I'm in contact regularly with around 20 - 30 Saints fans from different walks of life, some of whom are members of SMISA, and not one of them could care less about the situation being discussed.

These are all guys in their mid-fifties and over. They're all relatively intelligent individuals.

Their teenage children are all Saints fans too.

Guess what? They couldn't give a shit either.

I'm sort of using that as a general indicator of the Saints support as a whole. Maybe I'm wrong and there a re thousands of fans losing sleep over this.

All that would appear to tell me is that some fans don't care or value integrity, in the people who run the club, so long as we are doing okay on the pitch, I refuse to believe that.

Is it?  You maybe know more about it than me but a quick Google search of defamation in Scotland would suggest that what is said has to cause serious harm to the reputation of another.

Defamation law in Scotland is governed by the Defamation and Malicious Publication (Scotland) Act 2021 (the Act). The Act defines 'defamation' as publishing a statement that has caused, or is likely to cause, serious harm to the reputation of another.

If the matter is as trivial as you claim how does commenting on it cause harm?

but is it, not the case that there is no case to answer if what has been said is true?  ie; calling someone a lying barstuard, is not defamation if in fact they are illegitimate and have told an untruth

Apparently, someone thinks that because the funding wasn't granted and, even if it was, it would have required SMFC approval for the plan to go ahead, that nothing of note has occurred. The fact that Kibble used the SMFC charity name in their proposal without consent and presented SMFC land to be used in their proposal without consent, seems to not matter a jot to someone.

As I have previously said, it's about the trustworthiness of those involved.

    absolutely spot on sir

You could cough this situation under the rug, it’s that trivial.

I don’t understand fans being so raging over a scenario that never happened a year ago. They probably still have a picture of Ian Harte up on the dartboard  😅

it seems to me that people are more pi**ed about your eagerness to diminish its importance and for it to be swept under the carpet.........smoke........fire!

I would say that meritocracy is a relatively recent concept. Serfdom was only abolished ~500 years ago. Certainly the English had quite a rigid class system until last century, too. The idea that you can rise to the top is quite new.

Perhaps that's why modern elites have to resort to more underhand methods. A united people is surely more dangerous than a fractured society?

Meritocracy, my friend played a large part in the life of ancient Rome, while the social structure of  Rome was largely based on birth and social class, the military, which played a huge part in Roman society, provided many opportunities for individuals, regardless of social class or background to rise through the ranks; based simply on the capabilities, significant military achievements often resulted in honours and promotions, showcasing the potential for meritocratic advancement in the Roman Empire.  So, perhaps not such a recent concept after all?  2000 plus years ago at a minimum.

On this topic I am absolutely anti-AW. He’s needlessly blown up a trivial situation that’s painted the club in a very poor light. That’s my view on it, others obviously disagree.

As for the Kibble, I get for some they can do no right. But I’m not sure what they’re supposed to be ‘milking’ from the club?

As for oor @faraway saint, he’s a great example of a one track mind. You either agree fully with what he says on BAWA, or you’re getting a response explaining (often poorly) why you’re wrong. Different opinions need not apply. 😅

Ok, what is Kibble milking from St Mirren?, to begin with, it would seem they get first dibs on any business/work that is available and can somehow be structured into their captive workforce, which probably pays nothing to the workers I  would imagine I ( mean we are training these boys/girls) but the supervisor is probably very well paid and any profit is into Kibble's books no doubt. And it would appear that one needs to be careful not to upset their staff either otherwise, they use their position on the board of a football club to get you banned from the ground, how does that work with a minority shareholding?, that doesn't really look good for either large business that they need to gang together to ban this individual who has unpleasant things to say about them, (never heard of sticks n stones)?  and certainly does not show me an individual who I would be happy to see in positions of power in an organisation like Kibble.

Always going to be spin & assertion with this sort of announcement. For me, as we know it based on announcement. AW dropped his threat of legal action & the club said he could come back in. If that isn’t true, it will likely come out in the wash.

