No one has mentioned  the flat atmosphere  at the start ,crowd very quiet, ditto the tram  took until second  half to get going

It felt really strange.  Car park lights were out when we arrived. There was no music as the system  was knackered and the crowd were very quiet.  The players warming up and back in the dressing room may well have been affected by the lack of noise  which  might normally get them geed up.  It's not as daft as it sounds

I still think this could come back and bite us on the arse.   🐶

That may well happen but we can't hold on to every player just in case. We'd have a squad of hundreds and huge debt !!!

The value of a good manager is not just deciding who to bring in but who to let go. He is in a better position than you or I to make an informed decision and minimise the risk

  3. Can't get my seat but can get the seat next to me occupied by my grandson. We're both identifed by the same e mail address. Back in July I had the same problem with league cup ties and had to go to the ticket office. I was told there ( by the guy that does the announcements at the ground)that as e mail is the sole ID only one seat can be allocated to each email address. He joked that as we were clearly going nowhere in the league cup the next time I'd need to buy a home ticket would be at Scottish cup time in January and that gave a lot of time to get the problem sorted. Am I surprised? Not really . Will have to go down to the ground.

  4. I feel much happier and more comfortable with the old firm only having one stand. I think it may also have helped the team performance. Clearly the attendances have been good compared to previous seasons but I do have one question. How does the income compare with previous seasons playing the OF? I don't know how many attending are paying the full whack and how many are freebies or concessions. In short are we losing income even though the attendances are good? It may well be the case that it's worthwhile even if we lose some income . I'd just like to know and will ask the question at the AGM.

Agreed. There was  ,in my view, no logical reason to postpone last weekends games . Given that the games  actually were postponed it would be illogical for next weekends games to go ahead much as I want them to. No games on the day of the funeral would have been perfectly respectful and adequate . SFA and SPFL have screwed up and they probably know it.

On reflection the Hearts game on Sunday probably couldn't have gone ahead due to policing and other logistical difficulties in Edinburgh. There was nothing to stop the Saturday games though.

Personally, I would have gone ahead with the football programme without interruption bar, perhaps on the day of the funeral itself. As has been mentioned, other sports did function more or less as normal. Having said that I find it strange that we will go for a resumption of the matches before the funeral having already paused them. As it turns out, this is one match that I can’t attend as we have a family event the same day. It wasn’t the same day until the game was changed to the Sunday! @W6er has a point though that we will be involved in a TV game with a high probability of  protest by Celtic fans ( not all of them) exacerbated perhaps by our decision to restrict them to one stand.

Come on folks, some of these posts are a wee bit tasteless IMO.

Tasteless and juvenile. I'm not a royalist but she was someone's mum and a fellow human being. Yes she had a life of privelage but her life must have been like living in jail. I certainly wouldn't have swapped places with her

So, down to earth with a bit of a bump after yesterday. Perhaps we got slightly carried away with our three wins in a row. Yes, we played some nice stuff but it resulted in two 1-0 wins and three goals against Dundee United at their lowest point in some years. Best thing about the three games was the strong defence and the clean sheets. For me, that's the most worrying aspect of yesterday's game.

SR MUST have them working on defence this week.

One plus point from yesterday - despite losing 3 goals and scoring zero, we retained our place in the top six.

So, on to Tynecastle. Was yesterday just a blip or are we returning to previous poor form? I guess we'll find out next Sunday. One glimmer of optimism. Hearts seem to have hit a sticky patch - out of the League Cup and beaten yesterday - so maybe not as strong as we thought.

    AS always..... COYS!

I agree. I think we were a bit carried away and complacent. That resulted in carelessness .Some of our passing was dreadful and when the pass did reach its recipient the control of the ball was poor. I exclude Richard Tait from the poor control comment but not Main and Ayunga.

Just as an aside listening to the radio on the way back Michael Stewart (one of my least favourite people ) seemed to be sneering at us . I don't think he has ever rated us. Shelley Kerr was not dissimilar. She was probably still smarting from the Rangers score. I assume neither were at the game but seem to be able to talk with great authority about it . Perhaps I'm just imagining their dislike for us and it's me smarting from a score I didn't like .

