  1. Good start for the new coaching staff down Ibrokes way.

McDowall tells the media that he's only following orders. (Where have we heard that before?)

He's just passing on the word from the board.

Then goes on to say, "There's not a whole load I can change because everything Ally was doing was with my backing."

Hmmm. 12 points soon to become 20 then?

  2. Here are a couple of questions for someone to try and answer....

Why would anyone want to buy a provincial Scottish football club for £2M?

How would you generate a decent return on investment?

Bear in mind it is a declining market. No league sponsor. TV and sponsorship revenues dropping. Season ticket sales dropping.

The only way forward is to try and maximise a return is through selling on players. We don't even have a recent track record of doing that.

For them to make a profit selling on players, those same players need to show their worth on the field of play. Ergo. If they're successful, so are Saints. At least in the short term.

  3. I had to chuckle at one of the key components of their strategy for the future....

    Strengthening commitment to communities

Paying back the money they owe to the local newsagents would be a start, I suppose.

I think that a bit unfair Drew. They don't owe anything to the newsagents.(Unless this lot did it too)

You're thinking of the other mob that are DEID!

  4. Sheffield Uniteds offer was no where near that, it was well less than £100k.

if the club had been offered £400k McGinn would have been off to Sheffield in a flash (assuming he would have wanted to go obviously)

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11781/9321913/uniteds-mcginn-bid-rejected

Ye cannae trust that article. They've even got the wrong man in the picture.

    That's Richard Brittain!

  5. Series 3 of Utopia cancelled! death.gifkenshin2.gif

Re the US remake these are very hit & miss - Being Human is unwatchable whereas I liked Life on Mars despite it being axed early due to poor viewing figures.

Oh and yes I never knew you could do that with a spoon! spudnikhurler.gif

Strange how taste vary. The first series of Being Human USA was, for me, far more entertaining than its British counterpart.

  6. Honestly if it wasn't for bad luck. But was encouraging to see us be more positive and that's without a striker. Maybe its the fact I am on my 3rd coffee but I see us picking up a point, then its Kuillie, 4 pts back to 11 th and looking up. Thought despite the SFA muppets boys did well, good to see Gregg back

For me, it was nothing to do with bad luck. Bad luck is when your striker mistimes a tackle and fouls the opposing player as said player makes a legal challenge for the ball. Bad luck is when you hit the crossbar and miss. Bad luck is when your left wingback IS just offside and scores. Bad luck is when your player gets fouled in the box and the keeper is inspirational at the resulting penalty.

Being cheated is something more akin to what I saw on Saturday.

  7. Jim Goodwin has paid the price by losing his coaching role at the club so I wish people would let him have his last chance and look at how he keeps the defence together like he did yesterday by giving instructions on the park. If St Mirren don't want him then be rest assured another Scottish premiership team will sign him. Glad he wears the St Mirren strip. On that note get rid of our new ugly strip been an unlucky one

Goodwin was fantastic on Saturday. Not only on a personal playing level but also in encouraging the youngsters. More than once I saw him talking to Mallan and McLear in a seemingly positive manner.

  8. "Tealzo" (?) has done no wrong but if we can afford it, we need a fresh perspective. GT has just done as asked but come on please, all but the most blinkered or stupid fans must see that we need a fresh approach. Lennon/Craig/Tealzo, all have elements of coming from the same place. Who is to say someone else will be better but can it really be worse (just basing this on the fact we have 8 points and are bottom of the SPFL)? A new guy comes in and will instill fear in some, confidence in others and perhaps some fresh thinking. If anyone is blinkered enough to say I am outright wrong then, well? And if the bod quibble over £10k compo or anyone thinks that doing so is in some way ok, that is pathetic.

I think we're already doomed for at least the play offs. I hope I'm wrong but I feel Saturday was a watershed. No matter what we deserved it's what we got, or, more to the point, didn't get, is what mattered.

Given that. It was refreshing to see us play high tempo and with guts and determination. Dare I say it? We seemed to have shape and direction.

The young lads that came in were exceptoional, GT was Lennonesque in his appreciation of the support, (though a bit more articulatewhistling.gif ), and the crowd backed the team to the hilt.

Ignoring the result it was the best I've felt at a Saints game in months.

I would like to see a fresh face in the dugout but I'm not sure they will change the outcome this season.

  9. Is Somers really resurrecting this old trick again?

His statement reads: "In these past 12 months, I have been surprised at a number of things. Firstly, the highly negative aspect of most of the media reporting regarding Rangers.

"Secondly, because it is clear to me that a stronger Rangers is good for Scottish football, I have been very disappointed to realise that outside of Ibrox, there sadly still exists a great deal of anti-Rangers feeling, perhaps (although I hope not) even in the football establishment."

Get that drawbridge back up David!!!

I wonder if the seige mentallity will draw in the desperate bluenoses!lol.giflol.giflol.giflol.giflol.gif

  10. Dundee 1-2 St. Mirren

After yesterday game we have to start believing and supporting the team as much as possible.

If we put the same effort and commitment into the Dundee game as we did yesterday then there's no reason why we can't win!

    COYS!!

Obviously depends on the sort of referee we get. That was the difference on Saturday as, as far as play was concerned, we almost murdered Murderwell!

  11. Plenty of empty seats on show today

They aren't the only team with this problem recently

I remember Italian fitba had the tv money and had the best players in the world

The sight of empty spaces in the stands puts people off and that what happened to Italian fitba

The clubs will need to come back to reality soon as it's too expensive and fans are voting with their feet

The only way for the fans to take back their clubs is a choice they won't make. Stop investing in TV games. It's a catch 22 situation.

  12. Looked like studs up on the knee to me.

I may be wrong but, from where I was sitting, it looked like the Murderwell player went in two footed with studs showing. As for the rest.

The officials, for me, did fine. Except for:

    Sending Thommo off.

Missing the No. 15's many other misdemeanours.

Missing the ball crossing the line.

    Missing the penalty.

Missing the foul on McLean before they scored.

Ignoring a multitude of fouls by the Murderwell and letting them waste time.

I'm sure I saw the ref getting on his bus home. It seemed to be draped in some strange maroon and yellow design.

I'm really proud to be a buddie tonight. Not one player took anything off that park today. If there was justice we would have won that game.

Edited to add. The young lad McLeary? looks a real prospect. Get him locked in.

  13. For what it's worth, one of my favourite away days was the Scottish Cup tie ( 2010? ) at Somerset Park, a full house, and it was brilliant standing on the terraces behind the goal, a great atmosphere and although it is definitely ramshackle, it's not the midden that Cappielow is.

I think this was the friendly but it was still a great day at the seaside

  14. "Tealzo" better watch what he's doing. He seems to be getting a bit big for his own shoes. He was in the paper saying he'd spoken to the Argentinian businessmen and outlined his vision for the future. I don't think his current employers would've been too enamoured by this! He should just concentrate on the job in hand which is basically to win tomorrows game and stop talking so much to the press because if we lose tomorrow he's got no chance of becoming the manager anyway!

All Teale is doing is putting his vision forward. Who's to say he won't help bring those loanees in even if he doesn't get the gig?

  15. And St Lucy, we ain't underachieving.

We are exactly where we deserve to be with the shite management we've had and mostly poor players.

It took a while, and a silly quip about my pseudonym to come to this conclusion? Really? I expected more.

The reason we have "mostly poor players" was due to the manager who the current custodians, you regard so highly, put in place.

Ergo, Shdull. It is as likely to be those you admire who put our club on a slippy, non returnable slope to oblivion as any potential "outsider".
