  1. Lionel Messi moving to St Mirren. to replace Stevie Mallan in a £100million deal is nothing more than ‘noise’, according to his former Barcelona team-mate Xavi.

Rumours of a sensational switch away from the Nou Camp have increased amid contract issues between the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and Barca. The Catalan club recently admitted they are struggling financially to meet the Argentinian’s wage demands.

St Mirren have been linked with a £100million bid, a deal that would see Messi and Jack Ross unite

However Xavi has played down such a prospect. " Messi is not in Mallon's League- Lets be Honest

‘There’s always a lot of noise in the media when it comes to Messi, I know Saints have previous history with Barca with Archibald and Victor’ he told Fox Sports.

‘He’s the second best player in the world , behind Stevie Mallan, and people always want to write about him, but often the noise is false, it’s not true, and I’m sure that’s the case at the moment.’

Erm:  not sure what this lads drinking....but Ill have a pint

" Aye, you support St Mirren and pay 20 quid at the gate when you can but you aint welcome at THE ST MIRREN OPEN DAY "

    MARKETING

Got to be right, what Shull is saying how the heck can an 'open dy' NOT be open........... a big mistake and a huge missed opportunity

  3. Devastation is losing around 40% of your seats in a single election.

Devastation is losing almost half your vote in one election.

Devastation is when you lose a raft of seats where you had majorities of around 10k or more and are sitting one day later with a 5-10k deficit.

There is no sugar coating of this.

We could easily have been sitting on 20 to 25 MPs today.

Every single one of those 35 SNP MPs has their coat on a shoogly peg.

Almost all of this is due to IndyRef2 and as such is an entirely self inflicted wound.

Without IndyRef2, Labour and the Tories had absolutely no campaign message whatsoever.

Have to broadly agree with this, perhaps given that I reside in England colours my views or perhaps I can just see the bigger picture, however if May orchestrated a catastrophic campaign and suffered accordingly then surely Sturgeon did likewise, I should state that I consider both of them as supremely arrogant leaders who are not representative (IMO) of the 'wider' population they claim to be working for, Corben on the other hand I openly stated I was terrified of him  winning; but he seems to have played 'his' politics extremely cleverly (mitigating and softening his approach) and through engaging the youth of the country (who had for a long time stayed silent) seems to have pulled the proverbial cat out of the bag............almost. So where do we go from here; almost certainly to another election in which if i was either May or Sturgeon I would be worried if Corben can bring in some of the middle of the road ex blairites he might yet swing a victory and whilst I am a patriotic Scot I was always worried about a one party state, it is never good for anyone to have to much power...just look at Scottish football for the truth in those words. But it has been exciting if not overly constructive for lets say certain sections of the population.

  4. Lord Sugar trying to kid us on he got where he is through hard work alone and as a working class guy he advises not to vote for Corbyn.
Imagine getting owned by Joey Barton though

    Sent fae ma fone
Well said Joey Barton, would trust Suger as far as I could throw him.....mind you Corbin is an anachronism who shouldn't really be let out alone

I couldn't disagree more, Chic Charnley was a superbly skillful player who would have played at a much higher level has he not been such a nutjob.

One of my all-time worst 3 Saints players, the others being Jim Gardiner and Micheal Renfrum (sp?).

OMG!!! Jim Gardiner and Alex Bone Oh dearie dearie me

  6. Yes I liked Hinchy.

    And you're probably right.

No Saints goalkeeper has ever come close to Dibble for me though, he really was the best. Ridiculous he never got capped for the full national team.

Billy Thompson was the best I have seen followed by Dibble and Denis Connaghan.

Sorry NED: I think you got that list arse about t*t, surely it should be Denis Connaghan, then Billy Thompson and and then Dibble , however for stickability ; yes Dibble is in there

Could never get into last of the summer wine seemed popular dare I say English humour would take Jack and Victor any day of the week.

I felt that when Michael Bates was no longer in it , it went downhill . I also thought it went way past its sell by date by a country mile...

Not wishing to cause fisticuffs or anything so un-cool :)  BUT isn't opinion such a marvelous thing.  Personally I didn't particularly like Michael Bates (in Summer Wine I hasten to add)  and even though I was bought the first two series as a present (Because I absolutely loved the programme) I must admit I was disappointed with Michael Bates character Cyril Blamire, as to me it didn't seem to ring as true as Foggy Dewhurst (Brian Wide's character) ... who by the way came in and took over the role (in 1976) because Michael had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.  I actually feel that the programme took off from the third (Brian Wilde) series and I am Scottish and do not find the humour particularly English..............of course this is all in my humble opinion. :)

  8. A propos of nothing special...

Has any other Buddie taken wry note that THIS is PAGE 404 of this thread?

    ETA

er... well the previous one was...  sigh...

Might one enquire as to the significance of Page 404?.....please

Do we know what a true Muslim is.  Why aren't the true ones doing more to eradicate the hate preachers that are infiltrating they're peace loving mosques.

Why in hell's name are you trying to justify religious bias? Sectarianism in any form is hatred and that is hateful.

That sort of justification adds fuel to the fire for the bigots in our society.

Might be sticking my neck out a bit here, but don't we have a long way to go as a nation before we start to preach to others about sectarianism

  10. If and its a feckin massive "IF" Ross is using this to play the board for more cash, after two thirds of a season in which he had us the worst team in the league, only avoiding potential relegation on goal difference in the last game of the season...?

I would fly out to Spain and sack the c**t for his utter betrayal of a board and chairman who stood by him when he was getting pelters and calls for him to be sacked. Only my opinion though.

This is a fair point and you are entitled to make it I feel.....seems I have an itchy trigger finger though

  12. Actually that is a very good point, I think JR has done a very credible job, (NB: not Incredible) in keeping us from League one, but it does seem to me that one side of his persona that appeals to the public is surely his apparent openness and honesty during interviews and conversations with.....well anybody! ....... however these 'extremely appealing traits' would begin to look less 'believable' if he were to pull such a stunt.  I do hope all this is worries about nothing.......Really!

Or more likely he is happy for the clubs to slug it out via agents whilst he is on holiday, and he comes home to a bigger salary, bigger budget and (although it pains me to say it) bigger club in a bigger league. And can say "how special his time was almost relegating St Mirren" and thanks the fans wishing them well.

I think the only thing that pains you my friend........is when you have bugger all to gripe about, I do believe you enjoy wallowing in negativity
