  1. Nah, I can't agree with that.

The root of the problem lies in how housing benefit and social welfare were formed. People thought that once they got a council house that was it, they were there for as long as they wanted it regardless of their work situation and their ability to pay rent. It's the same "entitlement" complex that so many people appear to have as a result of decades of state handouts.

So. Do you advocate eviction due to non ability to pay?

Perhaps the poorhouse should be reinvented.

Those who can't afford to pay a ridiculous tax, (and make no mistake, it IS a tax. It's taxing for those least equiped to pay) could send their kids up the chimney or down the mine. Oh. Wait a minutwe. Our government destroyed those mines so the latter is a non starter. just need to get them out on the streets with the begging bowls.bangin.gif

Underoccupancy is a nonsense. The majority of those who are in oversized accomodation can't get a smaller habitat in an area equivalent to their current abodes.

YES. Make those who are screwing the system tow the line as much as is possible while ensuring NO innocent party/ies is/are hurt.

I'd much rather accept the fact that some guilty get away than one innocent is hung out to dry.

  2. it does give them an advantage. What if they have signed that Icelandic star player and he hits the ground running and rattles in a hat trick? what if McGowan is transferred, or otherwise unavailalbe in February? what if McLean is away? and our good form has deserted us....

But at the same time, if we had played them when it was originally scheduled, given our form at that time, we surely would have got a thumping.

They do make such a fuss of things being fair eg, teams being made to complete a set of fixtures before moving ground it is a wonder they didn't insist the game was played in the same 1/4 or certainly before the next transfer window.

I like the mischevious idea above about all teams requesting a friendly when due to play Celtic though!

    Alternatively.

What if the Icelandic guy is a flop? What if we continue to win and our confidence grows and grows? What if McLean has been promoted to the full Scotland squad? What if McGowan has his mind right on the game? What if WE sign a loanee of the ilk of Isma?

NO NEED TO GET CROSS ABOUT IT!lol.gif

  3. Ah ok. So if it had been a 3 line whip they'd have lost anyway. Still I dont think that's an excuse. They get paid handsomely for doing their job, and are there to represent their constituents. Just looks like Labour dont care (rightly or wrongly). Total own goal here.

    Let's be honest.

If it were a three line whip, or any kind of flagellation device, they wouldd all be queuing up!whistling.gif

It has NEVER been a Munro. And wouldn't become a Munro, even if they'd found it to be twenty metres taller as it's too close to Sgurr nan Gillean.

Even as a Munro "top", I'd bet less than 2% of Munro baggers have been anywhere nearer Knight's Peak than the top of SNG. Too hard for most.

Ben Lawers -an easy Perthshire walk - had a massive cairn built on it way back around the 1880s by folk who loved that hill... And wanted it to just scrape over the magical 4000 feet mark to make it the 8th hill of that height in Scotland.

The OS ignored that and the cairn has since been dismantled/eroded/blown away...

The tiny top of Knight's Peak would be even less likely to keep its added height... he pointed out with a po face... smile.png

If I didnae ken ye better on here I'd swear this was a

  5. Dreadful news folk.

Apparently some boffins have declared that the "almost" Munro", Knight's Peak on Skye has been demoted for being 61/2 ", YES, six and a half inches, too short.

Could the next intrepid soul to climb the tor please take a couple of boulders and some super glue?

And on the way back could you pop in to Royal Exchange Square and use the glue for Wellington's cone?

    The world's gone mad!bangin.gifbangin.giffish.giffish.gif

  6. Heard the Jags fans singing a song that we used to sing, at the weekend and it got me thinking are there any other songs we've forgotten about.
    The song in question is this;

We will follow St.Mirren, over land and sea, AND SEA! We will follow St.Mirren on to Victory, ALTOGETHER NOW..

We don't win enough to remember the words..... UNTIL NOW!

I always liked singing "We're tap o' the league an' you're 'no". smile.png

    Sooooo Long ago, so ditto.

    "Let's all laugh at Rangers"

    They're DEED! So we can't.

  7. Considering only 700 tickets were available in advance from the ticket office (which sold out on Saturday morning), it shows the importance of a cash turnstyle.

It's very rare that we as supporters are in a stand with wooden floors. Did anyone else notice that the loudspeakers were not working either.

Given the lessons of the Bradford fire - I'm suprised that Thistle get a safety certificate.

In case anyone wants to know how quickly a fire can spread then watch how quickly the Bradford stand went up in smoke,

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLjquReTHcU

56 people died that day and hundreds were injured.

A toilet that fits 4 people at a time and no hot water at the food counter also

While they are three very valid points I feel we need to concentrate more on the three points which have now headed back to Paisley.

  8. A fantastic result without playing well. That's the sign of a good team.

I'm glad for Cheesey as it would have been easy for him to lose faith in his ability.

McLean is certainly playing a lot better since he was moved inside.

Thompson is back to his best but he needs to reintroduce his goal celebration as my four year old grandkid has perfected the copy.

Downside is we lose Goodie for the RC game I think.

  9. From the OS -

    Match Details

    The game kicks-off at 3:00pm.

    This match will be all-ticket*.

Ticket are available from the St Mirren Ticket Office during the following hours:

    Fri, Nov 8th – 10:00am – 2:00pm

    Sat, Nov 9th – 10:00am – 12:00pm (noon)

    * Any unsold seats will be available by paying at the gate at Firhill Stadium on the day of the match. Cash sales only.

    All ticket my arse !!!!!!!!!!!!

Some folk just like a good complaint.

It seems to me that the clubs are endeavouring to keep it "moneyless" entry but not at the expense of losing punters.

    Preferred option? Tickets.

    Fallback? Let them in.
