  1. I'm not disputing the Argentinian consortium's right to sniff around any possible target club they choose. For all I know, they could have looked at Livingston, the Sevco Works XI, Dukla Pumpherston and Inverurie Loco Works along with Motherwell. That's their business.

Am I not explaining myself very well? I'm struggling to put it any better - I honestly believe that IF, after five years, after telling us they want to sell to the right people and have their place in St Mirren history cemented and untarnished - the BoD absolutely owe the St Mirren support some sort of answers as to why this consortium ticks the boxes, should a sale be concluded.

The vibe I'm getting is that some folk are arguing no, they don't, they owe us nothing and can just sell without needing to answer any questions we may have. Basically because it's their ba' and we're no' playing with it?

I don't get that. Not after Rangers, Romanov, Mileson, Massone, Dundee, Motherwell....

    Brian.

For the past 5 years the board have tried their damnest to sell to the right people without success. It's quite possible they no longer think there is a perfect candidate and they simply can't wait any longer. To this and they have increased their shareholdings to make it more attractive to any would be suitor and are trying to ensure as much as practical they get reasonable people whose business plan doesn't include destroying the club medium term. This is probably as much as we can hope for after all the trials and tribulations the Board have overseen. They may want what's best for Saint Mirren but at the same time realise they themselves could drag the club down inadvertently by holding out for the perfect people.

  2. Yes your right we have won 1 game, your also right we have played three games, but before that, we haven't played any football.

Well done to our present management team and the young lads.

Can't let that one go. A lot of folk, and I include myself in this, were very pleased with a lot of performances and our complaint was more about results and certain individuals not being up to scratch. Latterly I would agree the fair on show was totally unacceptable though.

I firmly believe that having Longwell involved in the first team is a shrewd move as he knows where the youngsters are in relation to their football development and, more importantly, their mind-set. He has also been working on the side-lines, albeit with the youth squad, so is used to overseeing things from the touchline and tweaking things during a game.

I suppose it depends what you want from this season whether we change things again. I don't believe GT and DL will save our season. There's no guarantee a more experienced appointment would either. I do believe they have a fresh approach and are happy to play the youngsters rather than feeling forced to play them. This in itself must have a positive impact on the kids stepping over the white line.

  3. they waxed lyrical when Rooney hit one, aged 17, for Everton v Arsenal.

Rooney's 35 yard screamer v Stephen Mallan ripping Dundee a new one is a no contest. A Cracking goal

To be fair to Sky. They've shown the goal about five times already that I've seen and they are definitely commenting on it with extreme enthusiasm. So much so the lads stock must have risen already to the six figures.lol.gif

  4. Our season started last week. We put up a great performance with 10 men and got robbed. Today we got our just deserts. Pity we didn't get rid of Tommy months ago but things are returning to normal and the relegation battle is far from over smile.png

Must agree with this. (Apart from the bit about the sahara and the Gobi.... whistling.gif: )

Don't worry sonny. He's not the pedant messiah. He's just a haughty boy!

  5. Any kid that receives a Saints top for their Xmas should have childline on speed dial.

My grandson was delighted to get the away top as one of his presents.

I'll qualify this by saying he has around a dozen different tops from Germany to Liverpool and is mad for saints. He got his Saint Mirren juniors training gear on Monday and had to parade the kit and pose for pics. Move over Thommo. There's a new kid in town.

  6. Life is very precious.
    So indeed are friends.
    So if you've offended anyone,
    It's time to make amends!

    It's easy to be nasty,
    It's harder to be nice.
So if you type insults today,
    A smilie won't suffice

Forget that last wee verse I wrote,
For you know me from way back.
I'm the epitome of the proverbial pot,
    That called the kettle black!

    A merry Christmas to everybody.

May you all have a fantastic Christmas and get what you want ten minutes before you need it.

  7. In the bleak midwinter, blue noses gave some flack,

To spivs who did ignore them, like water off their back

Gers had fallen, Sevco too, they bleated from a tent

That they were in trouble, all their money spent.

When an AGM is held, from the clubs away end,

The Newco’s board are heckled, they cannot buy a friend.

In the bleak midwinter a gazebo had sufficed

They fans all said in unison, Jesus Christ.

Blue noses and the shareholders may have gathered there,

    Sweary words and curses thronged the air;

but everyone outwith there, in their total bliss,

    Know they won’t be missed.

What can we give them, poor as they are?

    If I were a blue nose, bring a begging jar;

if I were a lawyer, I would bring a writ,

Because deep down I know that they are in the SH!T

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE! (WELL....ALMOST EVERYONE)punk.gif

  8. Issue is for "them" to make a profit on selling players any player ownership/agency needs to be structured so that the profit can be extracted to them as owners without having to pay the other shareholders also.

while this can be done it is so entirely different to the way the current custodians have run the business in terms of financial extraction through trading that it is going to be very interesting how they manage to square it all up.

Previous bids that were based around the same sort of principal have previously been rejected

Not the ideal situation I grant you but, IF run properly, the owners would invest in the structiure of the club with a view to contued attraction from potential "gems" while making the club successful enough to parade the talent in the top league of the country.

Nothing certain in this world but we, at the moment, are on a definite downward spiral, so even slight improvement would be a positive step.
