St Mirren's Home Clash With Celtic Switched To Unusual Time

It was another decent season for St Mirren fans under the charge of manager Steve Robinson when it came to our 2024/25 Scottish Premiership campaign as we finished in sixth place in the table, and had we been able to turn a few more of the 16 defeats we suffered across the year into even draws and picked up a few extra points that way - well, there was ultimately only an eight point gap to third place and that would have been dreamland for all The Buddies out there.

After the much needed off season and the summer transfer window shenanigans, with seven games of our 2025/26 Scottish Premiership campaign now played, it is beginning to look like we may have a very similar season in store, and for those that enjoy online gaming they would be looking at the jackpot casino big payouts that we could be in line for if we did manage to pick up those extra points this season. We are again in fifth place in the table right now having picked up two wins and three draws and we arguably now have a run of matches where in some cases, relative form would suggest that we would be favourites to pick up all three points and a few more wins to move us further up the table.

This week though the media have jumped ahead to the upcoming Celtic clash as we now know that we will host Brendan Rodgers' side on home soil at St Mirren's SMISA Park Stadium at the end of the month of November as the latest television picks by the broadcasters have now been made. Sky Sports have made the decision to screen the tie and it will take place on November 22nd, but it will very curiously carry an evening kick off time of 8pm as it gets the live studio coverage.

It was expected that reigning champions Celtic would be named quite heavily in the next batch of televised fixtures, particularly as they are minorly struggling this season by their own standards, so featuring in seven of the 12 picked and scheduled Scottish Premiership fixtures is not a surprise and nor is it the story. The buzz is why Paisley has been picked for such an unusual start time, particularly for a Saturday evening at the end of November given the inclement weather and temperatures that many in the wider world of Scottish football would be expecting, not least the Saints faithful themselves that would be expected to turn up to the stadium to help the atmosphere for television purposes and the armchair fans, whilst also hopefully roaring the team on to a pretty classic victory.

We would also be hoping that there will be an element of revenge on the cards given the narrow defeat that we suffered on the opening weekend of the current campaign, as fans will remember we went down 1-0 to a late Luke McCowan goals at Celtic Park. We feature a second time in the new broadcast fixtures as our previously postponed clash with Livingston, which was set for November 1 but needed moving owing to the Premier Sports Cup semi finals, has been set for Tuesday, January 6th and has been handed a kick off time of 7.45pm.
