To keep perspective on the whole we are not scoring goals thing, do we have an issue, Yes , does most of our league , also yes.

Of the 12 teams in the league 8 of the 12 have scored 35 goals or less , this includes Aberdeen who have proven goalscorers out of our price range, Hearts who have a proven goalscorers and Scotland international, even Hibs who have 37 goals who a lot of people would say a better strike force than us but who offered them little at the weekend.

The league is tight as a gnats ass this year and I am still hopeful of top 6 or 5th if our defence cuts the mistakes and our forwards stutter forward

I guess the real problem is how poor an already poor league has become in the last two years.  Clubs like ours can't compete with even English |eague 2 on player salaries, which raises the question of why do so few young players get a decent run in this league?

Sitting top 6 at this time of year with a goal difference of -9 or worse shows how poor it is for the supporter and the fact that only 3 teams have made it into positive figures shows a wider problem.  No room for talent, poor managers and coaches across most clubs and a league set-up that is designed to kill competition.  This is the result of the deals done years ago on structure & finance.

  2. It's nice to keep a positive view, as long as we don't delude ourselves.  Top 6, absolutely true and also level on points with 2 teams below us and not many points ahead of teams currently in real trouble.

"We don't draw enough games".  I'd say that is a valid reason for yesterday's positive slant, up until the point you realise we were never in danger.  There are games we have lost that we should have drawn, however most fans seem to say that this is a game we drew that should have been a win.

Squeezing the maximum from the players?  So many bad signings this year have left the squad under pressure so I'd agree, the players are being asked to give, in some circumstances, more than they have to give.

My positive from yesterday is that we made far fewer defensive mistakes than we have in most games we either lost or drew so far this season.  That is the  big positive and if it continues then there are a few more wins to be had before the split.  The lack of goals is worrying, the majority of our opponents have a tactic that nullifies our main threat and we don't have an alternative plan.  There is some hope in Mandron's re-birth as someone who can hold the ball up and link with a team-mate, we really should be trying to capitalise on that since he is actually quite good at it.

A win tomorrow and we're back up to 6th and equal with Hibs on points in 5th.

Has there ever been such little difference between 3rd and 12th?

Having said that, we will have to improve our performance to get 3 pogints tomorrow, although the effort and commitment is never in question.

I'd have some confidence if we had a decent delivery from wide areas and a playmaker in midfield, we lack both and that means we rely again on long-ball huff & puff.  Don't get me wrong, it has worked in some games and will work again in others, we just seem to engage in wars of attrition and see how the breaks fall

Are our players fit....they looked shagged out after 65 m.... another real chance blown.... oh well league survival time

Depending on whether the next few weeks yield a surprise result or two, we probably need to win 4 of our last 5 pre-split games to keep us near 7th place and that would allow the manager to try different things with the younger players, maybe phasing out the loanees who wont be back in the summer.

Been saying for more than a year we need more creativity in the team but that's not how the Manager plays the game. it's all thunder and bluster 100 mile a hour stuff and boots up the park. No wonder the players look knackered after 60 minutes. which suits the likes of Olusanya who'd be nowhere near as effective in a team that plays football. he won't be hard to replace with a different style of play. We have a creative player and he deserves a chance.. he could be walking out the door soon. But he won't struggle to get another team if he hasn't already got one lined up... they'll be plenty suiters...  on a positive note Mandrons link up play was superb last night where has it been the last 2 year. But he just doesn't score often enough he needs a clever striker to play with.. also thought Boyd Munce played well last night good wee player.

Robo's style worked last season but teams have learned how to stop us. It's not working now and it's sore on the eyes.

The manager plays that style and somehow fails to recognise that you need absolute machines to keep that up for 90 minutes.  I said at the 50 minute mark that Hearts were starting to behave as though it was only a matter of time before they scored and they obviously read us well.

Thanks for reminding me of this one.👍

A brief episode in the 60s where there were several rock acts or pop acts in the rock end of the spectrum charting regularly.  I still listen to Cat/Yusuf these days as some of those songs are sublime.

