  1. Mentioned in another thread but I though this could run on its own.

    A few starters

Rick Nelson Hello, Mary Lou, Goodbye Hearts

Rolling Stones This could be the last time. It's all over now

    Stone Roses Going Down

Status Quo Down down, deeper and down

Dinah Washington Every time we say goodbye

Vera Lynn Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye

  2. What about 'Going Down' by The Stone Roses?

Got to include "This could be the last time" by The Rolling Stones, or "It's all over now".

Or, by Rick NelsonHello Mary Lou, GOODBYE HEARTS, Sweet Mary Lou I'm so in love with you.I knew Mary Lou, wed never partSo hello Mary Lou, GOODBYE HEARTSAnd we can all join in with the words in capitals
  3. In the second half, Connor was forced to kick the ball out to the West Stand cos a Staggy was down in our area, we had all the momentum of a good build up and lost it by playing like gentlemen. I liked Goodie's instruction to Dillo later in the game when something similar looked like it was about to happen, and he wagged his finger at Dillo and told him to get the ball the feck up the park. Lo and behold, the boy in blue was back on his feet in jig time.

  4. The received (or if you prefer perceived) wisdom over here is that Adams never fired a gun but McGuinness did. If Martin Mcguinness wasn't a total abstinence pioneer, he would have been able to dine out for years on his fame of having fired the first shot on Bloody Sunday. That piece of 'history' has of course been rewritten for obvious reason. Adams apparently condemned a lot of men and women to death (from both sides of the religious divide) but it is thought he never actually delivered the coup de grace personally.

I believe that the Good Friday Agreement virtually means that both Adams and McGuinness are untouchable so far as terrorist actions are concerned but the Jean McConville case just could be Gerry Adams's Achilles' heel. But I doubt if he will ever do time.

Aye, I could go with that, he looks like he'd be happy to sit in the background, dispensing orders (justice, by his logic) whilst others do his dirty work, meanwhile McG has more the look of a streetfighter. But we all know there were no Republican shots fired on BS, only those fired by the Basturt Brits. whistling.gif

I worked in Dublin for a couple of years and it's amazing the lengths of denial and deflection that some people are willing to got to, the number of times i backed out of an argument, sorry, "discussion" cos they were getting far too fiery and heavy (sometimes dangerous)

  5. It's easy to write it off because of the eventual failure and I know it won't be a popular choice but I'd agree with this actually. Throughout that period we had a mix of everything. It was at times informative, educational, enlightening, with many passionate posts and a fair degree of humour. I know I went from a position of being completely disappointed in the initial proposal and somewhat sceptical to taking on a lot of the information and implementing some of what I learned at local juvenile level and I still see Social Enterprise as the way forward for Scottish Sport at all levels. I even found myself sitting through a two day conference on the subject at Stirling University at one point. There also haven't been too many subjects that have managed to mobilise a large number of St Mirren fans in such a positive way.

Again not a specific thread, but a clutch of them - but the posts around the time of Rangers liquidation made great reading.

    And will be again soon.

  6. Not so long ago was out with my brother in Paisley , the taxi rank was busy so thought I would walk and flag one down. Ended up walking to Lochwinnoch have done that twice and can confirm its quite a walk. smile.png

I missed the last train (11:30, it was a Wednesday) back from Glasgow to Bishopton, taxi q outside Central like an execution, so feckit, I'll walk. Got home at 5 am, I wasn't think straight (pished) so followed the bus route, into Paisley along Paisley Road, Glasgow Road, Caledonia St, St james interchange, etc. 18 miles. Sair feet for days.

  7. I fell asleep in a car once on the way to Kilmarnock... I woke up in Moscow!

    Does that count?

Nothing, at least that's the same continent, my mate was driving me to Durham, we both had some coke in Carlisle, when I woke up we were in Quebec.

  8. I worked with a guy years ago, who lived in Kilmarnock. After getting pished on a night out in Glasgow, he got on the train at Central, fell asleep and woke up in Carlisle. No traisn coming up that night so he had to sleep in the station overnight there, then back up on the first train in the morning. Anyone been more "adventurous" than that?

  9. It is not as simple as 2nd top in Championship plays 2nd bottom of Premiership.

4th in Championship plays 3rd in Championship (2 legs) then the winner plays 2nd in Championship (2 legs) and then the winner of that game plays 2nd bottom of the Premiership (2 legs).

No, I know that, I just think the final play-off will be Hibs vs Hamilton, 'mon the Aitches.
  10. Mibbe a wee bit early for this as we only know two of the so-called big clubs who'll be competing there next season, Hearts and the Ibrox Mob.../quote]

    My thought?

That Ibrox mob, IF they are there.... and IF they are playing from Ibrox will be starting with a severe points deficit and NO money.

What makes you think they'll be competitive against full time professionals, when they struggled so much this season, with so many late goals and the usual penalties against part-timers? unsure.png

I take your point, I said competing in the sense that they will be in that division. I didn't mean to imply they'd be competitive, I think they'll struggle to make top 4, unless Gregg's Greatest Customer is given a Wonga-type war chest.

  11. Mibbe a wee bit early for this as we only know two of the so-called big clubs who'll be competing there next season, Hearts and the Ibrox Mob, but it could be a wee bit tasty in there, looks like even Dumbarton might be on a roll, given their recent form, in with possibly Hibs smile.png and Falkirk. I fancy Dundee, even against Dumbarton, only need to avoid a drubbing, for the title, Hamilton are playing Morton in the last game of the season, and could give them a skelping, so should be in second place. Falkirk host Alloa who will see their chance of staying up with only a point as Cowdenbeath face an in-form QotS.

So, Dundee up as Champions for next season, Hamilton beat Hibs in the play-off, leaving The Ibrox Mob, Hearts, Hibs, Dumbarton and Falkirk playing for the top two. Your thoughts?

  12. was not Indians and cowboys I'm sure I read in the PDE ?

They used to do Western night in there, including quick draw competitions. I was walking the dog past one night when three cowboys came out punching hell out of each other, followed by two bar girls in full gear.

  13. Still a wee bit complex with 4 fixtures remaining to say whether we would need 37 or 38 to be safe, too many imponderables, it'll be a bit easier to calculate come Sunday. RC could still win 3 of the 4 (don't laugh at the back) putting them on 40, so it could all go topsy turvy again.

Just did a wee calculation, there are still 30 points to be played for in the bottom six, if every game resulted in a win/loss, hunners of ways they could be divvied up.
