Anyone who purchases the club who is not from a St.Mirren supporting background will be doing it to try and make a return on their investment.
How anyone could squeeze a return out of St.Mirren in the current climate is difficult to imagine.
It's also difficult to imagine how any such buyer will pass the stringent criteria the selling consortium appear to be applying.
The right people to own St.Mirren FC are the St.Mirren Supporters. End of.
There is some potential for modest profits in the short term with maybe better returns in the future. It would need good business acumen for the former and patience in the case of the latter.
Utilising the fan base and facilities while using Saints as a breeding ground for young talent ensuring you have the opportunity to sell them on rather than losing them for nothing is the ONLY way to maximise profits. Whether there are indeed entrepreneurs out there willing to take that chance and whether the asking price would be prohibitive is another matter as it's still fraught with the danger of failure, but it is possible. Long term? Who knows what will happen to Scottish football in the course of time? It may have a resurgence. It's happened before.

Most do their peeing on here after the match.
Shull. We get it.
Your happy for Saints to underachieve weekly and maybe become a part time side just as long as it's Saints fans that send them there.
Well at least that's how it comes across.

you know when someone's point is pish when they start using capital letters
Aye. Yer right.
I AGREE WITH SHULL!

Scottish football has NOTHING to offer outsiders other than as feeder club or tax dodge.
Our stadium is in the middle of one of the most infamous areas in the West of Scotland, therefore, relatively speaking, of little value.
Our training ground. as far as I know, is not ours.
Our playing staff, collectively and individually, are of little value. (Even including our top 100 prospect who can start leaving come January).
I just can't see any Johnny Foreigner acting like the knight in armour riding over the ridge on his white stallion, saving the day.
We probably have enough going for us to attract a manager better than we can afford but I think the fact that the title of this thread reads "Secret buyers" says it all.
-
I can see why as well, they're cheap! Give us an experienced top flight manager for once!
Either way there is no gaurantee of success. We need to hope the board have learnt their lessons after the burnt fingers and due diligence, as much as can be in the limited time period, is applied and we get the man for the moment.

Enjoying the crack on this so far small thread. Even Oaky was a bit humorous. Allegedly. But talking about golf, how on earth did Lewis Hamilton get the BBC Sports Personality award and not Rory McIlroy. I love F1 and Lewis has done brilliantly backed by the mega millions Mercedes throws at the sport. Rory wins two majors in one year and is golf's No.1. It just doesn't seem right but possibly it just indicates that the BEEB's event has had its day.
I'll probably get accused of bias because Rory is from just up the road from me but I just can't figure it. Apologies if this is on another thread but I haven't seen anything. The reports of golf's death are a bit premature as somebody somewhere must have said sometime.
Either of them winning is a nonsense.Seems to me that putting golf or F1, in the same sentence as sport is an oxymoron.
F1 is all about the money. Golf is, as is darts and snooker for that matter, an art at best. Next thing we'll have is beerswirling. As was said about that seventies game, "It's all in the wrist action!"
BEEHAVE!

Re. The converting of the main stand space.
No matter how many people are able to use the facility. (And, for me, 200 would be a fair amount of folk).
As long as it makes cash for the purse, it's a worthwhile venture. How many pubs local, and they are getting fewer, are able to accomodate that number of Saints fans with no restrictions on club emblems and can cater for kids?
As long as it's managed properly it could be a great addition to the clubs income. Another way of supporters supporting Saints.

I think that must come under the "well I never" news segment!

and super salary stays as manager
Santa is being far too good to us now!

They seem tae think they can get Billy Davies. .
I hope they don't. .
If they do, I hope Davies asks for his money upfront. Otherwise he might look like one of their supporters. A silly Billy!

I know some folk are getting annoyed that this is the most posted thread in modern history but,
It is the club that just keeps on giving!
So THE Rangers have been told by the SPFL they will have to pay the EBT debts of the liquidated club as they are liable for the old clubs debts in relation to an agreement to allow them to join the league.
Three things here.
There now appears to be an official recognisation that they are indeed two seperate entities. (Big news there then? )
Will the new club now appeal on the basis that they have NOTHING to do with the old club? (Watch this space as I can't see any other defence ) AND
Where the feck does the 1/4 million squidlies come from that the SPFL are "witholding" in relation to payments due? I thought Scottish football was skint!
Ally knows more than he's telling methinks.

