    Dear Danny,

    Of course you don't have to play this formation or these players, it's just my preferred option, I'd still be happy if you played Mair instead of Darren or cheesy and I admit Goodwin adds bite to the midfield but he's having a wee run of poor games.I'd be more than happy to drop Reilly if Teale was fit or you saw something in training that suggests that caprice would be a better option. The only thing I really insist on is that you stop trying to put Harkins and Gowser in the same team. Harkins may still turn out to be a good signing should Gowser be unavailable in January but they can't play together.

    Think we miss Gary Teale and need him back......

    I agree that he offers something different going forward, but who would you drop? I thought the midfield worked their arses off yesterday, McLean and McGinn we're outstanding going forward in the first half and all four buckled down to defensive duties when needed, I just couldn't see us taking any of the four off even if we had a fit Teale on the bench, much as I admire Teale.

    It's bloody ages till the Fakes Match and Scotland aren't playing till next Tuesday.

    So why don't we arrange a kickabout this Saturday at St Mirren Park. ( with Season Tickets valid of course )

    We have found good form so it would be ideal to keep us ticking over till St johnstone come visiting.

    We could play Dunfermline Athletic.

    If we did arrange this game, what formation, tactics, and team selection should we go with?

    Danny Lennon picks the team, as he did on Monday. He decided to play McGowan further forward and got the best game from him all season. He also must have seen something in the Aberdeen team that meant he felt it better to drop Teale and play Newton on the right, if it was to protect DVZ then that worked too because Aberdeen didn't particularly threaten on that side of the pitch, so it will depend what DL sees in Hearts that will decide whether or not Teale returns to the starting line up. As for Harkins returning to the starting line up, I can only assume you're having a laugh or have heavily backed hearts at the bookies.

    Firstly, they were called "sevco"

    Secondly, Sevco didn't go "down" anywhere. They are a brand new club which applied to join the Third Division.

    I'll try and explain simply... and oaksoft will understand this already. Had Rangers not gone bust then I'd say its very likely that they would have finished above St. Mirren last season and I'd also say that its very likely that St. Mirren would therefore have finished bottom of the SPL.

    Just my opinion mind...

    I apologise for the predictive text that changed sevco to servo, and I didn't check, and now you explain it I understand your argument though I don't agree with it, imagining the league would be exactly the same except sevco would be second and Dundee wouldn't have been there, but all other results would be the same is, in my opinion, nonsense.

    I was pleased when we signed Harkins, I thought he won't be as good as Gowser but as good as a replacement as we could afford, and I don't dislike him now, but accommodating in his favoured position is denying us our most creative player in McGowan.

    I really feel sorry for Danny, people give him pelters for not doing transfer dealings earlier when the one bit of business he did do early turned round and bit him in the bum, and what else could he do? Imagine the outcry on here if Gowser went and then it was in the papers that he'd offered to stay but Danny said no.

    I was also pleased when we signed Grainger and Bahookie and I still hope all three signings turn out to be great, but while we are in this mess I think we need to go back to basics and that means Gowser as creative mid and Harkins on the bench. That doesn't mean I've got it in for him.

    Was pleased to see Danny read my post in the "favourite starting IX, and formation" thread and as a result we looked a wee bit better at the back on Saturday however there was one bit of that post that he ignored and I think it was perhaps the most important bit......................DROP HARKINS.

    All being well a narrow 1-0 win for the buds, the revival starts here.

    It's like Isabella duke 's "10th non old firm team therefor DL is a poor manager" but it's equally true that we finished 20 places above an old firm team making DL the best manager in the history of the universe. We all know the stats aren't brilliant but let's try not to twist them to suit our opinions, I'm happy to hear everybody's opinion, nobody has to twist the stats to validate them.

    More than happy to let them chose the starting XI and subs and formation and tactics.

    My job: to encourage the manager and players when the chips are down rather than say everything about the club is shit when it is not.

    Agree, you can tell by the amount of formations and starting elevens on here that you can't run a football team by committee. We can't even agree on the problem, some say Thommo can't play up front on his own, or DL can't accommodate Gowser and Harkins, or we don't have a natural holding mid since Goodwin went to back 4 (which is either his best or worst position depending on who you speak to), or DVZ's too old and of course if you listen to gstretchuk then cheesy should be taken out and shot.

    For the next 2-3 games:

    Cornell

    Goodwin

    Cheesy. McGregor

    Caprice. Grainger

    Newton. McGinn

    Gowser

    Thommo

    Then, after being a bit more solid and harder to beat I'd move to:

    Cornell

    Caprice. Cheesy. McGregor. Grainger

    Goodwin

    Newton. McGinn

    Teale. Gowser

    Thommo

    Again I'd play this for 2-3 games gradually introducing through substitutions my preferred formation for the rest of the season:

    Cornell

    Caprice. Cheesy McGregor. Grainger

    Newton McGinn

    Teale. Gowser. Bahookie

    Thommo.

    Harkins has done ok going forward but brings out the worst in McGowan this way he'd be on the bench hopefully forcing the best out of McGowan. Likewise during the next 4-6 games Big Bahookie would come of the bench for Thommo, just to let him know we've options. It would also be ok to play DVZ at right back in the middle formation and bringing Caprice on if we need to attack more.

    I've supported DL so far but my heart sank yesterday when the team was announced (though I didn't boo), I really think we need to consolidate & stop shipping silly goals first then gradually become more expansive till we're eventually playing sexy football again, sorry that took so long and thank you for your patience.

    I understand that we're all very frustrated just now, but we need to stop abusing our manager. DL will not be sacked today or even on Saturday regardless of the result and I think that's a good thing, however if I could offer some advice it would be make a statement of intent and do not be seen as weak, for example drop Goodwin or change to 3 at the back with caprice and Grainger as wing backs or drop Harkins and push McGowan higher up the park or some other personnel or tactical change that acknowledges that things are not right at the moment. Obviously. He'd need to run any personnel or tactical change by me first to make sure I approve.
