  1. this post beggars belief and highlights how oaksoft has absolutely no financial sense whatsoever

if we cant pay the players then we obviously don't lose any money

    1eye.gif

administration would be the next step

Only businesses that cant meet their committments can go into administration

therefor you need to have lost a significant sum to be eligible to have an application for adminisration accepted

if you are not losing money then you cant go into administration-you are expected to cover your committments

  2. there is no point in slating the manager. he shouldn't be in his position but we need to recover

Limping to one or two victories per month might just keep us up.

The teams around us are probably more likely to try and spend their way out of trouble in the new year, all we really have is fans supporting a scrappy looking squad.

much as it chokes me, i will be getting behnd the team-it is the only way for us as the player and management situation won't change

  3. Surely we will only get a buyer that thinks there is opportunity to make profit from St Mirren and that can't be all bad.

Unless someone decides to asset strip the club then the only other way is prize money and sale of players, which would lead to exiting times ahead for us.

I understand the fears of going the way of hearts, rangers etc..

However part of me thinks f**k it it's not that bad if we have some fun and enjoy our selves

is the bold bit a freudian slip?

I think asset strip is the only way anyone can make money from a non-old firm club in scotland

we dont have that many assets that can be realised. the stadium is only worth land value and nobody else would want a stadium there. take away the demolition costs and the ground we have is worth hee-haw, really.

Ralston is on a highly-conditioned lease and would have to be returned to some sort of public use if we vacated-so no value there either.

Unless we get a sugar-daddy or a fan-led consortium in charge then we are stuffed-cant see the fun in that

  4. Average age of our starting 11 against Ross County was only 23. Probably the youngest squad in the league despite what they say about Hamilton, United etc. It probably partly explains our disappointing start to the season. Things will get better.

It doesnt explain much of it, the difference between our players and some doing much better is only a matter of a few months. if it were years then it might be significant.

and 23-ish as an average age doesnt seem that young, anything below 22 would be more significant.

another thing to remember, young teams tend to shade after a few months-this might well be the best we will be in the season. a sobering thought for all

  5. As a runner, I think this was a cack-handed attempt to run into Cameron. The guy could easily have avoided any collision - there was distinct movement towards the target.

Yes, you would definitely have to be a "runner" to observe that. None of the rest of us are really aware of the co-ordination of brain, feet and legs.

  6. It is.

I just like living on it.

GMT in winter and GMT +1 in Summer would put us more in line with our sensible European partners and help cut accidents.

Harold Wilson saw how good it was and I lived thru a wee experiment of it, back in the day. It does make sense for the majority.

If only we weren't constrained to a Great British desire for unity.... rolleyes.gif

Well Harold Wilson was suffering from dementia by the 70s, so i suppose all kinds of things made sense to him.

I remember this experiment well, one of the reasons it failed was the fact that schoolkids in Scotland were walking to school in proper darkness (conditions you wouldn't let them wander around in night-time) for over 2 months of the year. i also recall the proponents trying to get kids issued with fluoroescent sashes and wee plastic hats with rotating lights on top saying "see, it's not so bad".

Our daylight-saving time suits our latitude, as proven by said experiment. Why can't you accept the settled will of those entrusted to decide this?

  7. I'd agree, 6 months average across the team is the same as replacing 2 rookies with 25 year olds with plenty of experience.

Depends on the ages of celtic's younger players.

i wonder how it looks if you take out the 2 youngest and 2 oldest players from each squad

Not that i will take the time to do it, but it would give a better picture of core strength

  8. What a bizarre individual you are.

Asking for the manager not to be sacked after 11 games is trolling?

Don't think so. What is trolling is criticising the Saints travelling support for something they didn't do, at a game you weren't even at, and then slinking away like a coward when asked to apologise. Trolol.

I think you will find i did apologise, sort of. and the comment in the first place was along the lines of "If this is true, those involved, etc"

If yu are not at thegame then you are kind of dependent on media reports

And the most important point, we were talking about you, not to you. But trust me, it will be the last time

  9. Watch her debating, and her style is to shout. You've clearly got the nat specs firmly strapped on though, fair enough. You thought Yes was going to win, didn't you?

