I can see why you would want Gus back, personally I would prefer Danny and I'm sure Tedious Tom wants Hendrie, Hendrie Indeed, but I think it's best to let the past stay in the past. The next manager should be motivational, increase fitness and stamina, and encourage a quick passing game, pressing high up the pitch. I don't care if he's Scottish or not or if I've heard of him or not.

Murray, Miller, Conlon, Agnew, & Mcmullan are all free to leave which is a shame because McMullan looked good at first but none of them are good enough for St Mirren. I'd like to see a new manager see what they could get out of Shankland and Gallagher. but unless we get rid of Murray and Miller first we are going nowhere (except maybe Div 1).

It's alright Shull - he hasn't been kidnapped at all.

Sadly Murray still in charge for this one so:
Langfield
Reid Baird Webster Kelly
Mallan Carswell
Doesn't Really Matter
At all
The 3 attacking mids and the forward will be running around trying to catch aimlessly punted high balls which they won't get near all afternoon but one of them will be fouled 25 yards out in the 78th minute
1-0 Saints (Mallan 78)
COYS
KTF (but I've never seen a shooglier peg)

Seriously Mikey? Just because I am asked to keep certain information in confidence you take umbrage because I won't post the reasonsfor this on a public forum? While I have every confidence in the source I would not divulge personal information for obvious reasons. Furthermore, you don't need me to explain why TC was sacked.
I'm merely pointing out that the inclusion of "i know something you don't know but i'm not telling you" detracts from your argument rather than enforcing it. furthermore everybody knows why TC was sacked if you read my post I alluded to his appointment not his sacking.
My main point is this - When the Newcastle fans were calling for Pardew's sacking when they were in the top half of the English premiership I said to my son that they should be careful what they wished for and it's the same for saints fans who said Danny's time was up. Highest league finish since the eighties (twice) and a national trophy how does that sound to you now ?
ETA - not to mention the respect he should to saints fans in interviews even when results weren't going his way. that sound good now ?
-
Are you really that daft? Read my first sentence.
there were issues that nedflanders knows all about but nobody else does so we have to take ned's word that danny had to go. also there were very good reasons why TC had to be appointed but again only nedflanders knew what they were. the rest of us just have to know our place and keep our mouths shut.
-
Wasn't that a video analyst? Unless we had a sport scientist as well but I doubt it.
We had a sports psychologist, but TC said he could motivate the players fine without him so we let him go - he wasn't full time more a consultant.
-
There were other issues but for obvious reasons I am not going to post them on an open forum. No offence taken my friend and sometimes there is more behind certain decisions we never know if hear about. As for Danny, the football we endured was poor at times while he wasted a lot of money on rank signings over several seasons. Who knows whether we would still be in the top league or not but the slide began while Danny was in charge.
"Poor at times" sounds like heaven right now. and though some of his signings were rank we've since had Marwood, Ball, Gow, etc etc. in just a season and a bit. and lastly the slide began under Danny - we slid all the way to eighth but for obvious reasons that I'm not going to post about on an open forum Tommy Craig was definitely the man for the job. Like I said maybe we got what we deserved.

Danny's time had come and gone and we needed new blood. This was done but has, so far, failed. Every appointment is a gamble particularly if you have limited resources. Our gamble has failed. There were other issues around Danny not getting a new contract which I won't go into but he has gone so let's move on.
Why had Danny's time come and gone ? - his last contribution was an eighth place finish
Why did we need New blood ? - see above
I agree that every appointment is a gamble but the odds on every gamble are different and TC, GT, and IM would all have had pretty high odds before their appointment.
Finally, I don't know you, and I don't mean to offend you but If you are trying to insinuate that there was some off field issue that meant he had to leave, then you should back it up or not mention it at all.
-
I'd be right up for that, programme could even have a centre spread of Santa sitting in a rocking chair with the caption "you do know I'm not real, but football is".
There was a man that knew - If you want to be the best in the world at what you do - wear black boots

The BOD have made mistakes and SG has publicly admitted them.
Not renewing DL's contract was a 51% to 49% correct decision IMHO. Not much in the decision but Danny's main flaw was the signing of too many poor players and not breaking through to top 6 when other diddy clubs were doing it.
TC was a disaster of an appointment as SG has admitted.
GT was a decent shout imho and I thought he did a lot of things right but circumstances conspired against him. If the Well game had been a 1-0 defeat instead of the mauling live on TV then GT may have still been with us.
IM has been a very poor appointment and cannot be blameless for his part. Terrible signings; lack of a coherent strategy; poor choice of assistant; freezing out our best player; repeating mistakes and all with a higher budget than most teams in the League. Many fans wanted IM so it is difficult to blame the BOD for a decision many fans would have made.
The BOD have got things wrong but mainly the managers got things wrong as far as the playing side is concerned.
This is the only bit I disagree with - IMHO if we had renewed Danny's contract we would still be a premiership club, Remember the joys of fretting that we weren't good enough to be in Scotland's top 6 teams. 2 eighth place finishes and a national trophy yet we were right to get shot of him - maybe, as fans, we got what we deserved then.

p.s. stop aimlessly punting the ball up the park to a midfield and forwards who like the ball on the ground.

I don't care which St Mirren manager wins on friday, I don't care which St Mirren Manager goes on a long unbeaten run which sees us make the play offs, get promotion, climb the premiership, qualify for europe, win the premiership, qualify for the champions league and, eventually win it. I'd have been happy if it had been any manager from our past (even Hay) and I'll be thrilled when it does happen, the sooner the better, so if that manager is Ian Murray then fanf*ckingtastic.

This will be the turning point of the season

i got confused - easy at my age, hence the edit. sorry. (in the first edit I had Mallan in twice, if only we had two of them)

perhaps it's time for a more radical shake up, like germany's world cup winning ,2,3,2,3 formation. the argument against it was always we didn't have the players to suit it but on Friday we could start with:
Langfield
Webster Kelly
Reid Goodwin Stewart
Agnew Morgan
Mallan Shankland Gallagher
Hopefully it would be bloody difficult to play against as well as optimising our chances of scoring, and it includes Tedious Tom's 3 up top.

Kid Jenson wore a saints shirt in an Ultravox video, I think it was "Hymn"

Whilst i believe that if we had renewed Danny's contract we would still be watching premiership football this season, you can't go back (except re-signing Fitzy, that was a no-brainer). but loose to the Dung and Livi and we will be on the look out for yet another manager.
Bring Danny Lennon Back To Greenhill Road

8th place in the top league, League cup winner, another 8th place in the top league - sounds f*cking brilliant now.
I have said before I don't think we should ever go back (exception that proves the rule - Fitzy as a player), however to say that the notion of bringing him back is absurd is living in denial of how far we've fallen since we mistakenly failed to renew his contract.
