Spoke to a few people today and its still being muted that 2 strikers incoming are imminent, one for 100k. Heaton looks decent and I'm sure he cost 45k.
For me we never replaced Mallan, when we get a free kick no one wants it. We need a bit of creativity in the middle of the park, we got the steel in McGinn.
We need a 25 goal striker IMO and the sooner the better, or we will be down by Xmas.
There is zero chance of St Mirren paying 100k for a striker. You’ll be lucky If we have 100k left of the overall budget to spend on recruitment.

Sorry i did have to laugh at that "Mullen as the main striker". He never has been, and never will be such, and i guess is likely to be let go, or dropped if Stubbzo gets his replacements in. All of course imo!
You don’t like Mullen fair enough. I rate him highly as it’s all about opinions. There are two strikers at the club at this moment in time, Mullen and Ross Stewart, who else can Stubbs realistically play as a main striker then ? His recruitment policy of 5th tier non league players from England might be doing it for you, but it’s never going to work for me. He’s seriously underestimating the quality of players required to compete at this level. So with that in mind he better up his game significantly and sign 5 quality players. While there is still time, forgive me if I don’t hold my breath in anticipation.

Hopefully Stubbs will see sense and get Cammy back where he belongs in the number 10 role. Mullen also has to start as the main striker.
This is an important game for Stubbs as there are already rumblings amongst the fans about his inability to recruit players, up to the required standard.
-
If Stubbs were to go down the route of signing utter dross like McMillan then GLS would be as well giving him his P45 just now.

Short memory from you Shull, have you forgotten where the club were under Tommy Craig Ian Murray and Alex Rae ? Jack Ross gave us back our club and an identity that the fans all bought into. He gave me a reason to go and look forward to watching the team.
Its all about opinions but I’ll be forever grateful for everything that Jack Ross and James Fowler achieved in those 20 glorious months. We should be embracing the good times and the memories, rather than coming across all bitter towards the man who done us all proud.
Seasons like the last one don’t happen very often for clubs like ours.

31 years old, with a very average scoring record.
Last played in India.
Sadly I remember the last player we signed who had just finished playing in India.
I doubt that this news will have fans dancing in the streets.
Not the kind of potential signing that would fill you with confidence.
It would appear that there is a distinct possibility that one or two possible marquee type signings have fallen through.
This is going to be a real test of Stubbs recruitment skills. Given that Hibs fans said recruitment was one of his strong points, he needs to find at least 3 or 4 signings of sufficient quality to enable us to compete at this level.

Martin Patterson ex Stoke, Burnley and Scunthorpe is apparently on trial.
-
There’s been little or no info about possible signings, it’s probably going to be a waiting game, between now and the first league game. I wonder if Stubbs is regretting last week’s comments about imminent marquee signings.

Any (deluded) thoughts of Adam Rooney arriving put to bed.

Apparently an increase on his wages at Aberdeen too!
Maybe this deal will instil some realism in relation to whom we're capable of signing.
6k a week wage is unbelievable for that level of football.
Its been reported on twitter that the fee was 375K

Hornby could be just the ticket if he arrives at Gilmour street station.

Looks like Stubbs rates Kirkpatrick - in the starting XI tonight with Ross Stewart on the bench but no sign of Eckersley.
Magennis is injured, otherwise I seriously doubt Kirkpatrick would be starting.

Nice lad but i dont think he has what it takes for the SPL. I wouldnt be too dissapointed.
He’s been mostly a squad player and hasn’t featured much so it’s not like losing an experienced starter. I would expect to see at least 3 incoming tomorrow or over the weekend.

Didnt want to start a new thread but just seen on Twitter that hippo to dunfermline may be on?
This true? It’s been on the pars forum that Hippolyte will sign for the Pars tomorrow.

Falkirk Dunfermline and St Mirren have all made contact with Middlesboro for striker Luke Armstrong.
Re joined Boro from Blyth Spartans after scoring 23 goals for them in 2017 season.
-
They will all go through in the next couple of days, don’t think it really matters as long as we have the squad up to the required numbers for the league opener against Dundee.

My thoughts too.

There are very few wingers who are comfortable with both feet have genuine pace and score loads of goals as well as making many assists.
Lewis Morgan has it all, I’ll stick my neck out and say that he’ll end up at a top club in the English Premiership.

The problem we have now is every club knows we have that money now and will up the price of any player if they are looking for a fee.
It’s the same for every club when they have money to spend from transfer fees. The power has shifted to the player and his agent nowadays. If the player wants to move then 9 times out of ten the agent will force the clubs hands to sell. We won’t be spending huge fees on players anyway, so don’t worry sit back and see what transpires.

Alloa chairman Mike Mulraeney on his twitter page has advised fans to keep an eye on the Alloa Athletic twitter page over the weekend , wonder if that means they,ve signed Stewart and Kilpatrick from us .
I would imagine that Stewart & Kirkpatrick are probably the players that Div was referring to on twitter when he said, there’s more than four who have been told that they can go.

Jack Ross would have been just as ruthless with the squad that won the league. One thing that became clear as day was he was at the helm.
Ross had a ruthless side and Stubbs is no different in terms of he knows what is required in order to compete at this level. My one concern is that he manages to sign enough players of sufficient quality for us to do this.

I can still whistle like the clangers.... Great memories for us old timers, where we also had more of my personal favourites like , Chigley, Trumpton and Camberwick Green.
The good old days of childhood.

Jim Gardner is possibly the worst excuse for a footballer I’ve ever had the misfortune to watch in the stripes. The fact that Motherwell got Paul Lambert and we got Gardner in part exchange, remains one of life’s great mysteries. Jimmy Bone must have been taking the same substance Maradonna was on last night, when he sanctioned that deal.

No need to worry, Clyde are apparently holding out for £100,000 fee if any team wants Goodwillie.

Do we have a ready made replacement for a Morgan type of player, who can single handedly win a game on his own, or supply the ammo for a 100k striker.