Meanwhile, back in the real world.

That would be the world where Tommy Craig is a success then?

  10. Always loved that saying.

    That ... is ... class. lol.gif

That would be hilarious ... but it will be the egg man (coo coo ca choo) on his irn bru crate, probably.

There will belong faces all round if it is Murphy

Talked so much "pony" on his crate tour that he ended up looking and sounding a little hoarse (said with a paisley accent

  11. The only issue I have with Tommy Craig is his record with St Mirren is similar to his record with Charleroi and I don't think he should have been appointed.

I defended Danny Lennon because from his 2nd season on I thought he either did well or OK for us. I defended him when we were 11th last season after our bad start and predicted we would finish 8th or 9th and that some account should also be taken of the League Cup win and 8th place the previous season. Last year we finished 8th despite a honking season in the transfer market and Lennon serving time on DVZ, Barron and Mair and I fully expected Lennon to have overhauled the defence has he stayed on.

I don't think Lennon could have stayed. He had been loyal to McGowan and the board were never going sanction a new contract for Paul

Craig and an unknown cohort of playerseffectively handed Lennon his jotters knowing that the "he goes or I go" stance was too rich for the board's blood. weakness at the top has caused this perfect shit-storm

  12. Not all bad? Aye, a draw at home to the bottom side in the league ain't bad.

    Your hypocrisy is laughable.

I would stop feeding this particular trol. he seems to be revelling in his notoriety and trying to redeem his shitty behaviour last year by pretending to be balanced and factual in respect of Mr Craig.

He is obviously trying to explain away his reprehensible behaviour last year by attempting to portay himself as a Dickson-style wind up merchant.

like all others, he will go away if ignored (maybe coming back with a new identity if he is still hooked on the attention)

  13. New oil field discovered in North Sea. Announcement made by BP and suez.

Oil was drying up if we voted yes. This new find must be a benefit of voting no then...

and the announcement of the true extent of reserves in the Clare field is still pending

Bad news for the UK, that pesky oil is bad stuff

  14. It's a ridiculous policy poorly thought through.

Over the course of the weekend Asda were issuing free plastic "Bags For Life". That's fair enough, however after doing my shopping I had a look at the products that I had bought and it was evident that the plastic bag itself is the least of the problems there. Far more bulky and more problematic to dispose of was the packaging on the products themselves. For example I had bought some grapes Aye-Right! - they came in what now appears to be a standard plastic box container wrapped in a plastic bag. Bacon came in a plastic container Disgusting-You shouldn't have brought mister bacon with you. Milk, in a plastic bottle. The Pepsi I bought came in plastic bottles. Tea bags in a cardboard box, then covered in a plastic wrap. Eggs in a plastic box. Even my coffee - bought in a supposedly eco friendly refill package was wrapped in plastic.

Last week I was in St Tropez Those tanning salons are very bad for you. There they have brought in a similar policy regarding plastic bags. Their supermakets issue better quality bags than we are used to - kind of like our Bags For Life. However there you pay your fee, which was 20c per bag, but if you return the bag to be reused by someone else you have the fee refunded. This is clearly a far more sensible and far fairer way to operate a chargeable plastic bag policy.

Thirdly, on Thursday I had a chat with a lady who owns a small private grocer shop in Penicuik. She had been doing a bit of council bashing with the customer who was in front of me in the queue and she continued the conversation with me referencing the new plastic bag policy. She told me that she is to be invoiced every month by Midlothian Council for the number of plastic bags that she has sold. However she's had nothing through from the council to explain how this is supposed to work and when she phoned them for advice she was told that regardless of the number of bags she issues the council will be sending her a bill based on the number of bags it guesses that a business of her size would issue. The council have explained that it would take too many man hours to work out real figures for each shop. The shop keeper clearly doesn't know if this will be in her favour or not, but she feels that the local authority will most likely over estimate and with no means for her to appeal any over charge she feels that this will simply put more pressure on her small business. Now I wasn't aware that local authorities were going to be doing this. Asda claimed that their profits from plastic bags would be donated to local charities and I had assumed that it would land up another profit making venture for business, but if local authorities are claiming their cut regardless of how successful a retailer is in reducing the number of bags issued then surely that defeats any "green" advantage there is to the policy.

