We had a spell last year as a bit of a media darling under JR. On the flip side though, the players are now public enemy number one because in football, you are not allowed to be disheartened or demotivated by incompetent or outright abusive team and man management and to express any form of displeasure is a cardinal sin. This will hopefully develop a bit of a siege mentality in our dressing room.

I'd like to ask some of these so called journalists what their reaction would be if their editor walked into the office in their first week and told the entire workforce 'You're shite, find another job ASAP'...

Would they be motivated enough to still give 100%?

Would they go 'f**k you, I'm phoning it on until I get something else'?

Would they group together as two fingers up to the new editor?

Football doesn't work in some parallel universe where players are expected to brush shite like that off, even though some expect them to...f**k knows why this is expected of footballers. Yes its a quite macho environment and you need thick skin but we've seen in the last couple of years that several professional young men in football have struggled personally as a result of terribly poor man management.

I said before OK started that regardless of his experience, his testimonials all hark back to his interpersonal skills which along with his intelligence, will prove his biggest asset. People are people regardless of profession and if you win over the people you're in charge of and get them to buy in, it is a massive advantage. If you invest a bit of time and effort in making folk happy and appreciated, they will fight harder for you.

Instead of recrimination via their media pals, Stubbs and Jackson should both be looking at themselves in the mirror and reflecting (pun intended) on their respective shortcomings both professionally and possibly personally.

Nail on the head. In any line of work or business you need to have managers with good personal and man management skills. It’s common knowledge that Stubbs and his yapping dug Jackson had neither.

The termination fee isn't specifically linked to the length of the deal. There will be a separate termination clause which will stipulate a much lower fee, probably a year's salary, for termination, with a similar amount being due if another club wanted to offer the manager a position while he was under contract.

Stop it, talking sense like this doesn’t fit in with Somner 9’s agenda.

All these football fans who seem over the moon that their manager might be sacked four games into the season? No wonder they call football fans fickle.  Still when Stubbzo does eventually go, how many games do you give the next guy?

    Four?

    Three?

come on, sacking someone is a piece of piss, how are you going to ensure you make us better because of it?

You would have been rejoicing had Jack Ross been sacked after the first 6 games of his tenure. You didn’t want him appointed in the first place, and you didn’t want to give him any time to fix the omnishambles left behind by his  predecessor Alex Rae.

  4. I’d say It could be McIntyre Gary Caldwell or Jim Goodwin lined up to take the seat at the helm, should Stubbs be given the boot this week.

McIntyre & Dodds would be a good fit imho as they have achieved a very decent level of success with a smaller club. Albeit one with a sugar daddy in Mr McGregor.

I do see and feel your sense of frustration at Alan Stubbs.

Us at Rotherham were upset by his appointment as we wanted an experienced manager (we turned down Gary Bowyer, Steve Mclaren and Tony Mowbray).

He brought in players who were substandard and the chairman even said he was worried about the new signings. He let both Leon Best and Matt Derbyshire go and took an eternity to bring in the ageing Dexter Blackstock. On a THREE year contract that the chairman had to pay up. He had no connection with the fans. He always sat on the bench during the game and let assistant John Doolan do the talking. There was a huge cheer when he decided to do some managing from the sides.

He said after his last game that the players are told the same things and dont listen so he is either confusing them or they dont want to know.

We paid him off after 5 months around 350 k and Doolan went too. The team was that bad that next manager Kenny Jacket walked after 5 games.

So yes he is not management or a people person.

I find it astonishing that our chairman seems to have overlooked the utter shambles that Stubbs left in his wake at Rotherham. He’s now repeating the same mistakes with a striking similarity with us. There is no doubt that he’s completely useless at managing football clubs, and that he should go back to work in the media before he completely ruins our club.

Had the opportunity to read the tweets you posted on here, and they don't resemble the take on their wording i picked up from others who commented on them. In short my original opinion on them was wrong. They dont read like club fed propoganda.

i'm not a fan of ITK gossip when it appears to be deliberate destabilising. But i hold my hands up when i'm wrong.

Yet last season you attempted to trash anything and everything achieved by Jack Ross. Our most successful manager in a very long time.  Was that not an attempt at destabilising ?

thing is it might cost a bit of money to get rid of Stubbs , and then even more money to appoint someone else  ,  so if he were to go , it might be the case of Rice taking over , does your mate in Inverness rate  him ?

I would say out of the three he rates Rice. As for Stubbs I would be astounded if the club have given him a 3 year contract with no clause in that to relieve him of his duties if he’s not doing the required job.

There’s no doubt in my mind that he was the wrong man for the job. GLS and Fitzy picked him and now they have to sort out this mess or we are heading back to where we came from.

thing is the players should be giving there all every week  , not giving %70 because they are in a huff , we need players  that will play with a bit of passion and bring others onto a game ,  never been a critic of McGinn , but he needs play a Captains role and try and get the team motivated , and not go through the motions because he doesn,t like the manager.

I agree in part but what about players who also were part of everything that was good about our club last season, having to watch a manager come in and rip the squad to peices. Last season’s squad probably needed about 5 decent quality players to add to those already there, just like Livingston have done, they kept the core of a successful squad and it was very apparent yesterday.

Stubbs has assembled a squad who would be lucky to stay up in the championship, never mind the premiership.  The board have got it all wrong they need to act and do it swiftly. Sack Stubbs now.

  9. Rumours currently doing the rounds are that the players don’t like Stubbs and positively loathe Darren Jackson. I’m not sure what’s going on behind the scenes, but it’s abundantly clear that the club is broken and has tumbled back down to the utter shambles of Alex Rae/ Ian Murray time.

Time for the board to sort this mess out and do it quickly because this manager is clearly not up to the job.

I think he`ll be sacked early december

That will be far too late Neil. He needs sacked now. Give someone else a chance to try and sort out the utter shambles that this clown has created. We have regressed back to the shambles created by Rae and Murray.

Might be better if he done some moderating on the forum.

I predict a poor crowd, decent weather and 3-1 St Mirren.

Just out of interest why are you predicting a poor crowd ,given that we have 3500 season ticket holders.

I expect to see at least 3800 Home fans, and roughly about 150 from the West Lothian plastic franchise. Taking us up around the 4000 mark would be decent.

One or more clubs are going to test Ayr's resolve with a bid for Shanks before the window closes hoping they will 'take the money' and replace him, rather than see him sign a PCA in January and move on then for a nominal amount, or nowt at season end.

i had heard we were very interested, but backed off when Ayr put their value on him. Interesting to see if we are one of the bidders at around £175k in the next week?

I know that I’ve raised the point before, but I can’t see us shelling out £175k for any player. I do get the fact that Shanks has managed to turn around all of his fitness issues and that he could well turn out to be a sound investment for any club willing to take the risk. He’s always been a natural finisher for me and a player that I would take back in a heartbeat.

But it would be a huge risk financially for a club operating at our level to pay that kind of fee, given that he might not even be interested in coming back.

Celtic left back ; Calvin Miller just signed new contract till 2020 - Wants to go out on loan to get game time.

Plays for Scotland younger squad and has played for Celtic first team.

    Should we be interested ?

Apparently not happy at left back and thinks it will benefit his career to play a more central role acoording to a Celtic supporting friend.

You'd have to imagine that Hibs are likely to put more money on the table, so if they want him, it's likely that'll be where he is headed.

At this stage of his career, given that he needs to play in order to stay match fit, I reckon he’s heading our way in order to get regular game time.
