  1. St Mirren circling Danny Grainger

St Mirren have an eye on former Hearts defender Danny Grainger, after he was released from the club earlier this year. Grainger is back to full fitness after a spell of injury, and Saints boss Danny Lennon looks set to make his move. (Daily Express).

.....in The Scotsman gossip round-up this morning.

Could be a shout would be a bit worried about the number of different injuries he's had though but at this point I'm thinking getting a left back in is desperate! I'm sure we don't have many other options of quality left backs to bring in.

  2. I thought he looked pretty close to being able to make the step up.

I've already posted elsewhere this morning that I wouldn't have a problem seeing him starting games on the basis that we've got experienced cover at right back. The only way these lads will proress is if there are given a chance, and it looked to me that Naismith is ready for his.

he made a couple slack passes and din't look comfortable on the ball, he didn't do anything that would make me think he's ready to play SPL football at 19 so no way I would want him as a starting centre back next season, I thought the same about Cheesy at that age as well though and think going to Queen of the South changed him into a player. I think another loan deal would be best for naismith and a couple the other young lads.

  3. What did Naismith do wrong on Saturday?

I didn't say any of them did anything wrong and of course he was out of position but would you say he's SPL ready for next season? I've seen him play a good few times and I don't think he's ready to step up. Like I said though I don't agree with anyone hammering into them the young players just don't seem (yet) to posses SPL quality. We need to be looking at a couple new players.

  4. I have to say even though i don't agree with hammering the young lads at the club the reality is they don't really seem to be very good. Compared to the promising youngsters we've seen in the past they just seem to lack confidence and really uncomfortable on the ball. One of the major concerns for me for next season though is how uncomfortable Cornell looked on the ball, McAusland and Van Zanten don't really like the short pass out from goal and I just didn't like the start of the link up play coming out from the goalkeeper. Van and Cheesy have their good points as defenders but playing the ball to their feet from goal isn't one of them.

  5. I don't think it lacks ambition, if he's guaranteed first team football at Dumbarton we can't give him that and who's to say after one or two years at that level he won't get picked up by a bigger team. With our budget next year he may be kept instead of loaned out and might find himself more often than not on the bench behind Vanzy and if Barron is back fit.

  6. Don't see what all the fuss is about, the squad that saw us finish 2nd bottom in the league has been deemed as not good enough and as a result most of the players responsible for this are being punted. If we still haven't added quality by the start of August by all means feel free to moisten ones pants.

I need to agree, I think it was pretty clear Sammy and McGowan would go and a long shot that we would keep any of the loan lads. Anyone else leaving I don't see as a major concern and we should be positive that some big players for us this season have signed back up. I would of maybe offered Carey a new deal but can see why Danny hasn't the rest is no great loss. Major rebuild and lets see.

  7. I would not worry. There will be a number of good keepers looking for a club in the summer. There will be a few new names next season within the entire team. I would like to judge young Adam and hope Danny gives him a game now that the season has ended for us and we are unlikely to achieve a higher position.

Robertson as well, want to see if he's ready for the first team.

  8. The keeper position is our biggest worry next season, I've never really rated Sammy in the same breath as Money, Ludo, Combe, Gallacher who we've had whilest growing up. They are keeper that have won us games and made spectacular saves, I don't think Sammy is in that group and I hope we bring in someone with a bit of experience who can be up there.

  9. i cannot believe what i am reading on these forums, st mirren supporters sound like they are seriously considering turning there back on there team???

Mr Gilmour is not st mirren, st mirren is about the history, the town, the people and the fans and is a club we all love, so if you have issues with him/the board go along like myself on monday and tuesday are air them directly to them.

but by not going to games or cancelling season tickets do you guys not realise that that WILL KILL ST MIRREN, and surely none of you want that seriously ???

All of us are agreed that reangers have done wrong and deserve to be punished and hoepfully the SFL can make up there own minds and i trust them to force them into the 3rd division.

but this is about st mirren now not rangers, dont let our club be another victim, we need more fans at this moment in time not less !!

I agree with what your saying however i feel these actions are needed to show how strongly we all feel. A powerful message is needed so that our team make sporting integrity paramount in all decisions. I think our club will do the right thing in all senses (Eventually) and it won't come down to cancelling season tickets.

  10. Agree with some of the posts on here, if Rangers start life over again anywhere bar the Scottish third division (Or lower, if league re structuring comes into place that means relegation from the third division they should be starting in the very very bottom tier) I will be cancelling my CIC subscription and will stop going to games or bying merchandise. We support this team and the team needs to support us when it comes to issues we feel so strongly on.

  11. Can we get a vote on whether we would be willing to see this happen? Personally any amount of league revamping should not permit a Newco any higher than the very bottom league of the Scottish footbal system (including lower leagues if relegation is introduced from Division 3) New Rangers in my opinion should not be aloud to queue jump anyone at all and it should be bottom league or bust..... Or so I believe.

  12. Jim Spence reported this on the wireless last week, but Milne denied that any decision had been made. To be honest, they will face a huge backlash from the support if they do anything other than vote NO, so I suspect we'll hear from them shortly, right enough.

It is a real shame that our BoD has missed the opportunity to lay down a marker on this. It would have been a wonderful legacy for Mr Gilmour and the other outgoing consortium members.

As it goes, I consider them to have bottled it.

Agree Drew hopefully something they are discussing at this very moment and will do the right thing and publicly say no!