Regarding AW getting his way & coming out on top on all of this. We’re talking about a guy that’s went from, long standing club director, with the 1877 club as his baby & (I imagine) generally well thought of by the majority of St Mirren fans with an opinion on him. To a paying punter, completely removed from any responsibility with 1877, who’s reputation has been dragged through the mud… Not to mention potentially still having a legal case from the kibble hanging over his head that could force a grovelling apology & financial hit.

If that’s coming out on top, what would coming out on bottom look like? 😅

Are you anti-A W? Because you certainly come across that way, I support neither side, but reading between those lines that seem unbiased..........clearly not yours, I would come out marginally in the A W camp, simply because of his longstanding support for the club, unlike Kibble who in my opinion are simply here to suck of the teat while the milk is flowing.  The majority of other comments are either for or against A W, but not demonstrably so, just yourself it would seem.  All I would say is give the bloke a chance and stop kicking him you know where, when he is in a poor situation, By the way; this is nothing personal from me, simply what I perceive in the posts.

I love Strain, Baccus, Gogic, O'Hara, Tanser, etc. However, James Tavernier is a superb player who would clearly walk into our team.

Can I just remind everybody of the current league standings:

Now imagine we were playing St. Johnstone this weekend and they had won 4 from 7 and were sitting in third place. We wouldn't be saying they were 💩. Indeed, how many of you on here would have taken 12 points from our first 7 games if offered it pre-season?

This isn't a 💩 side that we're playing. It's a badly performing Rangers team. It's a side who beat Real Betis, currently 7th in LaLiga the other week. It's a side that has won 3 of their last 5 league games.

I think some folk on here are getting carried away and are not being realistic.

Aye, I am 100% certain that we're capable of beating Rangers. Indeed, it's a very good opportunity to beat Rangers. With them having played away in Europe, with their injuries, low morale and management issues it is possibly our best opportunity to turn them over in a long time and we have been excellent this season. But they are the favourites. Just have a look at the bookies' odds!

I think our lads will want to put in a shift against this mob. It's our chance to shine in front of the Sky cameras. Hopefully Robinson has them fired up and raring to go and we do ourselves justice.

    COYS!

an excellent realistic and honest appraisal, but COYS

Tavernier for starters, always gives a team opportunities from dead ball situations and has a goal, over 100, in him.

    Their goalie also.

yes, sorry to admit it but I would swap Hemmings for Butland any day of the week, he is a class act, Butland

The one bit that I’m still not convinced about is the defence. Not from an individual ability perspective (they are all decent players), but more from an organisational point of view.
We’ve conceded 6 goals in our 5 league matches and to be honest, with the exception of the Aberdeen game, I think we’ve ridden our luck quite a lot and been saved by the fact that we’ve done so well at the other end of the park.
Hopefully we can sort that out.

Reading this, made me think this is a really valid point, we do miss a leader such as Shaugnesey, whilst not the quickest or even best defender; we have had in recent years, he did seem to be the glue that connected such defense as was on the park.  I am not implying any degree of perfection here, just that we miss that ability.

    Too early.

    tough call.

Saints’ve been blessed with goalies in recent years.

for which I blame that guy that came fae Aiberdeen - via the Imperial Bar…. :)

even though he did ok, something about Carson just didn't sit right with me, a decent goalie, but perhaps not such a nice man, and for me way behind both his predecessors in ability.

  12. Only just finished watching his pre-Motherwell interview and I just love how real this lad is, no airs and graces and it would seem he has an appreciation of the help and support he has had from the club since arriving, a young man with huge integrity, I hope he goes far in his football journey but stays with us for a little while so we can appreciate his talent.

One way or t'other this will bring this farce to an end. My guess is that Kibble will get their knuckles rapped for not following etiquette , but the fact that the club BOD have the final say on any use of club land will mean this wellness centre couldn't have gone ahead anyway , without the say so of Smisa and the club. No matter what , Kibble own a fair chunk of the shares and they aren't going away .

It makes you think that maybe a lifelong Saints fan who made the step up to the club's board  AKA ( Mr. Alan Wardrop,) had a point, given that what he implied was more or less what has transpired, and then again, one has to wonder, should Mr Wardrop not be proven to be uttering falsehoods if a certain other board member/chairman AKA (Mr John Needham) be so gracious as to offer an apology...............................DONT HOLD YOUR BREATH.
