isolation period on the same day!

Hope your feeling better now. One of my colleagues caught it way back in March from her husband (works in NHS) he had a slight temperature for a day, she had all the symptoms and was floored for 10 days. She returned to work last week. Said she couldn’t believe how fatigued it made her feel, she could only walk to the end of the street before having to come home and lay down. That went on for about 8 weeks but now back to normal. Appears to effect people differently.

Friend of mine runs his son’s football team (primary school age). He actually was a decent junior player himself and captained Scotland at under 16 level and was at Leeds in the days of Smith, Batty, Speed, Kewell et al (in the reserves that is)

    Anyway, to the story.

First game tomorrow. The parents aren’t allowed to attend the game. Not even allowed to stand socially distanced away from each other in the open air.

So instead, they’re meeting in a restaurant for breakfast.....

I fear this lunacy is here for the long haul

I agree it is lunacy to meet up for breakfast

As Sweden’s overall mortality this year is no different from previous years, their strategy obviously hasn’t cost any lives.

As for your second point, there have been 4,893 excess deaths in Scotland this year.

There have also been 3,225 non Covid excess deaths this year in care homes and homes. That’s 2/3s of the excess deaths. This is a fact. Source NRS.

Extrapolate that to the U.K. as a whole and you are talking 40,000 excess deaths caused by lockdown.

What is baseless is the notion that lockdown saved anyone

Do you know what you get swimming against the tide? Sore arms.

  8. Watched “Sand” on Amazon prime last night. Spring break America youths get stuck on a beach that eats you! Cornball horror that I would have switched off after 20 minutes if it wasn’t for the bikini clad lovelies 4/10

Boris makes it ILLEGAL for anyone in England to gather in groups of more than 6 indoors or outdoors. That's more draconian than any SG restriction so far since the full lockdown. As for his "moonshot" programme to allow fans to have to take a new instant test to prove negativity ahead of every event you want to attend that's more moon howling than moon shot. He's managing to out Trump the Donald. Totally lost it.

    It’s oven ready!