Exactly. By those stats, barely 40% voted No. Including non-voters is utterly meaningless.
I said numerous times during the vote that less than 60% would be a disaster for the winning side and so it is proving.
No didn't get close to 60%.
They were as far away from 60% as Yes were from a dead heat.
Nope this is not going away.
Bluto, Reynard and BuddieinEK can wring their hands all they like and they can pretend to be in fits of laughter over our "delusion" all they like but the No campaign failure to hit a decisive 60% will be the end of the union.
Cameron cowing to "middle England" with his English votes for English matters will be more likey to
destroy the union, free Scotland. -
So Dundee United can get home nice and early. Also so that we don't damage the pristine pitch that is Love Street. Still the best pitch in the SPL. Well done Tommy.
FECK ME! Not heard that too often this season!

The toaster was taken away from Pittodrie after Aberdeen had to pay for the fire brigade being called out a few times on account of the toaster setting off the fire alarm... so the story goes.
I suppose, "Where there's smoke,.....
there still might be sh!te!"

He certainly has a cheesey......... grin!

Fair do's. The Dons have actual real fans who have made a fortune and are willing to spunk it on the club they are emotionally tied to. Falkirk had a director who, with his personal shoe shop chain money constructed a third stand for purely aesthetic reasons.
Those two lottery winners from Largs 'invested' in Partick Thistle's youth set up. It's ideally what we need. Turns out Bill Gates or Dickie Pickle was a secret lifelong Buddie with an Aber's Gonnae Get Ye tattoo on their left buttock.
The problem the Dons might have is that if they become debt free, some fans might be looking for them to spend, spend, spend, to take on ra' Sellik....merely kick starting the debt 'chase the dream' process again.
Doubt that will happen. With Scroogey Stewart in charge they might get a new kettle and toaster. And they'll probably be on Tic if that makes the fans happy!.

You have all missed the worst one of all. Gentlemen I give you f**king Murdo McCloud. What an absolute cock womble. It's Celtic this and Celtic that wi him.
Didn't he predict an easy victory for the hoops on 24/03/2010?

Think he has health problems (ahem)
Should that be "hic"

What was the score on the day ?
0-0 if I remember correctly.
Don't know the scorers!

Seems the English FA want Stewart Regan for a top job. Hurry up, Stewart. Don't let the door hit your a*se on the way out.

We can only hope he takes an assistant in the form of Doncaster!
Dear Santa............

According to the BBC News "... McCoist will also see his salary increase back to £750,000 a year."
Not bad for putting in your notice.
the man may be abysmal as a football manager but he is no fool. Or at least his agent wasn't!
While bleating to the blue sheep about "not walking away" and backing every incarnation of saviour for his new club he has never suffered financially throughout.
It was widely reported that, even when taking his "paycut", he had a clause put in the agreement that, if for any reason he was binned, he would revert to his original salary.
IF he has such an affinity with newco then perhaps he should walk away with nowt. Watch this space........... But, for gawds sake, don't hold your breath!

You say shitfest, and I say shitefest. Shitfest, shitefest, shitfest, shitefest, let's call the whole thing off...
A draw and one point apiece then?
-
Official attendance today given as 44,827. Looked at least half empty/full on stream which would suggest about 30K.
Anyone who was there give a realistic estimate?
Celtic count their season ticket holders whether they turn up or not.

The SNP have just had some great news in their quest for total control of Scotland.
Scottish Labour have introduced Murphy's law. (If it can go more wrong, we will go more right!)

I think the argument goes, (and I don't neccessarilly agree), IF you send the ball into the opposition's defensive third and, IF it goes out for a throw in, it has been suggested that more often than not, the team with the set piece does not retain possession of the football leaving your team in possession two thirds up the park. Percentage football is, I believe, the term.
