  1. I think the potential income for games was set when the ground was designed ie no point in having 5000 empty seats when only two teams will likely fill the ground. We will just need to set a budget based on what we can accommodate. If there's no room elsewhere other than the North Stand then they can't sit anywhere else but the North Stand and it won't make any difference. Jack is shrewd and will get the players he needs on the budget he has available. As far as the fans go, get your season tickets early :)

Im just a sentimental so n so :). I genuinley think the team out on sat would give all bottom 6 clubs a run for their money. Add a few good eggs with the right style and just maybe.

I think the play offs will give us a better idea of how our current team might fare next season. I have a feeling that whoever gets to play the second bottom from the Premier league will take a pasting.

Has there been any word from the club regarding next season and W7? - I'd love to move my ST to W6/W7 for our return to the Premiership.

I know it's likely the old firm & the Edinburgh clubs will get the West Stand over spill but hopefully the club stands firm and only give them the designated away stand.

I imagine it will depend on season ticket sales

All about opinions, right enough. I thought he was pretty solid, tracked back well, and always offered something going forward. He had a couple of dodgy moments, but recovered well.

I see him more as a wing back as opposed to a full back. Whether Jack believes he would do a job next season might depend on the tactics he is most likely to favour.

As you say, though, he is a decent utility player. Whether he could make the step-up, though, is perhaps open to question.

For me, Stelios has made too many costly mistakes in the defence, conversely, he has made a great contribution going forward. Would he be better suited to playing a wide midfield / winger role without having to worry about defending?

edit: I would definitely keep him though

  5. I’d tend to agree. I used to meet my mate in the Bank house, have a couple of pints, then stroll down Love Street to enjoy the match. Since we moved to Greenhill road I think I have had a pre match pint once other than my visit to hospitality in the ground on Saturday there. Picked the right game[emoji41][emoji209][emoji41][emoji209]

  6. I’m sure Tannadice was only about 15/16 rows so not too different. I think a bit of ‘fold back’ of sound makes it seem louder to those sitting around singers which would maybe encourage more to join in. Dropping a say three or four foot skirt onto the front of the roof wouldn’t block anyone’s view as the roof slopes up towards the pitch.
If you think back to the north Bank even when seated singing spread along the length of it. The front of the roof slopes down which would reflect a bit of sound back in to the stand increasing the number of singers and creating a louder noise on the pitch.
The more I think about this the more I’m convincing myself that it would work. Perhaps some young student of acoustics or waves or something like that could shed some light on it [emoji41][emoji209][emoji209][emoji209]

  7. Being a musician myself, I always like to hear back when I’m playing/singing. Some sort of addition to the structure to reflect some of the sound back in to the stand would help I think. The shed at Tannadice has roughly the same number of rows of seats and that was rockin last Tuesday.
Re my boredom in the first half, I think I may have over indulged that being my 4th game in 10 days. I can see why players need a rest [emoji2]

  8. When I was sitting through the dull first half last night my mind wandered off and I was looking at the roofs on the stands. I noticed that they are straight girders with some sheeting on top. Compare these to the two away stands I have been in in the last couple of weeks and the difference is an apex roof running along the length meaning that there is a flat bit which would reflect sound back towards you. Could this be why the general atmosphere around the ground is quiet barring the W7 boys?

I suspect that to put a skirt on the front of the roof would possibly reflect some of the noise back in to the stands creating a louder experience on the pitch.

Any scientists out there who could confirm or denounce this theory?

What a night, the journey there was brutal getting through Glasgow, the journey home was brutal with that mad diversion.

Someone mentioned "we play we win" in an earlier post. I never thought about the actual meaning of this before but I really get it now. We didn't play our game last night, we hoofed high balls down the flanks and were obsessed with crossing into the box to run in from the side. I really wish we were more composed and simply took our football to them. Utd are simply awful, on another day, we'd have had 4 off them easily - I know some of their more reasonable fans and they are very concerned! The ball just wouldn't fall for us last night.

I'd also start Reilly. His speed was evident when he came on and instantly looked dangerous. Tbh, Mullen has had a couple of great shifts recently but last night just never worked for him, a few others had an off night too tbh.

We play our game on Saturday, it will be hard but we will get there.

Jack mentioned he has been carrying an injury for a few weeks on the after match interview at Tannadice. I expect that's why he isn't first pick at the moment.

Tactically poor towards the end last night - turns out Jack Ross isn't the messiah after all.

We enjoyed some success down the channels, I don't know why we didn't keep doing that.  I'm sure we would have found more space as the game went on and United tired.

It's farewell to John Sutton, in hindsight he shouldn't have been brought on as we just started lumping the ball to him at that point without success.  What an end to his Saints career it would have been though, inches away from the goal that one us the league.  Has Jack Ross' attention wandered to securing a Hollywood screenplay rather than the title? (And whats happened to that Leicester movie btw?)

As I said after Brechin, I hope to see Gavin Reilly reinstated to his rightful place leading the line.

Overall felt we deserved a draw, we were decent enough and with a bit more composure around the box would have won the game by a few.  Having said that, the United woodwork had more work to do than their keeper.  There's something missing up front that will need to be fixed over the summer.

I'd take Moshni in our team next season.  Obviously a bit of a loose cannon but what a difference he has made to that previously soft as shite United defence.

I felt we had started pumping it in to the box before he came on. At least with him on there was a chance we might win a header.

    Upwards and onwards.

    It's Dundee, not Paisley.

I take it anywhere near the ground will be ok?

I see Dundee Utd are advising there are road closures in Dundee and to avoid the Clepington Road area. There's nothing on Traffic Scotland mentioning any road closures round there though.

We're leaving at 4 to give us plenty of time, it being rush hour, and give us time to get parked and get down to the ground early as we've missed the tickets on sale at Saints ticket office.. I would think 5.30 would see you probably miss kick off, given the time it would take you to get over the Kingston Bridge at that time.

Where is the best place to park in terms of not coming back to your car to find it on bricks etc :)

Probably because I watched the highlights of Falkirk v Livingstone Livie tore Falkirk a sore one plus Livie have that player that always scores against us. Obviously I hope we win I think this will be harder than United away.

We put the 'Dobbie always scores against us' to bed last week. I'm sure we'll do the same with the Livie player next week :)

  14. It all comes back to the plan B situation. If the team is under siege (like we have been in the latter stages in a few games) a punt to a big striker to hold the ball up is a good way to relieve pressure. In that respect Sutton is our only option now but I feel Stewart could offer that role also.

Back to topic and well done to Jack who has improved significantly over the course of the season.

McLeish was certainly doing a great job but jumped ship as soon as an English club came sniffing, which left a bad taste for many Scotland supporters.

Who would I prefer, doesn't matter a jot, as it's completely nothing to do with me.

I'll sit back and get interested when the new manager is named.

Walter also walked away when the call from Ibrox came. On that basis I would deem him unsuitable to be re-hired and he can GTF