She was a wonderful talent with a beautiful voice

I remember seeing her singing on stage in Millport in the early 1970s.

    Amazing

She passed a group of us on the prom in Scarborough in 1980 (ish) and when she heard the accents she obviously wanted to talk, however her now discredited chaperone physically hauled her off up a set of stairs and she was carted away by "handlers" at some speed.  The wee soul was nothing more than a commodity to her family, management and eventually her husband.

  8. many players get a game most weeks, seemingly without ever attaining match fitness.  Maybe one or two carrying injuries and definitely a couple who just don't have the stamina.  This leaves us vulnerable

I thought Phillips did well, but was shot by the 65th minutes and could have been hooked ahead of O' Hara.  Same goes for Olusanya, he faded from the half-time mark onwards and in those conditions you need to be on top.  I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to protect his hamstrings in the cold.  In any event, his finishing has gone back to where it was 2 years ago.

On the plus side, Ryan Alebiosu looks a good signing and Declan John was good.  Mandron and Gogic kept us in it and Hemming was largely in control.

Aside from that, we don't have the squad that will keep us out the bottom 4 and any injuries and suspensions will hit us hard.  I can see that we need to use Penman, Kenny and Mooney as much as possible for the remainder.  Apart from the lack of fit and able players in this squad, If they can improve then that might reduce the number of new signings required for next year and we can go for better quality.

The signing policy is now discredited.  Foyle, Robinson and Gillespie have brought in too many players who either flatter to deceive or will never be fit enough for the kind of game played in the SPFL.  There is some obvious talent there, just not fit enough.

Recent poor home performances don’t inspire much confidence for tomorrow and it seems mostly premier teams in the next round. Pity about the low attendance likely as well. Sure as fate if we do win it will be Old firm away next. 😬

I am coming through for the game, allowing myself a wee bit of hope that we at least compete with them.  As long as we aren't out of touch by the last third of the game then I might allow myself to even be optimistic.

I was at one of the best gigs I’ve ever been at tonight Vintage Explosion at the Barrowlands which included a brilliant version of The Saints Go Marching In  😂

With everything that has been happening, I took my eye off the ball and didn't get tickets for this.  They are an awesome live act.  Benny Gallagher has been championing them for a year or two, which brought them to my attention  They do play live pretty regularly and I will definitely be getting to a show sometime soon.

Previously, on the SFA website, it was stated that VAR would only be in use for the Semi-final and final.  Wonder what has prompted the change.

Can you imagine, a 7:45 kick-off with 7 minutes of VAR delay (just cos' it's Hearts)  5 minutes of injury time per half for their time wasting and acting an extra 45 minutes for extra-time and penalties?

    Not exactly fan-friendly

Just looked it up,, if it is an SPFL ground with VAR installed, it can be used if agreed by both clubs. If only one club requests it, they carry the cost.

If there is extra time, penalties and VAR time then the Hearts fans wont get home before midnight, 😴nor shall I

Ayr 0 Hibs 0 . Couple of chances. Ayr centre should have scored but no left foot. Boyle missed a Couple of chances for Hibs.  Not a great game but quite interesting. Hopefully picks up in second half.

It's a better game than the one we saw on Saturday

I think I can clear this one up.

In my extensive experience in the field of sarcastic statements of overwhelment (a word I'm pretty sure I just made up), I rule that Whoop-e-doo and Whoop-de-doo, are both acceptable. 👍

    I don't have a scooby-de-doo about this

    That’s very subjective

I doubt we will be recruiting from those currently out of contract as they will need time to get fit

if it was ever in the plan , and I don’t think it is, then that would be worrying

    Anyhoo

    I'll go with Mark

We are not paranoid wrecks like Celtic and Sevco. Wrong statement..

    We should have said.

    SORRY FANS FOR YESTERDAY.

    WE WERE SHITE.

For once I agree, the manager took the blame, however players were well below their best and should have been able to work it out for themselves.

I also think our recruit to sell model is not the right one for us..  There seems to be no shortage of takers for our academy graduates however those we have paid a fee for have not met the standard and  that suggests we are not recruiting at the right level.
