  3. what do you suggest as an alternative to having a parliament then? have a referendum on everything instead?
  4. we get a vote at westminster don't we? we get a vote at holyrood don't we? Was it not holyrood that led to the referendum you've been listening to jim sillars a bit too much
  5. http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/international/scotland-goes-full-scottish-2014091790696 With one day of campaigning left, the debate is now focused on millions of red-faced maniacs calling each other bastards. Across the country ordinary people have poured onto the streets to scream filth at someone, as light aircraft fly overhead trailing banners that feature heavy use of the ‘c-word’. On the BBC’s evening news programme in Scotland, the presenter referred to SNP leader Alex Salmond as a ‘spunk stain’, but maintained impartiality by comparing Gordon Brown’s latest speech to ‘an ice cream made of shite’. Julian Cook, a UN election observer, said: “The Yes campaign has now become a grassroots swearing movement, while the No campaigners turned over a desk and told me they are ‘having none of this pish’.” A Yes campaign spokesman said: “We’ve asked our volunteers to go out today and call 50 people a bastard.” A No campaign spokesman turned over a desk and added: “f**k off.” Cook said: “Luckily Scotland’s not completely obsessed with tribalism, so it should all calm down by Friday afternoon.”
  6. Any adult who wears football colours has issues...

  13. During this campaign I've heard loads of times how bad the Conservatives are, how they have implemented austerity and created food banks, how Scots would do a better job running our country, how we never get the government we vote for, how the country is run by an English elite how the city of London caused the crash. The fact is that the Conservatives haven't won a majority in a Westminster general election for over 20 years. The recession that led to the current austerity and food banks happened under a Labour government led by a Scottish prime minister and a Scottish chancellor. It happened with an SNP government at Holyrood led by a first minister who urged RBS to buy ABN Amro. It was caused by Scottish banks run by Scots. Vote no. Vote Conservative at the next general election.
  14. Great, another bloody referendum thread from the forum's village idiot. Mods, close this shit down.
  15. One thing that has intrigued me is why the unionists managed to get the actual ballot paper question wrong. If the question had been 'do you want Scotland to remain part of the UK' or such like, that would have made the 'No' campaign the 'Yes' campaign and therefore the positive campaign. The 'Yes' campaign would have been teh negative campaign Psychologically, the 'Yes / No' aspect to this will make a difference... A fairer way would have surely been 2 questions, eg Do you want Scotland to be independent? Do you wish Scotland to remain part of the UK?
  16. She could have read them on different days surely?
  17. St. Johnstone have a recent history of giving the job to guys with no or little managerial experience - mostly with success. Derek McInnes had no experience as a manager when St. Johnstone promoted him, Steve Lomas had no senior level managerial experience before St. Johnstone appointed him and Owen Coyle's only experience was as a stop gap co-manager with John Hughes at Falkirk for a few months. Davie Hay is a classic example of a very experienced managerial appointment!
  18. My mother-in-law argued blind that Glasgow Airport was closing down. This was solely based on the Record headline that BAA was being forced to sell the Airport… Two of her best came on our trip to Paris (funded with her benefits…). There was a problem with the hot water in our hotel room so she phoned down to reception to ask them to sort it. When someone came up to the room, she spoke to the guy in ‘allo allo’ fashion with a French accent… When we went to the Eifel Tower, I took us a route that mean we could walk past the the Arc de Triomphe. When we came up to the roundabout I quickly explained to her what she was looking at. We then proceeded to walk round the roundabout to get to the street to walk down to the Eifel Tower. After crossing a couple of roads she looked up at the Arc de Triomphe again and exclaimed “look, there’s another wan oh they arch things”…
  19. To be fair, there are a lot of very stupid people out there… (yes, yes, no doubt you will say I am one of them!) My daughter recently told me that one of her friend’s mums was voting yes because she didn’t like the royal family… And going back to my fav subject, my mother-in-law, I could write a book about her stupidity. She basically believes everything she reads in the Daily Record to make matters worse. That is literally why she is voting no.