Fourthly, I use online shopping for my groceries most weeks and have done so for more than a year. Is this only since you left the marital home-or did you always get your goodies online? I use Tesco more often than not. Every single shop I've done I have requested no plastic bags in order to gain a few extra Clubcard points, however Tesco use a system of colour coded plastic bags to indicate to the delivery driver short dated products and replacement products in any order. I was told that Tesco have said they won't be changing this policy any time soon, and I was told by my regular delivery driver that if I didn't request plastic bags I wouldn't be charged the standard 35p Tesco are putting on online orders. All of this defeats the purpose.

And finally in North Lanarkshire our council issue free plastic bags to every resident on demand for us to use for our food waste. It's quite clear that all that will happen is that residents in North Lanarkshire will stop using supermarket bags as their bin bags, and they will instead use council issued plastic bags for disposing of all waste.

  15. Yeah, just purchased a healthy Cheese burger from MacD's only to be told that there was a 5p charge for the bag, wits that aboot?

Apparently, takeaway food should be exempted

Are they charging extra for the big mac or happy meal boxes?

i did notice i was not offered a paper bag as usual with my friday fish supper. Maybe they will start charging for the paper tray or else load the chips straight into my hands

  16. It doesn't matter what the "ling" is - the fact is that a vote for the SNP in next years General Election, will be a vote to keep the Conservatives in power. Lets hope that the Scottish public do exactly that because nothing is surer, as soon as the SNP enter into a pact with the Conservatives they'll be dead in Scotland.

Why should anyone worry about the unintended consequences of a democratically exercised vote? it makes no sense.

A voter for the SNP strengthens the cause of the party, just as a vote for any other party does

  17. But you are clearly playing the man - it's just your men are Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage.

Pish, all he did was point out his view that they were headed for government

As for your claim both would have to first win Westminster seats and there's no guarantee that Farage would want to give up him MEP seat anyway, especially if Panoramas claims about him are true. Then you'd have to assume that UKIP and the Conservatives could work together, that the two combined could get a Westminster majority, and then you'd need to assume that Conservative MPs would be so happy at keeping their jobs they'd want to dump Cameron, ignore Osbourne, and appoint Johnston instead.

Quite frankly I think there would be far more chance of the Conservatives and the SNP doing a supply and demand deal to keep the Conservatives in power - something that Michael Portillo - a man who has spent lots of time in Alex Salmonds company - believes is MOST likely

You mean confidence and supply deal? best to learn the ling before you feign knowldege.

  18. Six days till the Ross County game bag.gif so maybe this is a bit premature but here goes anyway.............

Firstly let's dismiss the accusation that appointing Craig was the cheap option, the current BoD have a history of channelling every available pound whatever management team have been in charge throughout their tenure indeed for the past few years it's been around 70% of our income above the generally regard norm - further testament to their prudence.

Next let's go back to May and the appointment of the current team

    • Monday - Lennon out
    • Tuesday - Craig appointed manager
    • Wednesday - Goodwin & Teale given pkayer/coach roles

I have no inside knowledge whatever the politics leading up to these events but it'd be naïve to assume it wasn't in the offing much earlier after DL's travails last season.* The appointments had some merit as they new incumbents knew the club, the existing first team squad and the up & comers from the youth system, in theory anyway as we seem to have slipped back into the old groove. My main gripe at the time was Teale being getting billed as player/coach - how many games did he play last season & so far this season, seems to me he's a coach that might get the odd bit of game time. cool.png

Anyway like others I see nothing in TC's history to suggest he'll resign & why should he so it looks like another season of poorish results with us hovering about the relegation zone.

    * Regarding DL's eventual departure it seems us knickerwtters were closer to the mark than some of DL's erstwhile cheerleaders.

    *************

That is your main gripe with the whole circus?

some of us find it harder to overlook the shockingly prepared pre-season pub team tour, the poor quality signings, the lack of fitness, lack of heart ,total absence of leadership and lack of tactical awareness
