We don't have a Commercial Director, he stepped down after the CIC failed...
I thought Brian was now filling this role?
borrowing from where?
from a bank, new investors, SMISA, probably several more sources than i can mention
If the investment is sound , has a credible plan to both repay any loans and provide a return and is spent only on profitable asset then the money can be found. If it's not borrowing for the playing staff then there are people who will listen

Ian and Billy. There is no doubt Campbell does s decent job of that there is no doubt. However my wife have only attended hospitality once at the new ground and frankly I was disappointed.I preferred it at Love Street when Sally did the meals. The real problem is we should have a properly qualified Markerting Director to explore all the commercial possibilities of our lovely new stadium.Campbell would of course remain part of that team.In the meantime we are all agreed we require immediately a new Football Manager with sound ideas to ensure our Premiership status.
we have a commercial director, why would we need a marketing director
the commercial team work hard to get in and stage external events, but they have at least one hand tied behind their back by the board who refuse to invest in the advertising tools required to stimulate interest, or in upgrading the exisiting assets which are already starting to show signs of ageing. You need the tools if you want to do a bit of marketing and they are supplied with none. You speak to the commerical guys and they will tell you they need road signs on the motorways, advertising at the airport and in the city centre and decent ads in trade publications. They know everything that is needed and which will work, but get no support from the board.
Saying takings are down everywhere is a red-herring as we need to be stealing business from other venues and showing clients what their reduced budget will buy in our fantastic location. If the Ramada take is down 10% then we should be working to reduce their take by 20% next year as we steal from them. Currently, we just don't compete when we need to be aggressive
As previously said, cost cutting is fine if you re-invest some of the money saved in areas to grow the parts of your business that have potential, but we are engaging in self-propagating cuts that will lead to further loss of custom, leading to more cuts. Saying everyone is losing a bit is no excuse
The current strategy (if you can call it that) of making the club more saleable by demonstrating consistently low costs is a bad one from all perspectives. Time to show what a bit of investment can do, even if it is funded by a little borrowing.

Implying a conflict of interest is actually a very serious thing to do and should not be done lightly. I would question the wisdom of starting this thread

Me and a mate are going to see Peter Gabriel. The best seats are £250.00 which also gets you into the sound check - big deal. So we got £55.00 seats at the back.
Just heard Fleetwood Mac are touring in June with the full original line up - Rumours line up.
So just phoned for three tickets. Was told they go on sale Friday £140 for the best seats £50 odd for the wings.
Not going to bother. To think I seen Pink Floyd for £30.00 the biggest and best concert I have ever seen.
Ian, add to the injustice the secondary sale websites that the ticket agents set up and operate, they sell the first 10-30% of the good tickets to their own subsidiary, who then re-sell then at X times the face value as if they are being e-bayed
Live music is one of the great pleasures but it is being severely tarnished by the rampant greed of the ticketing companies and the venues
I swa Fleetwood mac at the Apollo in 77 and they were well worth the couple of quid that my ticket cost me, saw them on telly a few months ago and honestly would tell you to save your money.
i reckon that the damage to my hearing over the years is reaching the stage that i can maybe attend another half-dozen live events before i call time on 40 years of gig-going and i will be using those wisely (or unwisely in some people's judgement). While I will miss the buzz i will not miss the exploitation

A rangers fan at work was at the game and he claims never to have heard fans booing their wown team so much. he said it was like a competition between the west bank and the family stand to see who could boo the most/loudest

we cant continue to use Goodwin as a yardstick for every misdemeanour. He is at least partially responsible for the position he is now in
looking at this case on it's own merits, it as petty as hell
-
Etihaddies ?
Etihadit
-
Surprised E hasn't been on here bragging about his intervention.
Incredibly petty reaction to a nothing event

Weekend ruined like most weekends. No more I'm begging, get shot of TC
this is the bottom line, people who work hard and can choose to spend their money on any number of things invest their cash and their hopes in the saints
then this gets pished on by a board who don't care and only focus on the lowest cost base they can conceive. appointing craig was just the worst decsion made at the club since Coughlin was promoted by the same men. If they were worried about losing money then this was hare brained in the extreme
blind support of this regime is only adding to the problem, but you are a football fan so what do you do?
-
15 minutes left, please give us a goal

