  1. Bart my cousin works in Odeon, let me know next time your going to cinema and will tell him to change film to a language you don't speak and let you listen to students reading the script from a piece of paper through the cinema's speakers.

I'm sure you will enjoy the experience.

My anger is directed at both factors in this decision I can't make Friday night football therefore my son can't go either(potential future fan not able to go to games) good idea.

Other option is to watch a tv channel where I don't speak the language good idea number 2.

What about fans that can't go on a Saturday?

I personally love a Friday night game, clock off work early, head to the boozer, go to the football back to the boozer and still have the whole weekend ahead of you.

  2. What the discount for your baldy auld dad and your auld grey hair mother ? Shame we will miss it next week due to us having plenty of cheap Portuguese beers drinks_cheers.gif in us at that time but all the best anyway thumbup2.gif but when did Carol become a Mrs ?

No discount as you can pick up a polish for a few quid so it'll be cheap enough for you. Ok.. Mrs to be then. :P

  3. Like I said, all abou the risk/reward profile. I don't have any issue at all with those who take the risk making a good profit.

You've absoloute hit the nail on the head. The best suggestion I've seen so far.

We outsource our Catering, we outsource our strips. The benefits - we can budget accordingly knowing that we have a fixed income of X amount and no risks associated with it.

By allowing Kibble to pay a rent (increasing our income from what it is at the moment) they take the risks of the ventue. There would be no need for memberships from supporters. Home and Away fans can use the facility and at the same time we are enhancing the match day experience which can only lead to more attendances. (I'm not saying this sole venture will see a marked improvements in crowds - but it's part of the jigsaw. Football has to become a 'day out' experience where you can be at the ground for 5/6 hours on a Saturday afternoon.

  4. I know I'm asking for trouble posting this on a football forum....

The Mrs and myself are opening a Salon in Paisley (21 Broomlands Street).

We're having an opening day next Saturday, would be great to see a lot of buddies. We've went with a black white and red colour scheme.

There will be free champagne, free snacks and free Face painting so bring the kids as well.

There's a competition on our Facebook page to win 2x £50 vouchers and there will be opportunities to win another two on the day. (Treat the Mrs for free)

    Facebook - The Image Lounge

I must warn you however there is a £50 joining fee and a £10 monthly membership before you get your hair cut. ;)

We do Gents hair as well so it's not all about the ladies.

    Cheers

  5. absolutely not Paul. It's great now to get everyone's imput and it will be discussed at the comittee meeting. But it would impossible to consult every fan on everytime we want to do something. It's very simple. If anybody doesn't want to be member then that's fine. But I'm sure the 300 membership will be full by the end of the weekend as 225 fans have filled in the application form. The club is not gonna pay for this unless someone wins the lotto this is the only way we can do it. So join or don't it's that simple.

The point is... Why not say this is our idea, what's your thoughts, gather the input before deciding on how it's going to be done.

  6. that's fine David I feel same about you. Everybody on here can join the FC then apply for the committee. But you would all rather come here and moan about everything. Since I'm now no used to you I will be quiet on the subject. Get your info from fans council website. Thanx all. Coys

I offered to join over a year ago, they said they'd be in touch, still waiting.

What information from the Fans Council? The minutes haven't been updated in months.

  7. Can you imagine. Consulting fans with every decision we make. Nothing would get done. Trust us to do our best. Other ventures we have done have been a great success with the fans who have turned up. And sure this will be the same if you give it a chance.

    Gary -

    From the Fans Council website....

    • To act as an intermediary between the Club and the Fans
    • To share knowledge and best practice and to improve relationships between the various stakeholders, in particular the relationship between the Fans and the Club.
    • To provide a good communication flow, between the Club and the Fans.
    • To provide a platform for the Fans to ensure they are involved in appropriate decision making.
    • To act as the prime movers in various fund raising initiatives for the mutual benefit of the Club, the Fans and the Community.

The Fans Council aren't there to make decisions without consultation of the supporters. As others have said - why not raise the suggestion with supporters, tell them the Fans Council idea, allow it to be discussed, and have a consultation period before any decision is made.

  8. Supporter Club Update

Just providing an update re New Supporters Club and giving feedback on points raised by our fellow supporters.

Firstly every Fans Council member who wishes to join the new SMFC 1877 Supporters Club will pay the same rate and on the same terms as every other supporter who joins. Our minutes reflect we do not want any preferential treatment nor do we seek it.

The biggest talking point on this forum would appear to be about "signing in" a mate.