Seen that. No game marked down for 12 noon on the 18th Sep.

I think it will be on Sunday 18th at 12 noon as they are showing an EPL game on Saturday lunchtime. Would rather it wasn't moved at all so I live in hope. If it is moved it is very short notice. Perhaps they don't realise people have other things going on in their life and need to plan . On second thoughts they just don't care.

    It's an awful dilemma.

I loathe Rangers. I loathe Celtic.

But I usually hope they'll hump every diddy team that we need to finish above in the league.

Am I a bad person for wanting this ?

Hope not. I'm the same but I'm trying to just concentrate on us. Not easy

  11. I was moaning that Livingston and Motherwell won today as I see them as real rivals at the bottom of the league . This must stop. Our results are the most important. We can't rely on other teams losing . If we are good enough we will stay up . From now on I will try to concentrate on our results only. Don't know if I'll last the season on that basis but I really want to.

The club did think it through. They were well aware of the feelings of a large number of fans so engaged with them and consulted with the fans. They have tried to offset any financial hit by encouraging innovative ways of increasing fan based finances. I hope they will do all in their power to keep the three stands "clean".

And. If we end up in the championship next season it will have F all to do with stopping the @rsecheeks from getting two stands. It will be all to do with the recruiting ability and tactical knowledge of our current manager.

His budget has not been impacted.

My concern with fan ownership was that the heart would rule rather than the head which would be potentially disastrous. My view is unchanged.

  13. As usual the club hasn't thought through things . Giving the old firm just one end was always going to result in infiltration. That's why I voted against it . There will be very few extra St. Mirren fans in attendance due to this decision and we'll lose a stack of money just because we are very principled. I had hoped the irrational stuff would go out of the window when Fitzpatrick left but clearly not. At least we can hold our heads up high in the championship.

The only place a balaclava is acceptable is in Aberdeen funnily enough- seagull protection and the bitterly cold weather.

Ps, there are no middleaged men hanging about with NB youth division agro headhunters as far as I've seen.

Not seen many middle aged men with them but quite a number well into their twenties who should be old enough to act as an adult

  15. Is the academy all it's cracked up to be? A few years ago at a shareholders AGM I asked how the value of the academy was measured. I couldn't get a straight answer. I would suggest that one measurement would be cost of running it against what we get in for transfers. I don't know what those figures are but suspect  they won't be encouraging. The only other measure could be feeding players into the first team on a long term basis. Again I'm not sure that looks particularly good either. People seem to be obsessed by giving youngsters their chance and that all will be well if we do that but in reality very few make the first team grade. In short it's nice that we have an academy but does it produce the goods? I have an open mind but I suspect it doesn't produce what is required. Hope I'm wrong.

I have no apology for starting the thread. Three things have changed.

Firstly, I have witnessed fans who had taken seats in grounds being “asked” to move by this group as they wanted to sit at that place.

Secondly, Flares are being used. First seen in recent times at Stenhousemuir and then at Ayr and now Airdrie. These are a danger to our fans including those using them.

Most worryingly, some of the group have taken to wearing balaclavas with only spaces for their eyes to show, presumably to help avoid ID.

I was told at Stenhousemuir that our club would receive an automatic fine of £1,000 and ,if true, then likely also on the other occasions. We could make much better use of the money.

Keep the noise and colour home and away but ditch the attitude and the flares ( please).

The wee Ned's in black and balaclavas we're out in force again today as were their equally embarrassing Motherwell counterparts . There is also a smattering of what looks like adults in amongst them at least in a physical rather than mental sense.

The club need to stop pandering to this mob. It's reminding me  too much of the seventies problems then the casuals. W7  and W6 should be available for away support just like when the ground opened. We've plenty space for our home support, it might break this lot up and bring in more money without the problem of having the old firm behind both goals.

I fear things are going to get a lot worse which really saddens me as  I thought these times were behind us.
