Up until now all I've wanted was for us to avoid the play off spot, but yesterday's result coupled with Ross county's manager giving yet another whiney interview blaming everybody but himself for a defeat has made me greedy - I now want them relegated.

I really admire your confidence, posting this in "other football" and not “ General st mirren“.

Pretty sure the hotel was losing money....?
not according to the BBC, they said it was profit making and subsidised the loss making football club.

I would agree that, roughly speaking we are in teir 2 with the kilmarnocks, falkirks, hamiltons, motherwells, Thistles etc. but as the all-time league shows Third Lanark as a relitively successfull team maybe the here and now is more important. I understand that many are dissappointed to be below ICT or the Fakes but last year Ross County were up there and look at them this year. Killie and ourselves have both recently been low down the top league, League cup winners and failed to push on from there and are still in very similar positions. The biggest differences that I can see are we've tended to stick with our managers while killie repeatedly change theirs and of course, the debt. It's very important to stay in the top flight as Falkirk and Hamilton fans will tell you after years in the lower division but at least ourselves, Ross County and Thistle could survive a relegation, I'm not sure the same could be said for Killie. I've seen us win the second teir of scottish football several times, seen us play top sides in european competitions, win a challenge cup, a scottish cup and a league cup and to be honest thats enough to make me happy that I support Saints and more acheivements wouldn't help if we ended up a Rangers, clydebank or third lanark.

Campbell Gowser McLean
Thommo
Goodwin banned but I'd have dropped him anyway along with Newton and Wilde, to be honest there are a couple more who could do with a couple of games warming the bench but we don't have an embarrassment of riches to bring in. On his game Newton is a fantastic player but he hasn't been on his game for a while, Djemba Djemba isn't up to speed yet and could yet prove to be a dud for us but his passing has been excellent so I've kept him in the team instead of Newton, Teale could be out for weeks along with Goodwin if video evidence is used against him and Magennis and Wilde have yet to show that they could improve the team. Back to a passing game try and get Campbell and Mclean close to Thommo when we are in possession and most importantly move the ball on quickly and have a real go at killie from the whistle.

Craig Levein or Jimmy Calderwood
Levein will wait for the Bidco job and is probably still out of our price range and Calderwood would be a backward step I think
-
Thats Neil Warnock, Owen Coyle, Stevie Clarke and Alex Mcleish all had a mention. Am i on the right website? is it still StMirren we're talking about. I understand folk are dissappointed and even angry but these guys are well well well well out our price range try and be realistic. And for what it's worth I dont think the BOD will sack DL at all and certainly not before the split.

though we had a poor result last week other results went our way (eventually). but this week couldn't have been much worse, killie gain a point on us and county and thistle 3 each.

curse of the ex-saints, Barlow saves a penalty against aberdeen

I highly doubt Magennis will play right back. That was more of an experiment of Craig Brown that wasn't hugely successful. With two right backs plus Newton already in the squad we won't overlook them.
He signed to play up front, or off the front. That is where he will play.
I put him there because I went for speed in Campbell, and wilde but thought Magennis could give us something extra at corners and free kicks.

Well you started to quote 'history' lessons.
As pointed out by others we have spent significantly more time in the top league than we have in the other leagues in Scottish football.
Your sole approach is to ridicule those who don't agree with you or find fault in your argument. So if you are going to quote history as being the basis of your argument, all I pointed out was that there have been lengthy periods when we have been a top flight team. History isn't just created over the last ten or twenty years, which is where you appear to glean your statistics.
It's not his sole approach, he ridiculed me for agreeing with him

I'd wait until the end of the season because I'd see no good reason to risk a change AND pay compensation as well.
Changing a manager mid-season is a weakness brought on by panic.
I'm not prone to panicking.
You apparently are.
So are a few on here.
Please 're-read my post. I didn't suggest changing manager mid-season. Quite the opposite.

Here's a thought experiment for you.
Imagine it was up it you to decide when Danny has to go and he is in the job until you say otherwise.
We then go into a bit of a decline.
How far down would we have to go before you thought "Hmmm, winning the League Cup was great but it's now time for a change."
Same question to all Danny backers.
I'd back him until I could get somebody better. Anyone who thinks Stevie Clarke or Alex McLeish are in our wage bracket are deluding themselves. Lower league success or promote from within. DL had a better record than Murray at this stage and Thommo will play as long as he can, which is probably next season too. We won´t sack Danny but whether we renew his contract will depend on whether the board identify a better replacement, my guess is that they have´nt yet done that.

If everybody is fit and on form:
Kello
Naismith. McGregor. Cheesy. Kelly
Newton. McGinn
Teale. Gowser. Wilde
Thommo
But right now:
Kello
Magennis McGregor. Goodwin. Kelly
Djemba Djemba. McGinn
Campbell. Teale. McLean
Thommo
Obviously DL would need to try it out in training first but I would like to see Teale given Gowser ´s role for a bit as I think he has all the attributes to play there.
-
Think maybe Gowzer will be benched tomorrow .
Kello
Naismith Goody McGregor Kelly
DD McGinn
Teale McLean Wylde
Thompson.
I thought last week that Kelly and Naismith struggled a bit and we don't really have the cover too change rest them.
This, though I'd start with Gowser instead of McLean and Campbell ready for when Teale tires. 1-0 saints Thommo.

If DL sticks with D&G he must play 3 from Wilde,Gowser,Campbell & Teale.
No place for mcginn or maclean?
Neither gives you the attacking options of the four mentioned, if it was up to me though I would start djemba-djemba and McGinn with 3 of the others.
-
For me, the whole point of playing 2 holding mids is to allow 3 attacking mids to support Thommo. So, for example djemba-djemba and Goodwin hold allowing Campbell, Gowser, and Wylde support the attack. Yesterday though Newton, McLean and even Gowser sometimes we're far too deep and left Thommo isolated. If DL sticks with D&G he must play 3 from Wilde,Gowser,Campbell & Teale. We left it far too late to bring on Campbell and Teale yesterday and the formation we started with was just plain wrong. Still onwards and upwards.