We have obviously discussed this issue so it's not news to us. There are a number of difficulties with this such as the following:

How do we ensure there is no overcrowding ?

How do we make sure that regular paying members are not disadvantaged by the odd supporter who turns up from time to time.

Do we rely on a system where members advise us they will not be using the facility and free up a place ? Who manages this ?

When you sign a pal in does he get in free when members are paying their monthly contribution ? Of course not !

We are open to suggestions to resolve this in a fair manner which DOES NOT disadvantage our paying supporter club members

Let us put it another way ....

Would you like to go to a sports cafe bar where St.Mirren supporters are welcome ?

Would you like to be encouraged to wear your club scarfs and St.Mirren tops in the bar ?

Would you like to be in an environment which encourages the singing of Saints songs ( the clean ones) ?

Would you like to meet Saints players after a game for a chat ?

Would you prefer to put your hard earned money in to the football club you support or a local bar owner ?

If the answer is YES there are only 75 places available at this time on Friday evening at 6pm

    The choice is yours.

This is your supporters club !

Would you like to go to a sports cafe bar where St.Mirren supporters are welcome ?

Available in Paisley without membership fees

Would you like to be encouraged to wear your club scarfs and St.Mirren tops in the bar ?

Available in Paisley without membership fees

Would you like to be in an environment which encourages the singing of Saints songs ( the clean ones) ?

Available in Paisley without membership fees - and the naughty ones

Would you like to meet Saints players after a game for a chat ?

For £120 a year.... Most of them have Twitter, I'll chat to them on that

Would you prefer to put your hard earned money in to the football club you support or a local bar owner ?

Ideally, I'd like to do both. Hit Paisley for a few before the game, head over to the supporters bar, have a few after the game then head back into Paisley. Why would we want to discourage supporting our local bars - who have been there for many years and are a huge part of our community? So I think its out of order to say don't give your money to a local bar owner give it to St Mirren instead.

You do realise you are asking for £120 a year, to go into a bar (which will likely contain over priced drinks) which is only open 5 hours every second Saturday... Are you lot completely f'king insane? Lets stop pricing people out of things! Imagine walking into a boozer and being asked to pay for a membership.

Answer this question - How much is the total refit going to cost, and how much are the club paying?

Once we have that information - maybe the thousands on here will be able to make a more realistic suggestion - I've not seen the Fans Council ask for views on how this would be workable before coming out with this - not exactly carrying out the role description on the website here.

  9. Getting a bar into the Void should have been done years ago.

Good idea, but there is about 10 or so of us that meet up at the pub in Paisley before the games, have a few beers and head down. We would head down earlier and spend money in the bar, but to pay a joining fee of £50, and a membership of £120... Wouldn't work for us.

Appreciate it has to be financed someway, that's why I like Div's suggestions - 100 x £250 for life time memberships with the remainder making a donation at the door. There would have to be someone at the door collecting donations anyway - so they'll be able to monitor numbers.

The big question that everyone has seemed to forget to ask...... How much for a pint?

  10. I can see why people think this move would have an adverse effect on attendances, but that's purely hypothetical.

I happen to believe, after some adjustment, it could improve attendances and certainly not cause any dramatic drop.

The "holiday" reason would have far less of an impact these days as many people take holidays outwith the summer months.

Nothing is insurmountable and I'd love to see it given a 5 year trial.

It could always be returned to the situation as it is now.

Agree with you regarding holidays. I tend to go away when it's miserable here earlier on in the year and later on the year.

Nothing better leaving a -2 Glasgow Airport and touching down somewhere warm and sunny a few hours later.

  11. I echo the comments above about taking the time to ask the fans about this. Much appreciated.

I would prefer option 2, but I know this won't have a hope in hell of going through as the Old Firm will have internationalists playing in Euro Championships etc.

Option 3 seems like the most realistic option that could suit all parties.

  12. If Thommo wants a deal and is prepared to take a first division strikers wages then sign him!

Why does Thompson need to be a coach this season?

Let him enjoy his last season as a player then go into the coaching side of football!

Or what about the Mixu type roll of player/youth coach?

Our youth set up doesn't work we make no money out it and we have just been relegated!

Teale and Longwell should go IMO!

A successful Youth set up doesn't happen overnight. We can't take average players and make them brilliant in the space of a few years.

We now have the facilities in place and have only had them for a few years. It's now key to get the potential players as young as possible so we can develop them over 8 years or so.

Look at the likes of McGinn and McLean. I have no doubt had we had proper youth facilities when they first joined the club then they would be even better players.

It takes years for the supporters to see the benefits of these facilities.