So no credit to Craig if we win, but criticism to Craig if we lose?
f**king hell.
you named that tune in 1
he could have signed fewer and better players pre-season and used the kids to support them. Signing a bunch of duds meant we were always 90-100% likely to fall back on youth anyway
performances crowds and income could well have been up leaving us in a better position to strengthen in the new year and if they didnt we would have been no worse off as the expenditure would have been the same or similar and he would have got credit for signing good players with what he had. Now we have a bunch of kids trying to clean up his mess
-
i hope the kids can give us something today and also hope thatTC doesn't get credit if the kids do turn it around, he would never have thought about picking any of them if his own signings had worked out
-
Ball is never a professional football player, never. Big useless lump.
some were salivating over the goals tally he racked up on TC's pub-team pre-season tour
we live and learn (except, possibly, Mr Ball & Mr Craig)
-
That's very sad. I and most other fans will never, ever wish defeat on our club. Regardless.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
I wouldnt wish a defeat on our club, i would add that if a defeat would see craig out, a progressive manager appointed, new blood and a new determination in the player pool then I would take 0-1 right now and look forward to the next game
But none of these things will happen even if we get banged up the arse today and i wish only for a win
I have a huge amount of sympathy and understanding for those who do wish a defeat today, it is misguided but very understandable
-
To go from watching players like Newton and McGowan to this shite, brutal.
much as i don't rate craig, the missing players (except goodwin) are much better than those taking their places today
just think, McGowan got slated for his performances last year-he was released and with his nonsense behind him is flourishing again
we draft in 3rd rate replacements and nosedive, the replacements will be dumped next year and then replaced with even worse players
our decline will gather pace and we wil be pumped into league one in 2 years
how many people who slated McGowan, amongst others, will be happy with what they got?
-
we can only do better in the 2nd half
-
it's dangerous to let fans in to carry out the work of paid employees. FFS, we are a premiership team, not whitehill welfare!
Unaccountable people making decisions and carrying out uninsured work is not the way to go.
Maybe the club could look at a formal internship programme for fans with a future, but please-no enthusiastic amateurs shitting the place up even more
-
going out to walk the dug and get some wine in. I cant even listen to this.
will check in at half time and decide if it is worth settling down for the second half orjust do what the Mrs ordered and clear out the loft
loft looks the best option right now
-
Wylde not even on the bench-is he injured?
-
Shhh , he doesn't want his name spread about !
thought it was your nickname in the 70s, Billy
-
Billy, I reckon the BoD looked at the league this year and thought.... No Hibs, Hearts or Sevco...we should be OK to promote an assistant and two players to keep costs down and still survive until club is sold.
We needed a clean sweep as TC was very influential in DL signings and football philosophy.
They assumed we would be OK in a mini league with teams like Hamilton, Thistle, Dundee, Ross county and Killie.
It's a dreadful strategy-we have reduced income so we cut costs, but theway in which we cut costs leads to an ever more reduced income as fans, sponsors, etc find somewhere else to spend their money.
It's the business version of a self-fulfilling prophecy. A wee bit of spin lets the board pass it off as good stewardship, but it is nothing of the sort. Our commercial staff are fighting with both hands tied behind their backs
This board need to realise that our main asset (possibly the only real asset we have) is our SPFL status and they need to invest in that to increase income.
Cutting costsis fine if you re-invest at least some of the money saved in new and better assets to enhance the comercial and playing structures. Unfortunately that does not seem to be happening here and the only way for us really is down-andpossibly out

I got one for free the other day - as did my Carer. She took me to a blood donor vehicle that was just round the corner from her house. Lovely latte so it was an a Fruit Club to go with it
Fixed it

1 in 3? Don't remember that! Possibly 1 in 3 months
Don't remember? How convenient.

I thought Brian Caldwell occupied this role. May be a different job title but a friend of his works for me and Brian was the guy i have dealt with when setting up events at the ground
