  1. Never really thought about Naismith playing in that role, but I'm sure Irvine has before. Interesting idea.

I've said it a few times now I think he would be ideal in that role. Used to play central in the development team, can win the ball and has the engine to get up and down the park.
  2. Whilst I'm pissed off at Rae continuously blaming the players and not taking responsibility for poor tactics that even the most ordinary fan can see is not working, I think it's very early to be talking about change in manager.

His contract is up at the end of the season. He has to finish in top 4 out of a league of 10. A league that contains two part time teams. If he fails to achieve this then his contract shouldn't be renewed.

The only time I'd be considering changing this season if it becomes evidently clear that we are going to end up nowhere near the top 4.

  3. I'm fuming at that performance today. Fair play to Raith, they look a decent side and will cause a lot of teams problems.

It has been clear with every game in the LC and last week that 4-4-2 doesn't suit us. Especially when he's instructing Naismith not to overlap, one of his biggest strengths.

When we switched to three at the back last week we looked good. I had hoped we would start with that today. We didn't and again didn't look like a football team until we went three at the back.

The first goal was the exact tactic Rae tried to exploit lack of pace in Raith's defence... The only team that was good enough to do it was Raith.

The second goal came from our own bloody corner, and Langfield disappeared for the third. Not checked but no doubt we'll get his weekly apology on Twitter.

Rae seems to be a manager that spends all his time trying to outsmart the opposition instead of going, actually we have a decent squad, lets play to our strengths.

We have arguably some of the best strikers in the league, why are we going 442 and trying to play the long ball. We are static, can't move and have a midfield that are posted missing. Why not just play to our strengths, three at the back and focus on scoring as many as possible.

As soon as we go three at the back we have plenty of options in midfield and up front and we actually look decent going forward.

If he starts 442 next week we are going to get absolutely pumped.

It's so f'king obvious we can't play four at the back so why do we keep f'king doing it!

We should have had IMO two stonewall penalties today, but if we took anything from that game it would have been criminal.

  4. Terrible performance yesterday, although I can't remember the last time we had a decent opener.

I gave AR the benefit of the doubt during the cup games as it was technically pre-season.

But it has became obvious now that Mallan is a luxury we can't afford in a four man midfield as he just simply isn't good enough when it comes to defending and winning the ball back.

Hutton has been taking pelters but he's trying to do the work of two men so it's no surprise he's running about like a headless chicken.

I also think with a 4-4-2 we're very static and there's a real lack of movement. It's clear what passes we are going to make and if the opposition is sitting in, we're creating nothing.

We can't play the long ball game without Sutton on the park.

I think 3-5-2 is generally a good fit for us. Walsh and Morgan are both young players and should have engine to be able to get up and down the park. Five in the midfield will allow Mallan to have a free role behind the front two. It will give us more control and allow us to create more.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing Naismith in the old Goodwin role just to see if it would be a good fit. I can see him winning the ball and driving forward.

I'll be at Raith next week, but big improvement is needed.

  5. Was at the opening night for Saporito High St on Thursday, tried out the restaurant upstairs on Friday and was in on Saturday night as well.

Prefer it to the Wine Bar, lots more room and good if there's a crowd of you in. Live music was good as well.

  6. Had heard he had taken seriously unwell yesterday but was praying for a miracle.

Devastating news. Lovely guy, who was the life and soul of the party and would stop and chat to any St Mirren fan.

Like SPS had the pleasure of his company on the way to Sheffield last year, and he made it an absolute hoot.

Thoughts with his family, and his many friends. :(

  7. Smisa and Gordon have been very careful not to offer, or distribute the goodwill of the club to aide or support the bid.

Your £12 a month goes to buying a significant share in the club, and building up a cash reserve members can choose how to allocate. If Smisa sold advertising space in the ground to fund the bid, that would be taking money that should rightfully be going to the club.

As long as a business nominates an individual they can sign up to the bid and see recognition of that in a founders plaque to be displayed at the Stadium. I am sure we will see a renewed drive from Gordon and his board to get local businesses involved in supporting and sponsoring the club.

Contact Smisa to get your business signed up, its already available.

But it's pretty much exactly what is already on offer as a personal member.

I'm not expecting the kind of trackside advertising, I'm looking at just basically the name of the company. Why not do a history board incorporating local businesses that supported the bid, just like they are doing for personal memberships.

They're losing one addition membership here with that approach.

There's also the bigger picture, a business contributing a monthly payment will likely take more interest in the club, this could potentially lead to other commercial activities such as trackside advertising etc. A bigger database of contacts etc.

There's also the additional exposure to either the bid or club in the long term, my shop gets approx 10k views on FB a week, if the shop was investing in this, I would have no problems in promoting the club on match days, special deals for those with a ticket etc.

It's very short sided to miss out businesses as they pretty much make up a large part of the local community.

My shop is in Broomlands Street, a five minute walk from the stadium, not one person has approached myself or any of the staff about it with ANY kind of proposal for the business to sign up.

    From SMISA website:

    - All those who sign up by 1 July 2016 will get their names incorporated into a history board to go up in the main stand commemorating this momentous event for our club
